Darn....
does he like understeer? It looks like a big difference in widths.
Waste of wheels? I wonder if they have a pair from the front, that would be cool.
I dont think its a waste of wheels. The car is nice, tracked out and wide ass wheels, plus its driven like it should, so why not?
uh no, that nga DK...lol...
i bet he could only pick up the 2 pairs. haha thats why he rollin like that... that would be a waste to use those rear as drift wheels tho
i bet he could only pick up the 2 pairs. haha thats why he rollin like that... that would be a waste to use those rear as drift wheels tho
2 pairs = 4 :pat: you must mean 1 pair?
well 2 different pairs.
no he has a full set, the car looks nice. professionally bozo-style rear fender flares... something most of the forum won't try.
Some wheels are built for tracking and others should be used to roll on. Just MHO, why spend money for those wheels when you could probably buy better fitting wheels and more of them. Just seems like a waste to me. Never was a fan of ridiculous fender flaring. Just cut and get over fenders.
holy crap that is some kinda pull! haha
Looks pretty damn hot to me, IMHO. Those boso rear fenders are sweet.

How many stock body 240s you see roll with wheels that wide? Not many right? And when it comes to track cars, i dont think better fitting wheels because it looks better will help, people mod 240s crazy to have them fit wide wheels for track and its just a thing for 240 owners. And he got the money, so why not? His car and he pulled it off and i respect that.
I have seen crazy wide wheels on 240's. But for a track car I just think the style of wheel doesn't suit. But that's just me. It's a flashy wheel for an otherwise non flashy car. I preferably could care less about wide wheels on a track car as long as the wheels perform.
well it's a good thing it's not your car then ;) Joe's car is truly a fine piece of work plus he's not scared to actually drive it
He spent some money.
eh, people wanna look good doin 'whatever'. I personally wouldve done over-fenders vs. a pull/fender flares like that....but its not my car.

i guess not only VIP cars roll or drift sick wheels, i know the guy that owns the car, he has a full set of Viena in black and another pair in silver for the rear:shrug:

The car looks hot and when you get more power you need more tire so instead of putting a 275 35 on a 9 inch wide wheel and get all that nice sidewall flex get a bigger wheel.
It's for good looks and nothing else. no advantage performance wize for upsizing rims that much. Theres nothing wrong with that. it is what it is...dont try to make it into sumthing its not. I run 9.5 all he way around now with wide front and rear panels. Will it hurt performance? yeah, a little...but it looks good and that makes up for it a lil bit

This has nothing to do with how wide his wheels are. Nowhere did I say anything about how wide his wheels are. Way to come on here and fly off the handle for no reason. Or maybe you couldn't derive that much from my comments.:slap: It's a waste to have such nice wheels on car that will just tear them up. I love AZ240 :smiley-rofl: So defensive, it's cute.

I wasnt talking about you Damicci :) Was refering to the people who just chimed in with almost 0 post count to add a comment....that was wrong.
Ah ok, I still want to make it clear I never said anything about performance but everybody seems to be jumping to that topic. But the attempted return fire at the lip of my wheels, although completely unrelated, was cute.

And yes. az240 is gay, but so is drifting. Also the car in the OP is sick...draws more looks and talk than any of the shop cars when it's out at events.

I am just saying that wide wheels that look good are pretty much vip wheels. So unless you want to go get some gay ass sport max wheels you are limited to what you can get. Plus he got them used for super cheap.. you can find those all day long for a 1000.00 to 1200. So for that price you could get two sets of sport max wheels but your still gay for having them. So why do you feel its a waste ? why can't you look good while drifting? he has allot of work into that car and wants it to look nice so why not put a nice wheel on?
FWIW you can find 17x9 17x10 Volk GT-P's for about a grand or so also even 5zigen but b/c everyone says "OMG Joo got Ricer Zigen wheels fanboy" people are scared to buy them. So b/c everyone says SportMax wheels are gay you don't buy them? that in itself is pretty retarded. If the wheels perform who cares who makes them. If they do thier job. More wheels more tires the better. That's my only point. Any way let's move on please. I done with this thread.

I have allot of friends that have the fno1rc and sport max wheels because that is what they can afford and they are way way better than stock but if you have the couple extra dollars then get some hot wheels. I have no hard feelings and hope the same in return.
i guess you guys might not take into account, maybe he just got a slammin deal on the wheels?
Yokotas13;113024 wrote:i guess you guys might not take into account, maybe he just got a slammin deal on the wheels?
i guess you guys might not take into account, maybe he just got a slammin deal on the wheels?
Most likely. I dont see anyone on here trying to fit wide wheels any more. Anything 11' wide in the low offsets will go unsold these days
He may have gotten a good deal on wheels, but if I did I wouldn't use them for drift. That wheel's style of face is just out of the norm in my opinion for drifting. I'm all for getting wide wheels when you have the power, but yea, its like those wheels are more for looks, and not for performance, I feel mostly due to weight. Like Damicci said, there's just other style wheels I would rock for drifting, but its only our opinions. Those wheels wouldn't make me drift any better.
but benji if you could get these for 600...or XXX wheels that "looked" like they were for drifting, but 300 more...what would you get? I know that id get these, pull hte fuck out of my fenders, and laugh as guys like you argue over if he should be using the wheel because its not "styled" right this isnt vip he is doing, its drifting, where you get the most wheels, for hte best price, that look the best. i think they look dope as hail. maybe not hte right style, but who cares. they are being used for something other than hardparking, which is cool in my book
I'm just happy he isnt going around saying "check out my vip 240!" I dont see anything wrong with it btw; a bit like the guy on here with the Work Meisters on his LS430. Alot of performance guys might say "oh what a waste of a performance wheel", but it looks good so who cares?
i think it looks sick. its his car, his wheels. why should it really matter. not only that, life is short. live it up. Charley
Yokotas13;113033 wrote:but benjiHmm, I probably would get whatever is lighter but the same width. What are "drift" wheels? Damicci, not attacking you, but as soon as you said that, my brain went "Doh!" First thing that came to mind was that old video of the S13 convertible with the dish style wheels doing a drift expo. On a personal tangent, I am a fan of 'luxury' oriented wheels being drifted on. Granted, that S13 isn't very classy, but it has a neat look (or would, with all 4). Another thing is that grassroots drifting has an overall mentality of using whatever gets the job done. I can see by reading Ziptied, that being flush is a huge deal at the moment, so people are putting all sorts of deep, wide wheels, with more consideration going into the specs, than the face. Besides, we don't really know the story behind that day's wheel setup, so speculation is pretty much moot. We know he has the other two, maybe he wasn't done fitting, or didn't have tires, or wasn't used to them... who knows? There could be lots of reasons for the peculiar setup.

is that MAE wheels on back ??
shame with all the good wheels sometimes they sell in pairs. u drifters stuffed the other pairs darn you... lol
i dont think it's that big of a deal if he had dish wheels or some other kind. they're a good size on that car and they fit good. at the rate this conversation is going. u're gonna start ragging on FWD cars with staggered cuz i can see you saying that's a waste of rims too.. who cares what kinda rims he has on a s13.. he has multiple rims, so obviously it don't matter to the guy..
Well at least he's making the most out of them... Better than hanging them up on a wall...
