whats wit the green tint?

i would like to know what is with the green tint? and would it be alright to tint it like 70% or less? or is darker better?:yahoo_39:

With the green tint the lighter the better. Alot of the cars in Japan run around 70%, which is extremely light. More light getting in = more obvious green
 
Green tint is popular in Japan, so therefore it is popular outside of Japan too. Plus it just looks sick on a black/white car!

I think it was something that older luxury cars did back in the old days.  I have to agree with Dominik though, it looks sick on a light color car.

Green tint is the equilvalent of JDM car w/ neon lights or that JDM sticker.....
Jus another trendy thang to be different and stand out!

I love the entire VIP scene but the green tint i can't rock with that...for me it's either black tint or no tint.IMO

I think the green looks good...actually the VW toureg stock tint looks awesome...tinted yet hint of green...

Not to get off the subject but is it me or does some mercedes look as if they have a hint of blue on their windows?

I agree that it's just a trendy thing to do.  It really doesn't do much function wise.  Limo tint or no tint for me.  Green tint doesn't offer any privacy and it can't do much for blocking heat from the sun either.   Meanwhile, I can get in my car on the hottest days of summer and it's relatively cool inside.

I diagree entirely.  I have had both charcoal tint and now green tint..and the green tint keeps the car cooler inside.  It attracts/absorbs less heat than a black based color.  I use 35% UV personally.  I love it..my customers love it too.  Saying that a UV protected tint with a moderate opacity has no function, is just silly.  How are you arriving at your findings?  Mine comes from direct personal experience...

I've allways used limo tint and allthough it keeps you cool its illegal on the front windows in most states..I hate to see cars with lighter tint in the front and limo in the back..I think that looks off. And greeen might be trendy in Japan but I am the only one in Tucson with green tint and every one else is sporting limo..I think you have it backwards. if folks want more privacy shoot strech out the curtains, thats what they are for anyways :biggthumpup:

+2..^^^ I also have Green %35 with UV and live in the hot ass desert where temps get to 115* and I have never felt cooler..This green tint not only looks good its functional and also does not distract night time driving like limo...

i took off perfectly fine green tint and put 3M carbon film on it.  i dont like the green tint look, especially on a black car.  i think it looks cool on a white car with tan interior though.  silver it looks ok too i guess.

if youre gonna get green tint get LLUMAR ATX ceramic tint.  it is lifetime warranty blocks out a lot of heat and 99% UV and will not interfere with internal signals like, AM, NAV, Keyless entry, cell phones, TPMS, garage door openers, etc.  a lot of the green films out there are metallic.  metallic is old school and shouldnt be put on a current luxury vehicle for reception and warranty purposes.  if your green isnt metallic than its dyed and will fade to clear in 3 years.

nowadays the only cars we put metallic films on are vehicles and trucks with pole type antennas.

Ok, then, cool if it works!  I still prefer black, it's cleaner IMO, plus with curtains, it's total privacy.  And I like the way it looks when the back is darker than the front too, it gives a Royal Saloon style to it.  Again, just IMO, and yes, I am entitled to my own opinion.

i have 50% on all windows of my ride.  its very light but to me it fits the style of the car.  on all my others cars i have it darker, but always uniformly tinted.  i dont like the half and half look

having the front lighter makes it look like you dont have big enough cahoonies to roll all limo..When ever I have used limo..I allways went limo all around. That looks cleaner as it flows better. Thats my opinion .IF I got pulled over I took it off flaged a cop down signed off the ticket and went and had it reinstalled..FT PoPo's

^^^hell yeah, my last car i tinted it limo and went a week than added another layer of limo.  was super dark and gangsta.  but people who rode in the back at night got motion sickness.

before I had the green tint I had a layer of %35 mirror all around with limo behind it..Talk about super dark and cool and privacy..you could not see in the car for shiat..and even in the day it felt like I was rolling in the shade the whole way..kekkekekekeek..but I do admit in  the night time it was so dark I could not really see out and allways had to roll down my window when back out of my drive way...thats untill I discovered the beatuy of the GREEN...:biggthumpup:

Well i rock 20% on all my windows except the front on the front i run 50% i guess i don't have cahoonies. where i live theirs not that much crime as neighboring boroughs so the cops out here are reall hard on tinted windows.

my green tint was checked on one of those meters @ 25%...blocks out the heat and I'm in TX...not sure where these guys that says it doesn't work are getting their info from...talking out their asses probably

Looking into this as the time goes by .. My tint seems like 5 % in the back and with curtains , shit you cant even see the damn curtains ... have to roll the window down so you can see ... 

It would be nice to have an even green all the way around the car and Not to dark .. but enough ...

what color is your car? I drive a white one and the one and only tint i go with is the Titanium tint or aka Knight chrome.. Its not mirror looks mirror but has a green on it...looks really good when  the suns hits it... 20% would look really nice not too dark or too light...

I think it kinda makes them feel like they're still inside their office since soft green is mostly the tint for office buildings... But, I know one thing, IT LOOKS COOL!

Will it look good on lighter cars like white, silver, desert gold, etc. ?

To me it looks good on white cars and maybe black in my opinion.. Just flows better and silver but i love the tint i have major blockage on the sun :biggthumpup:

i wish i could have 50% tint but the law says we can only have 20% tint max. that sucks.

the law is pretty much the same here, but i have dark tints all around. on my other car the integra i have close to limo on the front

How about combining tints, like limo in the back, light green in the front? Is it done, would it look nice?

50% tint is lighter than 20%..you should be fine..

I had to remove the hooks for my side window shades in order to put the curtain rails :(

i had limo tint on my last car and grew out of it. it was to dark and hard to see through at night. plus i got a couple of warnings then ticketed and told that i had to remove it. state laws dont allow me to tint that dark. with my Q ill only be goin a little past legal, i dont remember what the limit is in mass but it will look dark enough plus when i install the curtains the tint will only add to the look. I dont think i can legally color tint any of my windows or do the mirror tint, which i wouln't do neways. but on some cars the light green tint really helps it stand out.

If you have on your cars post up so we can see the different variations .. and maybe sticky ?

WoW green tint. Props for the people that can rock them on there cars  =)  Something that not every one can pull it off.

Can I get these in lower than 20%?

When I first read this I was thinking wow thats some really ricey stuff then I saw it and I actually really like it.  The only thing is it would really only look good on certain color cars, my car being a greenish color I couldnt pull it off, but on a white or black car.. maybe even a beige car it would look NICE.

the % refers to the amount of light that is allowed through, most states you can tint all rear windows to 0% if you want (you arent required to even have glass(panel vans and ish) as long as you have 2 exterior rear view mirrors) but you cant go lower then 20% on the front door windows

I like the green tint more on lighter cars. I chose to just get the regular 20% smoke all around except the windshield. The only thing I don't like about tint period on Y33 Q45's is that the rear window doesn't seem to accept tint too well at the very top of the window so most have to trim a good 4" strip off, with that being said, it doesn't allow the tint to make the window look like it was was a factory colored glass. So if I were going after the green glass look on my car, it would look like it was definitely applied and not standard like the Mercedes blue glass.
