Looks really clean but it would look even better if it was slammed.

I really like it but for some reason it reminds me of a stumpy mustang or some similar muscle car from that era.

Tell your buddy to check out first gen ls400 brakes, they might be alittle big though because i believe the 90-92s came with 15' stockies, avoid 93+ as they had bigger brakes and will surely not fit.

super clean celica...... this one looks more like a mustang...i love celicas...not mine...but this ones for sale too

It does look like a mustang. Actually some people nick named it baby mustang.

Thanks for the info. I'll ask him to check 1st gen LS400 brakes. The car is literally "unstoppable" now.

I love these. My dad use to race these back in the days when he lived in Hawaii. I sorta want to rebuild one for him. But that's alot of time and money.. hopefully one day.

that wouldve been tight if he kept it and brought it back here. one of my friends pops brought back a 64 1/2 shelby mustang from hawaii. he was still in his moms stomach when they bought it, his pops just so happen to find it in a pineapple field a couple days before they got stationed in SD. this was back in the late 70's. cool shizz!!

He shouldn't have to upgrade to aftermarket brakes.. 

Restoring/Replacing his old worn out parts with good new OEM parts should work just fine in any case. Only thing I would suggest he does is find some good aftermarket pads and stick to some OEM Brembo blank replacements.. maybe some stainless lines as well. A well maintained OEM brake system will work just as good as any similar aftermarket system.

I'm a huge toyota enthusiast, and have restored and tracked a few myself including '80 and '86 corollas.

Original brakes is drum all round... Have tried MR2 disc but it can't be installed as it has no clearance to the wheel. Problem solved by getting 15mm spacer but the wheel is extruding way out of the fender. It's not an option since the car will be slammed after this.

Car is runnin on full TRD 2TG and believe me, the stock brakes can't cope with it.

AHHH, I was mistaken.. the way I read your first post led me to believe it already had a disc conversion he was looking to upgrade. It's common that Celica guys will do a disc conversion from  the 84-87 Corollas. The drum brakes have a greater friction surface and lock up easier, however they have horrible brake fade due to lack of ventilation. If I remember correctly it should almost be a direct swap.. subframe, front spindles, steering rack, porportioning valve, master cylinder and etc should all convert over with only a couple modifications. My '80 Corolla has a 2TG stroked to a 1.8 running 10psi that I track with the same disc conversion and haven't had any problems. The good thing about that swap too is the fact that there is a good amout of aftermarket support for the brakes and  a short stroke setup so he can easily find coilovers or springs to slam that celica if he decides to go that route.

Now I'm trying the Startlet GT disc break system, and Hopefully can work, since I don't wanna change to bigger wheels to keep it look original!!
I also fixing all the Suspension, arms and so on.
I'll follow up to you guys when it's done.
