#125941Infiniti Q45 (F50) Custom Aluminum Rear Upper Control Arms (RUCA's)
So you bought an Infiniti Q45 (F50 chassis) and you have some really nice wheels you want to put on. You look at your rear suspension and realize that the OEM multilink setup does not have much camber adjust. You get on the internet to only find that there is literally nothing available for your car to help with your needs. You try using the 350Z multilink arms but it still isn't working the way you want. You can't get your toe settings back into spec, and the bottom of the wheel sticks out too much. But worst of all, your expensive luxury car sounds like the 1970 Honda at Walmart because your suspension pieces are making a ton of noise from your adaptation of the 350Z multilink arms which aren’t fitting too well. Well, I'm here to solve the problem for you.If you are not familiar with what a RUCA is for, it is a suspension piece that can allow for extreme camber adjustment. While your OEM RUCA is a fixed length, this RUCA is adjustable. It will pull the top of your wheel in (negative camber) versus using the lower midlink arms to push the bottom of the wheel out which may create an undesired look by having the wheel stick out too far out of the body. Camber adjustment through the RUCA also creates minimal change to overall toe settings. Even in extreme cases of negative camber, getting back into OEM toe specs will be easy and at most will require the addition new of eccentric toe bolts.
Currently, this is a collaboration project between myself and Van (One Ton VIP on these message boards). Together, we used my vehicle for the original prototype and his machine shop to crank this piece out. Needless to say, the piece took quite some time to design and build but was well worth it. But, don't just take my word on it, just have a look at the piece yourself:







This rear upper control arm (RUCA) is made from billet 6061-T6 aluminum. If you are not familiar with aluminum grades, the 6061-T6 grade is comprised of aluminum, magnesium, and silicon which allows the end product to be both strong and corrosion resistant. The billet aluminum has also been thermally treated and artificially aged for additional strength.
The arm itself is literally built to be overkill in terms of strength and its components. The balljoints are of OEM quality built by a major supplier of balljoints and other types of suspension pieces that are used in motor homes, custom race vehicles, custom off road rigs, ATV's, etc. The spherical bushings are literally pulled off of a production car that is on the roads today. I can safely bet that you that you have probably never seen bushings like these before, because they are just that unique. Sometimes you have to wonder what kind of bushings that high end exotics like Ferrari's and Lamborghini's use :)
Why does all this information matter you might ask? Well because these arms are built to handle like your OEM RUCA's. How often do you see aftermarket RUCA's with real balljoints and bushings? You have probably seen those RUCA's for other cars that are just welded together tubes with rod end style bushings. These “tube RUCA’s” often make it look like you can go buy a MIG welder and build a set yourself. Here is an example of a “tube RUCA”

Now which piece do you like better? Which do you trust more? Welded tubes that could possibly crack at the welding points, or a full billet aluminum piece that is friction fit together and clamped together with high grade bolts?
The funny part is that many of the people who are selling these “tube style RUCA’s” are charging upwards of $2000.00! For what? Welded tubes and rod end style bushings that are difficult to adjust, fail prematurely on daily driven street vehicles, and end up make unattractive noise? Why would you want to go backwards your overall ride quality and comfort?
The full CNC billet aluminum arm not only looks good, but it's key features lie in the fact that the bushings and balljoints will out last the rod end style in the picture above, and also it's ease of use.
The adjustable camber plate allows you to adjust camber on the fly. All you need to do is loosen the 4 hex bolts on the bottom of the control arm, slide your camber plate to your desired setting and retighten. Use the tick marks on the bottom of the control arm to take note of your settings and repeat on the other side. It's that simple! No counting threads, no measuring tapes, all you need is a simple hand tool and your eyes.
There are three people that I am aware of so far who have directly messaged me and expressed interest in these arms. The more orders we can get, the more inexpensive these quality RUCA’s will be for everyone. Needless to say, the arm will surely be cheaper than those $2000.00 welded tube RUCA's that you can get for other vehicles.
