what kind of car do you have?

what kind of car do you have?
Are you willing to do bodywork to get wider wheels to fit? If not, I would consider a different wheel. Your not going to have any lip so you might as well look into some high quality wheels that dont have a lip.

Hey what's up? Well the biggest you can go isn't necessarily 8.5. I actually know someone who ran 10's in the rear on his 2nd gen tl, but it was also on air / rolled fenders / camber / stretch / etc. Depends on what you're willing to do to make the wheels fit. I know the 2nd gen's call for a high offset, but I mean if you're willing to work with a more aggressive fitment you can definitely pull it off. What suspension are you going with by the way? I think other members will agree that all the parts play a role to make a certain fitment "fit" in the end. Good luck with the project...

You could def fit 9's but prob not any wider than that without being on air. If i was you i would stick with 19's, they fit the TL perfectly.

It also depends on what kind of wheels you're looking for. Some wheels look bigger than other. But I think that 19s is the way to go when you have a 4-dr car.

Somehow I doubt that the biggest you can go is 8.5
The biggest I can go is 8.5
Just a hunch, but based on the size of a TL, I reckon you can do a 9 to 9.5 with some massaging.

Really 9-9.5 i know i would have to do some major fender work which i dont mind at all but that would be like euro style if not fender work... I mind as well do staggered with that width of the wheels which i like cause of the lipage:biggthumpup: ..

I have 19" Waffe's on my Jag..they make me happy in pants! If you're looking for dish, Waffe is not the way to go..with your offsets you'll be hard pressed for much at all (like WidebodyQ mentioned). Waffe is slightly concave faced. Even with my +6 on a 10J I have far less dish than you'd imagine, but I like the compromise of the concave full face with "some" dish (about 3.75" in the rear). I could have more dish with a different style spoke design, but that's not what I was going for. Pic for comparison:

Airsus and wheel width has no relation... If you can fit a 9J with air, you can fit a 9J with coilovers, IMHO.

I am sure you could run wider than 8.5", size isnt really the key, offset is. On my stock body RX7 I have 17x11"s tucking. The fenders are rolled, but the offset is so perfect you can literally stick a credit card between the control arm and thats it.
