warning: pirelli p-zero stretch

ok guys, i don't know if anyone has tried stretching the p-zeros but here is my experience.

Specs:

car: 03 Lexus GS300

Lowenhart LD-1
front wheels:  20x9 +25 offset
rear  wheels:  20x10 +23 offset 

front tires: 225/35/20 Nitto NT555
rear tires: 245/35/20 Pirelli P-zero

My brother bought me some Pirelli tires as a Christmas gift.  I definately wouldn't spend that kind of money for a stretched setup but since I got them for free, I figured I would try them out.  The P-zeros seemed to stretch ok, but in the past two months, I've had 2 blowouts on each of the rear wheels.  The first time, I thought the kids in the area might have deflated the tire so I had the tire shop remount the tire (my valve cap was missing).  This time, it was the other rear wheel that I had a blow out while driving locally.  I never had this problem with the Nitto 245/35/20 on the same 10 inch wide wheels before.  All these blowouts is giving me too much stress.  I ordered 255/35/20 NT555 to replace them tomorrow.  Since the manufacturer deems 255 okay for 10 wide, I figured better safe then sorry...  

Anyone else have this kind of experience with P-zeros?

I've been running a stretched P-Zero Rossos for a while in both 18" and 19" and I can say they do suck ass when it comes to stretching. My next tires I'm gonna try will be either Toyo T1-R or Proxes 4. Here are the sizes I was running

18x10.5 235/40/18
18x12 275/35/18

19x10 235/35/19
19x12 275/30/19 (barely can hold the bead , with slow 3day leak)

they do suck because they dont stretch because of the rim protector in the side wall.  I never had a blow on them though although that was on a 12j similar to EilteAutoStyle specs on 19, but it didn't leak for me.  Just dont get a non italian made one (Pirelli or the cheaper Maragoni's etc) that have the rim protector in the side wall if you want a little stretch.

Update:

Confirmed: P-zero was the cause of my blow outs.

Tried Nitto NT555 255/35/20.. No leaks/blow-outs.

Decided that I wanted a more stretched look and changed them out for 
Nitto NT555 245/35/20.  Also no leaks/blow-outs.

18x10J rim. . 225/40-18  Used for street AND drifting. .No problems whatsoever. . I actually thought these were the most reliable tires i've rolled on. . I've tried Sp9000/Contisport/Bridgestone 040 etc..  The P-Zero's lasted the longest and took the most abuse. . They smoke really nicely too.

yup, Pirelli's do SUCK for stretch! I was attending the Good Guys event this weekend (won a trophy btw lol) on the way there, the dam tire seperated from the inside!! I was going about 110mph on the 580 and it popped and  I did a 360!! Thank god, no one got hurt! (and I still attended the trophy give away in the *winners circle* on a dam spare wtf lol..) Remember these are brand new Pirelli p zero nero's 295/25r22's on a 22x11.5" rear with only 400+ miles on them. Now im still on the fence on which tires i'll be trying next..

Pirelli does suck for stretching you need to run a full size for these tires to be worth their weight. Like I recommended before these should be the brands you should try out.

Dunlop > Toyo > Bridgestone > Federal > Kumho

Many Japanese Companies I talk to swear by stretched Dunlops and if you don't believe me just look at a few specs of cars in the Japanese magazines.

Pirelli tires are badass tires for cars and motorcycles I have always had good experiences using them, stretched them 18x10.5 on a 235/40 and I will still push these tires to customers
