CLK W208 Reviews?

Im looking into buying another coupe, and so far im hitting brick walls.

Right now, one of my main choices is the CLK class, W208 to be exact.

And i was wondering, anyone on here have personal reviews about that class or even MBs?

I was mainly looking for a Nissan since my main automotive knowledge is around Nissans, but well get into that later.

I have worked on a couple euros, landrovers and BMWs to be exact.

And i ran into alot of problems with them. Mainly electrical problems, and my brother had a brand new landrover transmission go out at only 10,000miles on the clock. Lucky, the dealer took care of it.

Now, is it true that euros are a pain in the ass when it comes to being a reliable daily driver?

The CLK im looking to get would be a 320 in the V6 engine, or if im lucky, a 430 with the V8. Both in 1998-1999 year production.

Definitely never get the first year model of any vehicle. I would get a 2000+ to be safe. European cars, like other vehicles, are reliable as long as all of the proper maintenance is done. My Merc has 95,000+ and runs like new. I make sure I stay on top of everything I need to...

2nd.

Is the maintenance self doable, or MB wants to be an asshole like landrover and makes everything unique so its hard to even do a oil change?

Regular synthetic oil changes, spark plug/wires, fuel filter, etc. Things along those lines.

I drove one for 2 months. It was a 1999 CLK430 with 150k on it, silver with a tan interior. The car had plenty of power and was a blast to drive. I would never get the 320 over it. I ended up gluing 3 buttons back into place and had to fab a new latch for the glove compartment. Interior is the only thing that really had problems and they had been like that for YEARS when it got to me. It's a hard generation to buy a car from. Alot of a 320 motors were having problems and they put better parts in a 430's. I thought it was a awesome car. I would almost get one.

look closely to rust...especially if it has a sunroof...
 
and look on all the doors...just inside the door where the outer door shell is stamped to the inside shell...the body guys where i work said that the doors stamped in the US (especailly C-Class models) has rust problems....the US outer door shells were being stamped too hard causing the outer shell to gauge the inside panel trim....
 
if you know your car is all Euro then this shouldn't be a problem...
