My KA9 with Kranze

My Weds Kranze Rapiers arrived this week.

I have some ST115 215/35/19 all around to be mounted. 
 
Eliteautostyle is providing me with a new set of Anceltion coilovers. Dampening adjustable/double tap.
They are coming from Japan and should arrive soon.
 
Here is the test fit! I haven't tested the front yet but I may need a small spacer. Rear has about 2mm clearance at full compression.

Screw that!  I drive mine everyday and will be sitting on something more aggressive.  Don't let the fact that it's your daily driver be your reason not to get crazy.  =)

its not just a daily driver, i take trips from atlanta ga. to new orleans la. very regularly.
ive had my car almost 3 years and been thru more tires than i wanted just for keeping it dropped. with that said, im  just not feeling the need push the limits on camber unless i have the ability to adjust ride height with the flick of a switch instead of coilovers that are a pain in the ass to adjust.

I feel you on that one.  I didn't know you travelled that much.  Yours is still going to look nice though.  Can't wait to see it finished!

Thanks guys.  Rear fenders are rolled.  Now I need some really short lugs because there is very little distance from the lug seats to the center cap.

AME, how flat did your rear fenders turn out when you rolled them?  Also, how did you deal with the tack welds?  We were afraid to roll mine due to thinking the tack welds would collapse the fender.

That's what we were using but were afraid to go any further with the spot welds there.  So you didn't have any issues with them Max?

 have any of you just tried trimming it down instead of rolling. ive never had a bit of trouble from mine. its been done for quite awhile.  no rust , no rubbing .

I have considered trimming them but I would rather roll them flat. Trimming willbe a last resort.

I rolled them with an Eastwood fender roller and heat gun.  I went slow but it was really easy.  Honda metal is thin and easy to work with.  I didn't roll them flat.  They were about 20mm to start with and I rolled them over so they are about 10mm thick still.  I didn't want to crack the paint. 

Only paint damage is a tiny slit about 5mm long.  You can't tell that the fenders are rolled at all.

If it was a Toyota or Lexus I would have cut them.

This is true, rolling honda fenders are cake just make sure you take it slow. ive rolled the fenders on my integra, and once we get a nice day in ny im gonna roll the RL to prepare for the newly finished rims.

I have rolled my Civic fenders but they didn't have the tack welds like my RL does.  But I will go for round two then.  Thanks guys.

Went for round two on the rear fenders this weekend.  I wasn't able to get them completely flat like I wanted but they did move in a decent amount more.  I would love to get them flat but it looks like that may require some light body work.

I had the same issue.  I wanted them flat but I didn't want to risk damaging the paint.  Mine are rolled enough to clear my wheels but not flat.

Hopefully soon.  Just waiting on the coilovers to arrive and some short tuner lugs.  They should all arrive sometime this month.  I'll be getting my tires mounted shortly as well.

This (probably) should allow for some 19x10s with 30s out back and possibly 9s up from with nice dish. especially seeing that you've got +28s on 8.5s and they're just barely touching...i think you should clear the fender or sit flush with it...I'm guesstimating though so i can't be trusted LOL. I actually have both on my car right now.  My fronts adjust 3 degrees though.  And yes, I am pretty positive that you can slip a 10 inch wheel with a +35 or so in there.

Yes they are going bankrupt.  These were in stock at a large shop that sells on Yahoo Auctions and were on clearance.  Eliteautostyle hooked it up.   Just talk to Justin at Elite and he can find out if there are more available for you :)

Coilovers and wheels are installed.   A complete success.  

I am really happy with the RL and this setup.  The car has LOTS of clearance underneath compared to my SC400.  No problems with big speed bumps/driveways.  I've been adjusting the height today so that there is no fender gap and just a little tire is tucking.  

Ground to fender height is 600mm all around.  Rides pretty nice so far.  Obviously stiffer but I will play with the dampening settings more this week and get an alignment.  I need some 3mm spacers for 8.5 +40 in the front then it should be nice fitment all around.

Yes I do have a small vibration under acceleration!  It seems to increase with the amount of load.  If I start off on an uphill there is more vibration compared to a flat surface.  I'm not sure what thats about.  

Yep I took off the mud flaps because I was already scraping them on speed bumps while it was stock.  You can see the dirt in the pics from where the mud flaps were.

I actually had it lower but the fronts rubbed the fender when turning on an up/down inclines and driveways!  On the front it looks like there is wheel gap in the 2nd pic but there is none in person.  The front is level with the fender and the rear is about 5mm lower.

I spoke to the owner of The Drive Shaft Shop, a company that is known for producing custom fwd driveshafts for race Hondas for those that didn't know, and he walked me through some measurements to see if the axle was too short.  Mainly you will see vibration from the inner cv under acceleration when the inner cv is pulling itself apart or if the cv axle is an aftermarket unit due to the not so strict tollerances as the factory units.  I was told that factory cv's should fix the issue since the length wasn't an issue from my measurements.  Hopefully this fixes it.

1.  I can't clear a speed bump to get into my parking garage.  I had it 5mm lower all around, and I couldn't get the car over without scraping the exhaust.  I get the front wheels over the bump, then slowly crawl and it just scrapes like crazy.  Not enough clearance.

2.  Driveways and inclines.  If the wheel is turned, it rubs like crazy.  I can't drive the car if I can't go into driveways at all.  

Its very low in person.  Better pics coming soon :)

My exhaust hits almost everytime I attempt it so I just steer clear of them now.  The driveways I encounter are not bad at all and I have't had any rubbing in the front yet.  The rear is a different story though.  If you take the rear wheels off and look up into the fenderwell you will see an upraised section of the inner fender that pokes out.  I rub on that!  The actual outer fender you see is cleared easily.  My springs in the rear are 6k but I think I may still need something a little stiffer.

I'll be interested to see if that fixes the vibration.  I'm sure most owner replace their axles with aftermarket instead of OEM.  

Its actually quite low.  I don't have any problems rubbing in the rear but I'll check out that lip you are talking about this week.

I will have to check the picture out when I get home.  They are blocked here at work.  I am used to looking at my car with the 18's on it so I am sure yours is just as low.  I am hoping that the factory cv's fix the problem as well.  I will let you know how it goes when I get them.

just to give alittle insite on past experience.  i never had a problem with vibration until i put brand new (oem) cv shafts, rims ,tires, camber kit and a fresh alignment.  i think im just used to it now.

Yeah, I am afraid that the cv's won't fix the issue.  That will give me a sad face!  I may possibly cry as well.

There really is nothing to roll up front.  There are a few tabs for the clips that hold the fender liner on that you can push up and out of the way but there is no lip to roll.

did u have the vibrations with your previous wheels ? if not then it's not your axle's. 

try center rings, if that doesn't work then it could be that your front wheels are warped bent.

I had an alignment done today.  The mechanic also has a slammed honda and confirmed that its the angle of the axles.  

I got some shorter lugs, alignment, 3mm spacers and center caps are on.   

-2.5 deg all around.  I'm really happy with the fitment.

Hondas normally have vibration issues when extremely lowered.  My Civic had a slight vibration as well but not as bad as my RL.  I can live with it honestly but it would be nice to have it gone.  I need to align mine still.  I can't even get it on the rack at work to align it myself.  haha  I need to find a shop I trust to align it now.  :(

I finally got around to getting mine aligned.  -2 degrees all around.  Sits great now.  I am in love all over again.  :)

Dam that looks nice.I would just opt to paint the car a different color.Seems the wheels are a little too bright for the dark finish.

If that's the color i think it is, the pics aren't doing it justice. It's a really powerful color. Shifts from dark blue to purple to medium blue in the right lights.

Yep that is the blue it looks much brighter in direct sunlight.

what are you camber specs? and how much of a drop are you sporting?

i don't think those wheels work well with that car .. Maybe a silver or Machine finish will be better in my eyes ..  But to each its own ..

Yes I did sell this and have an F50 now.  I miss my KA9!  

I had -2.5 deg camber all around.  215/35/19 Falken ST115 on 19x8.5 provided could clearance.   I was on Anceltion coilovers and put it as low as I could while still be able to lightly scrape a speed bump on the way out of the condo complex I was living at.  Not sure how low it was.   The front upper control arms were hitting the car and my next step would have been cutting a hole for them to clear.
