How VIP is the G platform considered?

Title says almost all of it. I've always wondered this. I've seen VIP'd G35 sedans here and there. But they're not that big, nor would I really consider them a high end luxury jap sedan. Are the accepted by the mass VIP majority as a VIP platform? Or would a VIP g35 4-door be referred to as a VIP style car?


I'm asking this because I really want to learn all I can about the Nissan/Infiniti platforms before I really decide upon a car I'm looking to buy either stock or slightly VIP.

I vote for the latter of the two, mainly because of already established traditional platforms. However i'm sure the G35 sedan can be styled very well!

I'm just not sure how authentic I would personally place the G35 sedan as in VIP, mainly because It's known as a skyline in japan. And skylines aren't VIP... dunno if that view is completely different in the states

The G35, although a VIPstyle car only, can be fixed up very nicely. You still would have to realize that money and effort would be doubled in order for you to pull it off. Then again some might say i'm just biased......hahahaha:biggthumpup:

IMO the G35 is pretty much like a GS.:shrug:

The Infiniti G is a sports car not luxury sedan. Just like the Lexus IS. It can definitely be vip inspired just not a vip platform.

All vip platform cars dont have an optional manual transmission and usually has an optional V8 model and the GS is only auto tranny and has optional V8.

I've seen the topic. I know it's not listed as a real VIP platform car. I just wanted to know if it would be in the best interest of a real VIP project to use one. Originality would be nice, but I'm really looking to stick to a basic clean VIP look. Thanks for the help though, I think I will continue pursuing a Q45 y33

I beg to differ on the sports car moniker you are assigning. You must remember that "Luxury" vehicles in the states are reffered to as such by their brand name. Infiniti is a Luxury brand in the states. The G35 is a model under that luxury brand name, and the COUPE is very sporty if not just that, but the SEDAN version is not sporty it had less horsepower. In Japan it is a Skyline yes. and in Japan a Q45 is nothing more than a Nissan as well just like that Skyline....... weird huh? hahahaha

the Q45 was also a full out luxury car in japan. The skyline doesn't really carry a luxury impression. Thats why I'm hesitant to consider a G35 as a project. It's weird because I've seen VERY hot G35 VIP styled cars. Though in a traditional VIP sense, it's not REALLY VIP, if I strictly looked at it as a skyline, I would tend to think the term for one would be more Auto Luxury, and not really VIP.

It's odd with the Nissan/Infiniti difference, because things are different. G35 is in a luxury class here, but skyline I wouldn't tend to see so much like that.

Ya thats kinda true in a way. But even the new GT-R will be under Infiniti and that can hardly be called a luxury car.

Its nothing personal. It's just that there are many models here in North America that are labeled under Lexus or Infiniti that are not VIP Platform is all I'm really trying to say.

Even though in Japan they have the exact same models they dont fully classify them as "Luxury Sedans" because automatic is apart of that luxury and V8 is just apart of the higher class. Its kinda like what separates BMW's 3 series from 7 series. 

Don't get me wrong when the G's are done up right they look sick as hell but Nissan did originally build the Skyline specifically as a sports car. Just like when Toyota built the IS/Altezza they wanted to design their first 4 door sports. Alot of people may differ and say "well there was the Chaser//Mark II/Cressida" but even those with 1JZ-GTE they were actually originally designed for just regular daily use.

I say just do it... I want to do a VIP inspired G sedan but I found a coupe so I am going with that

Actually if you check with any enthusiast... the G35 or V35 chassis was the only chassis model in the skyline legacy that wasn't considered a true sports car since it never even had the GTR moniker in those years (02-06) so it was never accepted as a true skyline...here or Japan. Everyone believed it was a watered down version aimed more towards the family man more than the enthusiast. Even though the coupe does have some power (280hp-298hp for the full manual sedan or coupes) it was still not more than the 350Z and only marginally more than the R34 (276hp). So to say the G35 models were "sports cars" is a little more than misleading....especially when it comes to the sedans. Just food for thought! No argument about it not being platform and only VIPstyled!

not true. the GTR will be Nissan in Japan and here too!
 
but for the question posted here, i agree that the g35 can be vip style but not an actuall vip platform. typically these cars are the top elite models sold by the car maker. right now the M45 is the model that fits that bill!

just thinkin the same thing lookin at my homies g last night.

it almost resembles to G body but with a shorter ass and a longer front.

so like a sportier GS, i would say.

g35 is a LUXURY SPORTS SEDAN aimed to go up against bmw series 3, benz c class, lexus IS and audi A4. you can say its VIP in USA point of view but definetly not Japan's point of view since they already have a trade mark of their platforms for VIP. If going back to the root you can have a G35 thats VIP inspired but not a VIP platform just like kei cars and mini vans. here's more information to give you true definition of VIP...
