94 Q45 with blown head gasket.

Hey peeps I'm planning to buy this tomorrow but it say's I need to change the head gasket and I just want to know how hard it is to fix the head gaskets and could the car run 10 miles to get it home with the blown head gasket? I found this 94 Q45 for 500 bucks and I will buy it if it's a proper starter VIP ride and if the fix wouldn't cost more than a grand.

Anyway, here it is. http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/car/550890683.html

Sometimes rebuilds are alot more trouble than what they are worth. If you really are ready to dedicate yourself to this project then go for it. Just be ready for small things to keep popping up here and there on a car that is more than 10 years old.

What's a J30? Is that even VIP?

Is that easier to fix than the Q45?

J30's are Nissan Leopard's, and not considered VIP. The picture is definitely of J30, they're not bad cars, RWD, VG30 powered, but not VIP.

Looks like it's quite hard to fix considering the design... Is the car worth buying still?

Since its not a vip platform, you arent going to find much aftermarket stuff for it... I would give it a miss unless you are particularly fond of this shape...

the interior on the J30's is nice, I have a friend that has one, but I don't think it's worth doing a headgasket on.

The problem with replacing an Infiniti head gasket is that you will probably need to do some other engine repairs while you are undertaking the job. That can include doing a valve job, resurfacing the cylinder head and checking the head for cracks. So plan for the job to take at least two days, depending on the status of the head.
