re-doing interior need exp
ok so im going to re-do my whole inteior myself (with assistance from a few friends)
now i will start with color scheme. basically i will go red and black. i will start from the bottom up. 1st i will do he carpet. i found this outdoor carpet at home depot thats black and very soft and very easy to work with (not stiff at all). i figure after i lay all of my sound deadining i will glue a thin layer of padding then the carpet...?... now the dash will probally be painted. i want a flat or satin look to match the oem look as much as i can. any suggestions on paint? hhow hard would it be to wrap it with leather or vinyl? the rest will just be re-wrapping the vinyl with vinyl or leather... any tips?

i'm not sure about your particular application, but i would try to find a molded replacment carpet if available. using flat carpet will mean cutting and sewing a lot of the time and the results are usualyy not as nice, but it might be a different story for a van.
i chose to paint my interior pieces after i saw how they were put together. since my dash was bsically just thick pressed plastic wrapping would have taken away the oem fit/finish i was going for. the shape of your parts, construction, and desired look should all be considered in making the decision, if you do dicde to paint i recommend sem color coat. its great stuff to work with and designed specifically for plastic/vinyl.

This guy was in the progress of changing his interior from tan to black. He used either Foliatec or SEMS paint for the dash and other interior parts. It's really good looking.

yeah... i was kind of interested to see what it was about too, but that stuff is impossible to find. i've been very happy using sem and it has been pretty well accepted as THE product to use for a while now, but it still peeked my interest. geuss i'll never know.

I used SEM on my SC300, 3 years of South Florida sun, all kinds of cleaners, driving with windows down, you name it, still looks like the day I painted it. It's really good stuff.
