Custom car insurance?

Was wondering if any of the insurance companies out there give custom car insurance, or at least a nice aftermarket policy. A lot of these guys out here spend insane money on thier cars, isnt it wise to at least look after that investment. ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN. Like lets say I want to do a Fortune RX-7. I would have to spend around 20k for just the kit/bodywork/paint. Would any policy out there cover the cost of my car and all the extra money im putting into it?

yeah, almost all companies have policies that will cover mods...it just costs more.

you may want to look into a "Stated Value" policy. The price is outrageous but so is the coverage if anything were to happen.

You'll want to document EVERYTHING you add to the car with pictures, magazine articles and pictures of trophies won if you are insuring a show car....they will ask.

you also get limited in the amount of miles you can drive th car per year.

Ive used this type of coverage on a couple cars.

you have to ask your company, most will do it.

I use allstate stated value on my sc400...I can buy a new sc430 outright if sumthing happens to it. But its pretty expensive for ins. I moved the policy over from a mint 21k miles E31 that I sold. Havent really figured out the total cost because I insure 6 cars R'now...more than a freaking new car payment.

you can also try http://www.grundy.com/ theyre supposed to have unlimited miles and a few other cool features not offered by most companies.

Well I work for Progressive. the most we cover is up to 5k in added parts.. stated amount like drft girl said will not guarantee you get that amount. the payout is either acv or stated amount whichever is less. what you need it a stated value or agreed value policy. you have to check with companys like grundy hagerty etc. there is a company out there that covers any year car but like all specialty co. you need to provide proof of your regular used car ins. and in most cases documentation of all the work. They want to make sure the vehicle will not be a DD and only insured for shows and once in a while driving. usually with a mileage cap. Sorry for the horrible grammer im at work and on break which is running out.

I do have a daily driver and wont be driving my trailer queen very much, other than some nice weekends and local car meets/shows. I just want to be sure that if anything happens to her, I know I am covered. Ive already called my insurance company Liberty Mutual and they said the same as TrboANTsi, they only cover up to 5k in accessories. I'm gonna check with Grundy/Hagerty, they seem to be the best option.
