Youzealand for LS430

ok guys, how does thing work ? what part of the suspension does it change / adjust ?

how much drop will it give me ? shall I go with a youzealand + lowering spring combo or shall I just get a coilover set up ? I need 3 inches of drop both front and rear, what is the best choice to gain maximum drop while maintaining maximum strut rod travel ?

its like a lower ball joint spacer. it raises the lower ball joint wich raises the spindle wich lowers the car

Is this the ss kit you guys are talking about? i'm trying to get some info on a SS kit and i've heard that Youzealand & junction produce make a SS kit for the ucf 30 so i'm trying to get as much info as possible & some pics if anyone has them.

Yes You Zealand and JP both make 2 types of kits. The SS kit and the SS pro kits. The SS kit only adds a 1.5" spacer between the steering knuckle/spindle assembly and the lower ball joint, while the pro kits replace the entire lower ball joint assembly.

The kit is supposed to drop the vehicle an additional 1.5" around.

yes, on GS models this is a problem because it raises the upper A arm which (if your lowered on coilovers or air) it starts to hit the firewall.  Not sure about LS but just be aware of this

racinstylez has the youzealand ss kit on his 430, it drops it by 1in

Oh really, but this as a stand alone drop is okay? or should someone just get springs to go low wuthout bagging their car?

ls 4oo's have that problem but unsure about 430

Yes, you can run the SS kits with your stock suspension but keep in mind that it'll only drop the car 1-1.5" from stock (which is not very low at all).

Haha. Funny. someone told me that YouZealand makes all these kits for JP. When I whipped out the instructions, the top of the page read YouZealand...even thought the box it came in was wrapped with JP tape.

 Lol that's funny....but you see that alot even with factory parts companys just add their name to stuff and charge accordingly.

looks like something a machine shop could whip out for cheap and sell them for 100 bucks a set.

Yes. I wish I had the time, the tools and the skills to fab up my own kit. These things look simple and does not look hard to make.

I can't wait to see pics....i just might end up adding a set of tanabe springs on top of the SS kit to get it down lower....I'm basically going crazy trying to decide between the SS kit or AIR, i'm gonna get the SS kit anyway ride it for a while to see how it feels. then if i decide to get lower i'll add the springs.

Okay. So I finally installed my ss kit after work. I did not get a chance to take good pics but I did manage to take a few (as I was on a time frame). First off, I do like the kit. It noticeably dropped my ride, however there were some problems which I confronted. 

If you have the stock 17's, you will run into clearance problems. If you have the factory 18's or larger than no problem. The factory front lower ball joint bolts are 17mm. The one supplied with the kit is 24mm and the head of the bolt has a dome shape. Because of this it rubbed (BAD) with my stock 17's and basically gouged it.

The kit was easy to install. It took me about 1.5 hours as I already installed my coilovers a few months ago (so I know what needs to be removed). Keep in mind that you must also remove the rear seat. The kit comes with a shim that needs to be installed under one of the rear upper strut plate nuts. Not sure what this is for. My guess is to correct toe, but I could be wrong.

Currently I have Tein CS's. I have been running it at full drop. After the install, I have left the rear coiled at full drop and raised the front about 1". The pics above are bad as its hard to see the full drop. The vehicle was sitting on 2 x 4 blocks in those pics. That's why it looks so high.

Mikey, I may need to pick up the spacers from you. 3mm right? I probably might have to run Yoshi's wheels (Weds Rapiers). Only thing we test fitted it and the front won't clear the factory BBK. 3mm should do it. I'll call you today or call me.

By any chance do you have a picture of the shim you are talking about for the rear struts !!

Sorry man. I don't have pics but all it looks like is a washer with a section cut out to look like the letter "c". It's about 2mm thick.

The cut out on the washer is so when installing the spacer, you don't need to remove the nut (but loosen it) and slide the spacer in.

Looks good now i have to order mine...correct me if i'm wrong but you were already on coilovers then you added the SS kit to go lower? because your LS is seriously dropped in those pics.

Correct. I was already on Tein CS's. 

Due to the rubbing issues, I am going to use my friends wheels (thanks Yoshi). I am going to mount them tomorrow night then take some picks. Woohoo.

As it turns out, the problem was the outer tierod ends were rubbing against the inner section of the wheels. Again, nothing 18" and bigger wheels couldn't fix.

And my friends wheels did not fit (even with a 3mm spacer). Didn't clear my factory BBK.

I will post it up later today. I reinstalled my friends HRE's which I have decided to buy from him. I started to install it at 1am and didn't finish till 2:30am (I had to readjust the coilovers).

Okay, I finally took some pics yesterday. These pics show the LS with Tein CS with the JP SS kit. The rear is fully cranked down, while the fronts are 12mm up from the fully down position. 

I am once again on my friends HRE's which I have decided to pick up from him. The wheel and tire combo is kind of small as it came off a 2nd gen GS (front: 245/35 19, rear: 275/30 19), LS's would require a size bigger.

I cannot ride like this (although I tried), I end up rubbing on the front pretty bad. I now daily the LS with it 25mm up from the fully down position on the front and 15mm up in the rear. I do this with no real problems.

rather than youzealand + tein cs, mind as well get two way coilovers that will allow u go lower than the tein CS.

That is true. 

The Tein CS does NOT drop very low (fnt: 2.1, rear 1.9). There are other coilovers out there that will drop way lower than the Teins. Pair it up with the SS kit and you could go just as low as air. 

The reason I went with Teins is for 2 reasons:

1. Tein offers one of the best if not THE best ride quality of all the coilovers out there (almost the same as stock). However people have complained about it being too soft.

2. I got an EXTREMELY good deal on the Teins. And I knew with the price of the Teins and the SS kit, I spent way less than other coilovers out there.

In my honest opinion, if you want a really low stance (tucking wheel and tire), and ride quality is something you are willing to sacrifice, find a coilover that will allow you to drop lower to begin with (ie. JIC, Zeal, etc). Then if you are not satisfied with the drop at it's lowest setting, then pick up the SS kit. 

This only applies if you don't want air. If you want air you may not need and SS kit, although you can use the SS kit with an air setup.

My thing is ride quality i need a good/decent ride but i also want to go low...i torn i'm just gonna get the SS kit and go from there if i decide to go lower then i'll just sell the kit and start from scratch.

Only thing is the SS kt alone will only drop it about 1-1.5", which isn't much. If you already have a drop (ie. springs) then add the 1-1.5" on the the drop of the springs to find your total drop.

Tein CS ride quality is really good. It's the same as stock (and I have it on the firmest setting). Some say the ride quality is better than stock. If you are concerned with ride quality, I'd say go with the Teins.

Just opened up my youzealnd ss pro kit box for my ucf30 before mc and I think i'm missing the rear spacer parts. Did your kit come with the nice gold spacers for the rear??? Can't figure out the Japanese instructions either as it shows pics of having to remove the rear seats? Can you give me some install tips?

OK, nevermind. I assumed the spacers were for the rear but correct me if I'm wrong the big gold blocks go on the rear and the arm thing on the front instead of just the round spacers in the front as shown in the ss standard kit?

yeah the gold blocks go on the rear and the arms with 4 smaller blocks go on the front. btw there should also be 2 washers that will need to go on the top of the shock  in the rear. i believe it was mentioned ealier in this thread.

Thanks for the clarification. Did you use the washers above the shocks? It seems many opt not to but there must be some reason its included and in the directions...

yes i did use the washers because it seem neccessary since the angle of the shocks are altered when the ss kit installed in the rear. the washers take up the space on one of the top hat stud that's created from the difference in the mounting angle of the shock.

I see. Do you remember which one of the bolts the washer goes under? I'm assuming there are three in a triangle pattern. Are they the ones furthest out or in toward the midline
of the car?? I get my car back from the body shop today and Plan to install them this weekend.
