One Ton VIP has an email van@onetongarage.com which is the best way to get a hold of him. Also you can PM psychopat. Ask him about his springs.

Looks very good, thats what I was looking for. How does it ride? Do you drag on everything or is it a good height for a daily driver? And what size tires are those? (I have 245/40R18's and they are too thin so the ride is horrible, planning to swap up to a 45 or 50 series)

uh... time. From what I've read getting the front struts in & out is a nightmare and would like to minimize the headacheSomehow I just dont like doing unnecessary work anymore, call me kooky. :slap:

hey,
I daily driver that, and our road arent the best. I am happy with the ride quality. It does get bouncy but thats because of stock struts thats why..only bouncy when going on bumps, but in my opinion not super bouncy.. The tires I use is 245/40/18, and it rides fine for me. They are Dunlop RUnFlats so they are heavier and thicker I guess. I was actualy planning on running 235/40/18. But will see...
Oh, with regards to installation; I heard that the 94+ are harder to install the front sturts VS the 91-93.

Thats what I have heard as well, and mine is a 94. Supposedly there were access holes to the strut bolts on the early models that arent on the 94+ so I only want to do this once! Maybe someone with a 94+ can pipe in and correct me if I'm wrong. How much did cutting 2 coils drop it - did you measure before & after?
As for tires I have worn out Bridgestones that grab every irregularity in the road & they need to be swapped out asap, but they came free with the rims so the price was right for temporary use. I've decided to just cut my coils for now, install onto new gas struts & save for airride so the vehicle will be safe in the meantime. The only issue is if my wife finds anyone with a Q45 that wants to trade, she is starting to like those a lot now - wish she would have thought of that before I bought this for her (its what she wanted at the time). At last this has all the options & is in very good shape to begin with!

Dude, do it right, and don't cut the springs...just save for the coilovers or air. You can find deals for like 500 on ebay and YAJ for coilovers.

I have to do something immediately to make it safe until I can do air, the struts and tires are so bad at this point its borderline dangerous.

i think i'm gonna cut springs 2coils all around as well. i just can't afford getting coilovers or air at the moment and i really gotta kill the super wheel gap in the back. thanks for the pics Hondaboi! your egg looks really nice!

You have to do something immediately to make it safe, so you are going to cut the springs?!!? :pat:
Just get new struts and tires then. cutting the springs will only blow out the new struts within months at the most.

The struts are blown in front, bought new stockers & figured I might as well cut coils as long as they were out of the van - if I only cut 2 coils why would new struts blow in months?

because the stock springs will be all messed up once you cut the coils. Do what you please, but it'd not be wise to cut springs when you are talking about safety. Yes, the struts will blow out with cut springs, just like running low springs without a stiffer shock.
Stock struts are not designed to handle cut springs....

good to know, has anyone else with cut springs experienced this problem?

yes i've cut my springs on 1 - 1.5 coil all the way ... the ride is horrible for a mini van. but i have a crx as a track car that i drive aroud once in a while and im used to dat. but it's really bumpy for a van. and you could hear the shocks because they are blown. really i would do it rite too if i had the money. Im saving for that now... Kyb or any original manufactured shocks are not made for lowering springs or stiffer spring rate. it stress the shocks alot quicker or rite away it will damage it.
here is a picture... i didn't cut more for the rear . cuz i do take full advantage of the use of the back... people or pick ups or delieveries for parts/tires..so it gives a perfect stance..

I see wheel gap on 18's. That's not perfect stance. That's horrible. Anyways, yeah...don't do it, and judging by the pictures, cutting is totally not worth it since it doesn't even lower it enough to make it look 'right'..

got the same rims & more gap... its sad. Going with a taller profile tire for better ride so hopefully that will fill it up a bit.

instead of cutting why dont u just heat it... i mean theyre both bad... but if you just wanna go for looks, id just heat it. cutting is just too time consuming. heres mine how it looks.

Pat your van's height is perfect. I'll hit you up when I'm in town so we can hang out at speedzone with your kids.

There's nothing wrong with cutting springs, after all, a cut spring is JUST a shorter spring. Even stock springs are 'cut' from a longer coil.
I've run a whole stack of cars with cuts springs, some for over a year and never had a shock blow out.
Heating springs is much worse than cutting them, are you are tempering them and therefore making them weaker.
