ATTN: Watermelon lovers

Summer is here and I myself love watermelon but have no clue on how to pick the right one. I ask around and people tell me different things. Some say:

- flick it and if its a hollow thump sound then thats the one to buy.
- if the end of the watermelon has a REALLY small circular brown spot (the smaller of the 2 round ends)
- the greener the melon and the lines are large
- the big yellow/white area on one side of the melon means its perfect

Does anybody know?

lol....i've always been told that it's only hit-or-miss, that all the old methods are crap. Google results would be interesting...

Well here is a way to tell for sure if a watermelon is good if you can see inside (pre-cut at the market)

If you see lots of little (little little) air bubbles inside (it has a bit of a white shade to it) that means the watermelon is fresh and sweet 100%.

The really red watermelon usually means it's nasty.

And yea, the asian way is to flick or tap it and see if the sound is hollow.
