frozen coliovers

so the adjustable part (not the spring perch) of the threaded shock and the body that bolts up to van is stuck. i need to lower it this way but it wont come undone. i tried wd40 but no luck. any ideas. here are a couple of visuals that may help you understand what im talking about (these are my coilovers but not my actual set). their separated but you can see what i mean.

wrap a cloth aroudn the shock
put it in a vice
put something in the mounting hole, and use a hammer

yeah, i'd try that...
 
mallet before hammer though...

Nah, hammer on the item through the mounting hole
 
It is more liekly to break loose with a Hit, than constant pressure.
you can also try tapping along hte bottom bracket where the threads are, it will aid in breaking up the dirt between the threads.

thanks so guys... so i will have to give it try in a week or so, so i want all the ideas i can get so i can try them all at once. (on a side note what color should i repaint the silver body of the coilovers when i get them apart?)

I'd say pink but sad to say, it's become too expected.

So my vote goes for an unusual colour, like aubergine. Are you doing a base/clear, or a powdercoat?

i wouldn't hammer any part of the coilover...only as a last option...
 
use mallet first, if that doesn't work, use a hammer and 2x4...if that doesn't work, try yokota's way...

Or, you can do my way, and have guaranteed results with no damage...
 
Im always the guy people come to here when they buy used coilovers, and cant break them loose lol

try a bunch of PB...and let it sit over night..then hit it up again.

btw, i suggest using pb blaster. let it sit over night like someone else had mentioned. if  that fails, they its MC Hammer time.

so its sat in pb, been atached to a vice and wrenched on and even steamed.... i think i will have to hit it with a hammer.......you see i have no garage so i had to bring it to the shop where i got them and they couldnt do it. i feel so defeated.

Yokotas is right. Ive sold tons of used coilovers. It wont do any damage with a hammer. 

Use a hammer and a thick flat head screw driver. Use common sense and it will come loose. PB blast helps alot.
