Helper springs/poppin' collars

I need to get lower, but my coilovers will be collar-on-collar soon, so I was thinking, I could remove a collar to gain drop, but then I wouldn't have any pre-load (because I can't raise the bottom bracket anymore, the strut case digs into the axle boot).
This doesn't seem safe to me, would a helper spring be a happy medium? This way if I'm reading correctly, the spring won't be flopping around when the damper extends, it'll stay squeezed between the bottom collar and the top right?

If that's the case, who would sell helper springs on their own?

yes a helper spring is going to keep your regular spring from being loose when the damper extends

i don't think that'd be much of a big concern though... i mean how often do you plan to be flying over bumps and having your suspension decompress that much? o_o it would help to keep the spring seated when jacking up your car though i guess

compressed helper spring will be thicker than the collar, the car will end up higher.  dunno how safe droop is on the front of the car but on the rear i run 2" of droop, doesn't make crazy noises on bumps or anything.  the spring seats again with no problem when i jack it up and lower it back down.  with the helpers it wasn't low enough even with the collar bottomed out and no lock collar (single height coils) so i took the helpers out, car is maybe 1" lower.

Man, my springs are about 3" from being captive. Not a problem unless i am jacking up the car, then i just gotta take care when lowering it again
