~Is it ok to have different brand tires (F&R)~
Like the topic said.. For example, I went to the tire shop to look for a pair of Nexen front tires(225-40-18) and they have it.. But tire retailer told me Nexen dont carry 245-35-18.. Somehow I have different brand (Bridgestone Potenza 245-40-18) for the rear.. Is it weired to have different brand tires from front and rear..

tire shops will say no..but I also have three types of tires on my car..and dont see any difference in ride quality.
as long as they are all directional should not really matter...of course you may have different stretches or the way the tire looks but uumm to answer your question...tires are tires and unless you are really pushing your cars limits on a race track I dont think it matters one bit.

im rolling nankangs up front and nexens for the rears. i might just go nexens all around since they've been holding up for a while already. and it gave me a nice stretch

My girl thought I was nutz when I told her I couldn't see myself paying $500 for one tire when I could get a whole set for $800. She was like "So your tellin me, even though your other three tires are good, your gonna buy a whole set?", I was like well.....yeh, besides, just think of the others as spares. If you can swing it, match it up! IMO.

i dont mind if the front and rear are different, left and right would certainly bother me though

^^^ i agree. you can have different brands front and rear, but i wouldnt run different side to side. since our cars are rwd i would want the rears the same tread so you wouldnt feel any pull to one side. if i were fwd i would keep my fronts the same for the same reason. i like to keep the same tread too on fronts or rears.

For shows its one thing but for daily driving, who cares? U cant even really see the brand on my tires since they are stretched so much and the fender is covering lots of tire.

It is ok, but if you could run all the same brand, it's best to do that. Tires are designed with certain characteristics and it's safer to run the full set since the qualities of the tires would be consistent in terms of performance.
If you tracked your car, I would say it would be a problem in having different brands.
I am like pancakes, I like uniformity.

Ive had nankangs front, federal rear. Now have falken front, federal rear. No big deal, although I cant stand the federals in the back any more, but they last a long time with a decent alignment. Now, left and right mixmatch, thats a different story.

I agree few of ya have different brand tires (F&R).. Different size tires with same name brand cost more.. I dont like to spend expensive tires because lower the car will eat the tires.. I didnt take my ride to do alignment becuase there is no place to find for lower car to do alignment. When I was at Lexus dealership (I work there) few mechanics said why you want different brand tires.. I told them dont ya know camber can cuz tire bald.. Spend expensive tires are waste of money to me.. I rather spend cheaper and I dont care about the performance. I care about the budget I make because in the future, my fiancee and I plan to move out..

Naw! Because w/ camber sticking out, you can see the different tread patterns on each and/or same side! + You can tell the difference........I can
But like I stated I can't knock anyone for because you gotta do what ya gotta do!
