Whats up, my name is Josh Helfrich and I drive...

Well... I "drove" a 98 Ford ZX2 but wrecked it in March and its been sitting torn apart but I got a 93 240sx hatch for $500 and am going to get that on the road 1st for a daily. I'm currently driving my fathers 96 Geo Tracker (fun fun... SLOW POS).
 
 
I graduate WyoTech this coming December 21st and turn 20 December 31st... I've taken Trim/Upholstery, Collision/Refinishing, ASM "Business/Accounting", and now Chassis Fabrication / High Performance engines. I'd have to say that between all the classes, I've liked Trim/Upholstery and Chassis Fab / engine work the most. I plan on doing fabrication work at home after I graduate, mainly starting with cages and some basic suspension components like strut bars and tie bars and once I'm more confident, start doing full chassis fab work and go from there with turbo setups (intake and exhaust manifolds, and all plumbing work).

WyoTech, good place to learn...congrats on the coming graduation.  Why not look for a nice LS400 or G50Q?  They can be had for cheap and are great platforms for VIP.  Anyhow..welcome!

I'm just getting into the "VIP crowd" and haven't done too much research but understand that it is basically clean, nothing "overdone" and mainly sedans with the exception of some coupes.
 
 
My budget is limited on my 240sx for now. Its basically getting a roll bar, some light interior work (for now), engine / trans serviced, engine bay painted the future exterior color, and rims. Exterior work has already been figured out and sides / front / rear bumpers will be made from a dense foam and fiberglassed over and then foam removed. The overall kit will be sleek and similar to the Supermade kit and s15 front but with some other modifications varying it enough that I cant get in trouble for copyright stuff.
 
I'm going to be dropping around $12,000 into my ZX2 over next year incorporating a frame into the unibody structure after removing the "rails" (sheet metal) that there is now and then designing an Independent Rear Suspension using a center housing and spindles from another vehicle (the rest custom), making a custom front suspension setup, and importing a Turbo inline6 4.0l engine from Australia. (The Ford XR6 turbo (Ford Falcon) engine).
 
 
The ZX2 will be mainly used to build my portfolio showing my skills and dedication to this.
