Lets lay it all down on the table..

So I had time to think about some shiat while I was away for a few hours..and I thought to myself that why do some of us get along while others inlcuding myself cant get along..Well I have come up with an assumption..
 
When I first joined this forum I was affriad to post up anything..I lurked for a while and when I finally did I got excepted pretty quick from some of the OG's at that time..from What i remember it was all about platform and sticking to the strick routes of it all and I think I actually was molded into one of these types of people..at any minute they (myself) would bark at you when you least expect it.. That was something to me that in the beggining I felt thats mest up but came to become apart of. I know I have alot of,, well,,, to put it bluntly,,,,, internet enemies because of my past behavior. THis is not an appology speech to any one imparticular but I do think it is very important for folks like you and me understand why we are who we are and be able to agree to disagree.
 
I know I give the perception that I am above the rest..becuase more than one person has told me so. I have allways had some of the best whips in tucson becuase I use to roll..when you are in the game folks judge you for what car you roll and how done up it is...and its a hard habit to break off of once you are in it deep. Now with my Q I get so much attention that its just crazy from old men to young ballers...heads just allways turn. Not to mention I have had many many complaments about my ride on this forum I guess I got pretty big headed. In honesty I do see my car as a car that looks like it belongs in Japan..but dont we all see our cars this way..thats where the fights begin..I have gotten caught up in impressing internet friends that lost site of what its all about..
 
I do truly believe that thier are the guidliens of VIP and then there all the sideline guidlines of VIP. IF I never stumbled onto this Q I would have never known about VIP..the car actually chose its routes for modding not me. I think alot of you Q owners know what I am talking about. hahahahaa
 
Now if I have offended some of you all I can understand your negative feelings about me and this is the thread to speak your mine..BUT rather than bashing eachother lets debate on a mature level and keep the thread open..
 
This thread is not just for me but if one of you see yourselfs having conflits with another member post it here and deal with it so that all of VSC are not closed because we cant get along..THis is the thread to lay it all on the table and get your fustrations out and handle your business whether it be about what is VIP and whats not VIP..what hieght is more appreaciated..what cars are more acceptable if they are non platform cars,,what kind of customizations are good and what kind are lame..and much more..
 
Now I can see this thread getting heated up very fast if we done act mature so WE OWE IT TO OURSELVES AND THE REST OF THE COMMUNITY DO DEBATE IN A MATURE AND RESPONCABLE WAY!!!
 
I know BlackonBlack will most likely be the first to post..because we had a heated argument..but rather than trying to prove whos shawang is bigger lets tackle the direct issues with eachother so that we can move on..I actually got tired of arguing with him today and think that if all of us do this we will find it less likely that we have the energy to continue to argue in every post..  Thus making VSC a better spot..:biggthumpup:

Not really saying anything bad to you, but does it really matter at this point in the game?

Even the Yakuza weren't as uptight about their cars as some of the guys on this board. They like to try different things, the move on from the stagnant same old, same old. It's fine to do something different.

If they were really as uptight about it, "Wagonist" styles and Mitsubishi Diamante wouldn't be in the mix. But they are, and people do buy those cars in Japan and apply VIP styling to them. If they were as uptight as you're being, The Mazda Sentia wouldn't have been brought in

I've been a member in one form or another of this forum since around 2003-2004. I could be here for maybe 2 days before I ran across something just down right repugnant on this forum and it'd turn me away. Happened several times. Maybe i'm a glutton, maybe i just love VIP styling.

Believe it or not, this is the premier place that people come to for information on VIPStyling. I know that if for the last couple years i've been able to consistently come here and get turned off, there's been THOUSANDS of people who came up looked around, saw the atmosphere of hostility, spite, and antipathy, clicked back and never showed up again. Not that they didn't understand, but who wants to be associated with seemingly snobish people (not saying anyone is actually a snob), especially when we're talking about Transportation of "Chinpara"?



I love how this site is run now, good moderators that catch and put an end to silly fighting, and calm the place down. There's been a quelling of  highly offensive material, It's more grown up....plus it just looks cool too, lol.

The attitude has since subsided, there's more cohesion in this community than there was before even though there's still some infighting among individuals, it's less an "Us Versus Them" deal than it was before.

I'm glad VIPStyleCars is here, and hope that with a tighter bond, This forum can be a strong player in the Popularization of VIPStyling in America...

There's all kinds of VIP Styled cars...K-Cars are not VIP Cars, nor is a Honda Accord Wagon, these are just cars that ended up being popular to mod because they looked cool and were inexpensive. If everything was set in stone in japan, there'd be no movement. why have them set in stone in the states when it's a trend created in Japan.

x2 , I can only really look through a few threads without just leaving cause its the same people preaching like they are ViP gods. Yes its annoying seeing some of the characters coming in the ViP 101 section but if we dont teach them the correct way without insulting them , then they gotta turn to mainstream publications who have no idea. Instead of bashing over pettiness and insulting people ..teach ..The knowledge you pass onto just one person can get passed on the next and so on and so on..Then hopefully someday you dont need a ViP 101 section.

I agree with you Zion... When I came to this family I was astonished with the site of little to no negative comments from the other members. If you didn't have a traditional platform we would tell you. I check this site everyday because of the respect most people have. 

Zion, PANCAKES, C4 President, no-othr, etc. all of you are cool in my book always leaving me + comments and/or telling me your opinions and you do the same for everyone else.

Hell I live in Kansas this is the only place for V.I.P.

the road i have chosen for myself in this LIFESTYLE (setting the trend of modding cars to the side and separate from what we the real enthusiasts are seeking and promoting) is one of both learning and teaching, while maintaining a very lax attitude about things. 
 
I came into the game with an 03 G35, spent 75% of what the car was worth on stuff to style the car as I PERCEIVED it would be done in Japan, and got the compliments from people here and on the streets for a car well built even if I never once believed my car was done, because like this trend or style, my expectations of what this car is supposed to look like is always changing. Do I have a VIPcar or VIPstyle car? by all definitions if we look at the style as a living breathing and changing thing rather than a stagnant and dying style that people are trying to keep alive, then yes my car would fit the bill. I could care less about the arguments. 
 
What was more important to me was, did I cheese out on any of the accessories I purchased for my vehicle? no. did I look for ways to cut corners? no. I don't like half assed jobs. I always approached every thing I did like as if someone was paying me to do it for them.... so I had to show my best. I appreciated all the comments I received from everyone here about my car, even more than the adoration I would get on the streets, because even though I was building the car for myself, it was nice to receive some praise from peers you hold high in your respects. Even when I got negative comments I took them for what they were, an observation I may have overlooked that required me to re-evaluate how it played into the scheme of my overall goal. 
 
Sure I could have gotten into worthless and childish fights on here, but why? I tried to take in stride. I'm not better than anyone, but I know I'm more inquisitive than most. I like figuring stuff out in conjunction with everyone here. It feels like family, dysfunctional as we may be, but still family.
 
I agree though, the climate is changing here, the site is policing itself and people are a little more relaxed aside from the skirmishes here and there. Way more different than the everyday tension from before the shutdown. VIP101 is a godsend. people "graduate" according to what they bring to the table, when mistakes are made in "grads", no problem, demotion time! 
 
After 2 years on here and ever since I became a mod, I appreciate you all and love your rides as well. and all I can say is best summed up with this...... play on playas!!!

I hate it how people slowly change for the worse once they build a nice car.  A car can get totalled in a blink of an eye, remember that.

I have one thing to say to this response. You haven't been here the whole time, you don't know how much crap we've had 'drifting' through this site, and you obviously don't realize that most of us who feel the same way I do, and say the same thing to the noobies day in and day out. You weren't around when the site got shut down for a month for the same crap that's been happening since I first registered here myself. Back then there was only like 2 'vip style' cars here. A guy with an RSX, and firelizard (sorry buddy, I cannot remember your name for the life of me right now). 
 
Now we've got all sorts of stuff rolling through here thinking they know what vip is about, and all of them say the same thing: "vip style is for cars that aren't vip cars". They all say: can i make XXXXX car a vip car. blah blah blah. Same stuff day in and day out. Please look at the VIP101 section. Look at how many people actually DON'T have a car, or want to make their whatever car a 'vip car'. This is the kind of stuff us die hard people feel should not be here, because really, it's just messing up that style we all love to look at. 
 
Other's who say " oh let them do what they want" are the ones that will contribute to the 'washing out' of the scene that will happen, when it gets so muddied up that everybody will be rolling around with half ass cars, and calling them vip. 
 
I'll just stick to my game plan and keep building my car for me. I've said my peace, I've said what I feel, I've said what irks me the most on this site. 
 
Build your car for yourself, and if you want to join the game of building vip cars, start off by buying the proper platform.

You are one of the people I admire when it comes to inspirational rides.... but as a long time running member and as much of a die hard you are, not claim, but are like zion..... I worry that this evolving lifestyle and trend (trend = The general course or prevailing tendency; a long-term movement or change in frequency) is dangerously close to passing you guys up. A lot OG's got where they are by pushing the envelope and trying new things, look at the cars in Japan, if they had been satisfied with "tradition" we wouldn't have sik examples camber and fitment, or even crazy interiors and LED modifications. But it was that need to show each other up that moved it along and made it last as long as it has, like everything in life without change it is left behind as a part of history. Sentias made it to the scene because of this thinking, wagons, vans, k-cars, boxes, 300c's, soarers, and others..... all in Japan. Why are we so different and so self loathing? why can't we believe that maybe, just maybe, there can be something innovating in this style coming out of America? from maybe even one of our own members? just food for thought man and yes yes i'll stay on topic hahahahaha

I really do hate it when people buy a VIPcar to be accepted on this forum or to get a piece in the VIP trend but it's life and we just gotta deal with it.  In the end one person builds a better car than another, what can you do?

You (anybody) don't have to follow the guidelines but just know that there are basic guidelines to building a VIPstyled car, if you can't follow the bare essentials, go DUB...whatever.

Life doesn't start or end here on VSC.

I think everybody who has posted has pretty much summed up the common frustrations of the board. VIP 101 section I think is doing it's job though. There are  allot of people getting familiar with VIP styling and yet there are still those who have no clue. I think you guys are doing a good job already just simply trying to point people in the right direction if they decide to VIP a non platform vehicle. Not much more you can do really but keep on truckin' </red neck accent>

I do also agree that their are a few members that seem like since their vehicles are pretty good mold of what a VIP car should look like look down a little on others trying to reach that same level of accomplishment but do not have the same capabilities. But those few members don't ruin the bunch so just keep at it, Keep informing, keep correcting, and main thing is when you see somebody on the right track keep the positive feedback, that if anything will help people stay on that right track and not veer away from it. :shrug:

that being said; too much damage has been done for me to ever respect you, but that does not mean we have to continue disrespecting each other. if you want to mask this under the cloud of "vip vs. vip style" then i'll play.
 
i have a huge respect for TRUE VIP. to me "vip style" is the same cop-out it is to you. however, when i see someone claiming "my vip style *" i take it for what its worth. here is somebody who is replicating this style in this car for whatever reason. go for it, its definitely not my (or anybody else's) place to judge.
 
i can only speak for me about this subject, since i don't know how everybody else got here, but when i was looking for ideas to build my car i stumbled accross vip. i was instantly fascinated because it shared a lot of the same styling cues I ALREADY HAD IN MIND. if i hadn't stumbled accross this style my car would have still ended up layed out on big wheels with a luxurios theme. vip brought a jdm flair and some things that i never even considered. it was a nice fit.
 
now is that the same as someone who has any old car, sees vip, and decides he wants to begin a project? maybe so, maybe not (i'll leave my opinion out on this one). all i know is we're all after the same goal. some will succeed, some will fail, but none should get bashed to the point of giving up. self policing is cool, but it should be through information not insult and attitude.
 
i could offer a $1,000,000 reward for the originator of vip. geuss what? i'd keep my money. the point? nobody owns vip so there is no reason to feel you need to protect it. think about the point where you got into vip. thats where your story begins. you do not know how many "wanna-bes" it took for vip to evolve to the point where you came into it. maybe none, maybe everything you know and love was originated by someone who was doing something against the norm (hint: thats how every unique style begins). theres some people who have a follower mentality and read a couple articles and recite a couple quotes and take it as the word. there are some people who have a real grasp on what vip (and car) culture is about and don't feel the need to put vip in a box. there are  some people who are, and will remain, completely clueless.
 
notice how up until this point i adressed the issue without adressing platforms? to me its more about how you interact with whatever community you CHOSE to become a part of. if you want page after page of platform cars pick up a magazine. there is no need for you to be here.
 
now, my thoughts on hardcore tradional platform based vip: i respect it 100%. i don't even like the term "vip style". to me that is trying to take something that is not and make it so. i'll be the first to admit at one point i fell victim, but i continued to learn. honestly, to think that vip is anything more than modifications taken from various sources and applied to a new platform is stupid. same with k-cars, wagonists, etc. the only difference is those styles were created in japan so they are excepted. you take a new, us based movement and its "wanna-be". if you don't see the irony than i'm sorry, but you will never get it.
 
so here i am, taking what i need from this great site and having to justify what i KNOW. i do not need anybody to tell me how, and definitely not which, to mod.

You wanted to black out your lights to give the image of it looking wider. I say why. I even posted up a really nice way to use those lights and make your car look sick as F&%^. and lots of folks agreed. That was trying to help you. If you want wider looking car than there are other ways to make it look wide. You could always wide body it. [/COLOR]

BlackonBlack. You have a LOT of potential, and I look forward to seeing your car finished. I think if you could roll as low as widebodyQ, on a stock body, with as wide as wheels, it would look sick. I love the way your interior is coming to be. 

Either way, if you both don't stop the pointless bickering, you'll both be banned, and we won't get to see the outcomes of your car. 

There's an ignore list. Put each other on that if you have to. You won't see each other on the forum anymore. If not, then simply just don't respond, or if you toss your opinion in, leave it as a suggestion. Don't take it any farther than that.

This is funny because if people all just learned how to work together as a whole instead of trying to be better then each other i think it would be best.  I agree this should be locked and taken to PMs.  Not everyone is going to like you or your style... Trust me I have seen all the Anti-Autofashion haters and it dont bother me.  Like i was saying in another thread "WHO CARES"  Just do what you like and thats all that matters.  As long as you doing it..i give you props... What makes a VIP car a final VIP car in your Eyes? Usually all it takes is a drop and some nice fitting wheels and stance in which I have. You don't need a kit to have a VIP car. I see lots of cars in mags that dont have kits and have trophys next to them. Look at Doms car..Wheels and some coilovers and his ish looks way VIP.
 
The way you always post is like you are all ready done with your car and coming from a finished VIP product. What do you have?? Some club linea wheels and a mild drop????? I mean really you are all about being all about the platform and Car but you do nothing to your car in the past well since I can remember. So where is this coming from????

Some of you guys dont understand that arguments will happen no matter what. This thread has not gotten out of hand yet why close it. IT is better to have ONE thread to debate in than many threads to debate and go off topic in?

Don't worry man, what I was trying to say, is that it's not a full out car. Not like the cars we look at day in and day out from the oh so tight Japan you know what I mean?

And yes, I have rims (which i want to sell so i can pick up those bersalgio's in the vendor section) and now a SLAMMED setup on Tein Flex. I don't have a full done up vip car either. I also don't post up pictures of my car because it's nothing to look at right now. 

Everybody's car is a work in progress. But the rest of us will never see it if this thread goes to another pissing match between people. 

I'm not trying to start fights. I'm just saying we all have our own cars, and none of them are done up the way we really want them. 

BlackonBlack, has potential though. A LOT more potential than some of the other noobs here that talk, he's actually walking his talk. When he's done, I'm almost positive, like firelizard, he'll be 'accepted'  into the 'vip club'...as in a nice car done the 'right' way.

But if we can see where we are coming from we can then begin to see where we are going. PMs are good however lots goes on in pms that can change ones outlook on another member and the rest of us are fooled by fake posts..I would rather see people for who they are and see if they are able to change what folks perceive about them. That's what makes us adults and able to mature and grow. PMs are for hiding what you don't want the public to see. If you don't have any problems with anyone than there is nothing to worry about or say however if you do I think its awesome and shows character if you can say what you would say in front of the people..its going to happen either way..like I said it is either in 1 thread or many..

I understand what your saying but still does this make anyone a better man because one person can say its all good but since they are behind a screen they dont give a shit about you or anyone else.  This is just words on the internet and till the day they can actually meet you in person and see for themselves how you are then they will judge u till that day. a couple things here: first of all i am yet to see you admit you are wrong in any of the debates i've witnessed. you always seem to think that your way is the truth and anything else is stupid, then you get mad and leave it alone or turn it into a big issue and tey to play the good guy. secondly, only wrong people have to admit they are wrong and repent. the guy who was right the whole time is still right.
 
you seem to be stuck on the fact that i do understand and share your views. you however do not even respect mine. somewhere you got it in your head that being on vsc means you have to build a vip car. i get my information from several different sources, this is just one of them. now i also happen to really love vip (whether i drive a vip car or not) so i am a frequent visitor to this site.

definitely the stupidest thing you have said thus far (although you did slide a nugget of wisdom in there), but i can see where you have problems understanding things that don't apply directly to you.
 
you are putting on a good show, but the real are going to recognize the real. you say that you you want a civil discussion, but all you are doing is justifying you disrespecting me. i, on the other hand, addressed the core issues. you're whole argument is based on what you think i want to be or how i expect to be recieved. the ONLY issue has ever been simple respect.

Most people on this forum are here to build a VIP car. IF your not then I really don't see the point of just hanging out. Your views have changed because you realized that you are not hearing what you want to hear and you car will never be a VIP car..it probably look sweet when your done if you say and do what you have said. But it will still just be a nice maxima maybe even show quality VIP NO.
 
I don't think your car has to be a VIP car to get respect but when you are on a VIP car forum and think about this.. You are wanting the respect from VIP car enthusiasts..why do you think drifters and small sporty cars and what not get no respect here on VSC....because they are not of the right caliber..IF you came on here saying I know I do not have a vip car however I would like to make it the cleanest maxima I can and implement some of the VIP style tuning things would be much different. What from I can remember you wanted a VIP maxima and when folks said no you said why not yes it can..You are not understand that a VIP car is a VIP car..Why is respect SO important to you with your maxima..if that's the case just use a Lexus or and Infiniti where you know no questions ask on that..
 
My point about being here longer was that things were much different as I explained. IT WAS about platform period. Now its more about styling. SO I have a very very different out look on what is and isn't VIP. 
 
I can respect the build of a project car but I have not seen  any updated build pics of your project..whats there to respect? Ok you got a maxima in the shop..cool

Like I said you are very good at name calling and I think its because you have self esteem issues within yourself and your project..You are trying so very hard to get your point across with your VIP maxima that you are to caught up in it to understand anything anyone else will say about it.
 
I have never claimed my car to be THE VIP car as the foundations of what a VIP should be..DO I think my car looks smooth,,yes Do I think that I have achieved VIP status yes do I sometimes come of like an ass about it YES..No big deal I can say that I am not embarrassed to speak the truth.
 
and your post was directed towards me up until then you had never mentioned a VS kit..you turned  around and said you will buy a 97 Q45 buy a VS kit and some sportmaxx wheels..IF you think that was not directed straight at me your as blind as you claim I am.
