Something for the new guys to think about.
Greetings everybody! If you're new to VSC here's something to think about.....
VIP, much like drifting, can only be done to a certain number of cars. The Lexus GS, LS, Infiniti M and Q, all great VIP platforms. Cars like BMW 3's and Avalons.... are not, much in the way that you couldn't make a Toyota Avalon drift car.
VIP style revolves around a select number of car platforms. Thats the way it is, theres no changing it. You can drop your I30 infiniti, Acura CL, or E39 5 series and put work wheels on it but its still not VIP, ever. A non-VIP platform car will NEVER be VIP and thats the bottom line. Even with the mods you do its probably still not even VIP styled. We aren't trying to be dicks, its the tuning style. So here's something to consider...
If you are serious about VIP, and want to build a VIP car. Consider this. Take that BMW/Toyota/ACURA, and sell/trade it in for a VIP platform.
Think that there isn't one that fits your budget?
$1,000-$4,000
1990-1996 Q45
1990-1994 LS400
$4,000-$7,000
1997-1998 Q45
1993-1997 GS300
1995-1997 LS400
$7,000-$10,000
1999-2001 Q45
1998-2000 GS300/400
1998-2000 LS400
$11,000-$20,000
2002-2003 Q45
2001-2006 LS430
2001-2005 GS300/430
2003-2004 M45
See? There's plenty of VIP platforms out there that you can afford. No one looks down or considers an older VIP car lesser in any way then the newer VIP cars. In fact some of the older cars end up being sweeter builds then the new ones!
So see you guys, theres a VIP car for any VIP budget. Cause the last thing we want around here, is a bunch of VIP "styled" BMW's and Acura's. It's dilutes the style, and this forum, and having to say "Thats not VIP" to ever other post doesn't make this a very fun place to be, and since VSC is the MOST fun place to be online, please be considerate to our tuning style. Thanks!! - Sam

Nice, but only applies in the US.
Last F50 Q45 I saw for sale here was asking $56,000

i agree with this a hundred percent. nothing beats the older models. they seem to be the true from of bippu. the new cars are nice and all but the older ones bring back a sense of nostalgia.

Although the older cars are cheap to buy, keep in mind that you are paying for maintance on a 10-18 year luxury car that was once $50k at the dealer. Parts are not as hard to find for Lexus's but parts on Q45's can take months to locate or you end up paying dealer prices. I was shocked to see that lots of parts for my friends Y33 cost as much from the dealer as they would on a F50.
I hate to see LS's and Q's go to crap because of people rather chop up the fenders then pay for an oil change.
I like this post though. Just trying not to sugar coat anything for the newbies.

yup not cheap, you can start with a 5000 dollar platform, but be ready to have aside 10,000 for the whole shabang !!! 3000-4000 for wheels and tires, 3000 to 4000 for body kit and paint, 3000-5000 for air suspension.
the platform u choose and your build should be a nice representation and reflection of you, not a representation of your budget.

No, it's VIP style cars, not "styled", as in past tense...was styled to be like something. It is style as in current and always will be.as in the nature of it....small difference in spelling, huge difference in meaning.

When I bought my Q they originally wanted me to pay 2k every 6 month
Switch to Farmers and got 119 a month for FULL Coverage :)
Excellent write up. I understand people feel that scenes change and expand but unfortunately for VIP there is no expansion. It is what it is.

I agree whole heartedly... While I sometimes appreciate the VIP "styled" cars.... most of the time it just doesn't fit their car. BMW's look fantastic with euro styling same with audis and VWs, Acura's look best with a set of sporty enkei's and a sporty lip kit.
BTW, you guys must have horrible driving records, I pay $120/mo for full coverage on my Y33 and my old pickup and my wifes engagement ring.

Here's one more thing: How much can you sell the older Toyotas and Nissans when you made it true VIP style using JDM and some local but unique, but still high quality parts?

Yeah...for those insurance rates, you guy's must have some BAD records...I pay 680 every 6 months for my 01 GS300... And it's about to go down some more with this renewal. That's full coverage too.
Back on topic, yeah, everybody, there's apples and there's oranges.
Think of vip style, as the style of tuning a vip car. Not styled after a vip car.
If you really want to do it right, it will turn out right. There are a few 'non vip' cars that have turned out great. There are also a bunch of cars that will never fit. If you wish to keep trying to vip your non vip car, then go ahead, but don't get mad when we laugh at you for it. It's like the kid who always wants to tag along, but just can't hang.
Do it right, and get the right type of car.
I'd rather see a first gen LS 400 slammed, with rims, nothing else, rather than some non vip car, like a civic, with a kit, full suspension, wheels, etc etc.

well One member was selling his 90-93 Q45 done up nicely for 7500. Anothe rLS completely done sold for like 9-10k. It's basically worth what you sell it for and what people want to pay. Unlike 240's and "drift tax" I think these are worth what they sell for.

$8-10K for a 98-00 GS?
It IS possible, but a GS in that price range would not qualify as "clean."
Not to me, anyway- no way, no how.
A few years ago I went with my brother to look at a JZS 147, '95 model.
The guy on the phone said it was "clean."
I guess that means stains and gum on the carpet with worn and filthy
leather seats, missing woodgrain veneer, and curbed wheels is better
than most cars would have looked at that age.
He said the car had never been in an accident (I asked him this directly).
When we got there, I noticed the car had new headlights, grille, fog lights,
core support, radiator, fan shroud, etc. I guess he also didn't consider his
wife "rear-ending a Ford Aerostar" an accident... Thanks for killing half of my
Saturday, Habib. Adios, jackass.
Anyway, there are probably a few "little old lady" cars out there that
you can steal. Estate Sale, anyone? =)

this is a very good post. definitely something to think about for the people who are new to the VIP culture, like me lol. although you can get a VIP platform car for under 5k, the wheels/tires alone are almost as much as the car.

usually less than a clean stock car. unfortunately it's just like any other style of modding a car. you have to find the right buyer with cash, since the bank wont loan money for more than the book value of the car.

This topic was missing exactly what widebodyq mentioned as well as what a few other people mentioned about damage/how clean the car is and insurance costs. The maintenance part is a big deal..what if you can afford the car, but then need to fix it..are you prepared to pay the costs to fix it, or will the car just end up rotting away. So be VERY careful when buying one of these older cars and be sure you know what you're getting into BEFORE you buy it. Maybe if there's an experienced member familiar with the car you want..you could ask them to help you look at it since they know the "little thing" most people would never notice or catch (if they live near you or the car of course). Or a bunch of pics of it and post it for people to see how it looks and if there's anything visible that needs attention. Just a thought. The original post by itself isn't really sticky worthy...but with all the added input it is..in case people were wondering our decision.

$8-10K for a 98-00 GS?
It IS possible, but a GS in that price range would not qualify as "clean."
Not to me, anyway- no way, no how.
Actually, a not that long ago the city i live in, Rochester, NY (about an hour or so from buffalo and I think 2-4 or 5 hours from toronto) i seen a clean 99%(except for the 110,000 miles) perfect '98 black gs400 for $6000 or $6500
Also, 1st gen ls and q45 usually run less than $3000 around here.

1stgendown i agree if customizing our cars was as cheap as a civic I dont think we could call it VIP it would kinda kill the image. so i dont mind paying more for the parts we mod ours nicer rides with and I think it justifies paying more for the parts. this kinda goes along with the whole limited cars that can be truely VIP style. and if you don't have the right car you just can't fit in, thanks for tryin

Just trying not to sugar coat anything for the newbies.
its true what he says, its not easy on an older car, parts can sometimes be scarce on some models. For example, I drive at the moment a 94 Y32 infiniti J30. At this moment, Im pinned to the wall on money just because of the rebuild (previous owner, which was my cousin, just trashed that car up) and allot of the parts on that car had to come from Nissan. Im restoring (not modifying) the car for my pops since I prefer for something more roomier which on my list is the Y32 q45. before you go and just randomly buy the car, do your research and look very closely at the car to see if it suits your liking. Also, when you are getting ready to buy one, check everything ESPECIALLY the suspension and drivetrain. The last thing you want is to have a car that may look sick but cant drive well as the rest. Once I get that J30 running right, im off to find a q45 since it has way less issues than that car. hopefully in time I can find one in a good price range and is in good shape for doing the mods.

by the way, if its an older bippu, like the y32 q45, it will be very rewarding to see it completly set up to your liking. Even though you might spend allot on maintainance in the begining, at the end, its a very rewarding experience.

Seriously. The JDM scene is pretty rough, But the VIP has to be 10x harder to cough up the dough for. The Car is expensive, insurance is gonna be higher, and the body kits, wheels are probably gonna cost more than my current Honda Civic. Once I sell it, I gotta start saving and looking for a base.

Ok so ive been lurking around this site for awhile cus im obsessed with VIP cars and VIP style cars and thought i should introduce myself and i have some questions. First my name is Adrian i live in Dallas and i drive a 2001 bmw 325i not only am i obsessed with VIP im also a Bmw fanatic but im young and cant afford a more baller car lol. so anyhow first im curious why you would say a bmw cant be VIP? this confuses me because a BMW is born VIP no mods needed like mercedes they are what they are most of the cars u listed are cars that you turn into VIP style cars. That being said i just want to make sure this is the right place for me i dont plan on getting rid of my car anytime soon because i love BMWs but i do plan on some major mods and doing them right (ie. airbags 20s with a fat lip i mean u know the style im going for). Basically im here to talk with and meet people that are into cars the same way i am but arent going to flame me because i dont roll in a lexus. Even tho ill be honest ive given switching over alot of thought i just think keepin a european car done right in the mix with yall is pretty cool.

I guess some have never heard of paragraphs.
I bunch of words stuck together made me not want to read.
Try introducing yourself on the general board, and post pics of your ride.
And there's absolutely nothing wrong with bimmers. They're great cars, and mod it to your taste.

I may be new, I may not drive what you consider to be a vip car. But I know the history of the style, the importance of the style. And it seems to me that most of you are forgetting the reasons why this style formed.
The style evolved from a turner class, and I dont see why it cant continue to evolve and maybe include some tuner type of cars. Or any other car. All though I do agree with keeping it Japanese. What some here consider to be the only true VIP cars might just be the traditional. Every style can change and include whatever classification it wants. It all just depends on the people who dare to be different.

bmw's and mercedes are not born vip, and i'm not tring to flame but the 325 is almost the smallest slowest bmw you could buy. i am curently living in germany and bmw and mercedes here is like ford, and chevy are in the states. 75% of them are under 3 liter motors. alot are diesel wagons. most dont have leather. there are almost no automatics. sure there are nice models that are more vip but those are like the 6, and 7 series bmw's and the big benz's. the style here in germany is alot like vip but alot different.
do your thing but just know that your 325 cant be vip as we know it. if it were a 540 it could be balla but not vip as we know it. i would go with a more race style with your car. its to small to be even autoluxury.
i hope you dont take this as me being an ahole i like bmw but like said befor its not vip. but if you want it to look like it then do it. its your car.

i may be wrong but i belive this style is about class, wheel fitment, rollin as low to the ground as possible, fat body kits, chrome trims and nik naks. i dont think its about being different. i believe its about looking good and pushing the extreme drop, rims, and kits.
it will evolve but if it is kept true it will mean more to those who care for it. and it wont get watered down. or all f-ed up like the whole jdm bs.
IF WE KEEP IT TRUE IT WONT BE THE NEXT JDM.

hm i see where you guys are coming from with this hard line stuff. i live in perth (Western Australia) and there's only a handful of true VIP cars here which are imported from Japan, then been modified locally effectively diluting them (e.g. had flush fitment with nice metal flares, then built the guards out with glass another 25mm so the wheels are sunken even though theyre 13" wide with neg offsets!)
im looking into getting a GS300 and going reasonabley VIP, but not the whole hog (e.g. no bags, 20s) im just giong coilovers, and very flush 19s, plus lights and grille and so on. But i come from an S13 silvia background so im a bit into the drifting scene, but what you say about there can be no other VIP cars but the core models i suppose i see your point but at the same time i think its a bit strange.
You say an Avalon cant be 'drift', well that isnt because its an Avalon and its too 'uncool' to drift, its because it is FWD so it is mechanically unable! if it were RWD, no doubt someone would put a 1jz or 2jz (or ls1) in one and drift the bugger! i find it annoying looking from australia to the US drift scene with all these monaros and mustangs and stuff drifting, i think it is diluting the tradition and the style and what cars 'should' be drift cars, but by that token i cant say 'theyre not drift cars' because they arent the original cars that once were the hero cars of drifting.
and as for newer cars not really being so VIP, i think it would hurt the VIP scene to be of that opinion. this is because the drift/high performance import scene, the number of Hi Po turbo cheap to modify RWD cars are dwindling with no real new models meeting the criteria, which are many in order to be a good affordable drift car. but with VIP, they dont really need to meet much of a criteria to lend themselves to the style as long as they a big luxurious sedans. So i think encouragement should be given to newer VIP cars in that regard so as to keep it going as a style.
i think the (unfortunate?) truth of it is that the style, or a diluted more 'daily friendly' version of it, is probably on the up worldwide due to stricter laws on performance cars, less performance oriented cars coming out, and the fact that VIP doesnt necessarily have as much police hassle.
^this is just my 2c from an aussie perspective though, and to get the ball rolling with my VSC posting :P sorry to perhaps rock the boat straight up, just throwing some opinions out there :D

Also, 1st gen ls and q45 usually run less than $3000 around here.
I always thought the used car market in the US was cheaper that the UK.
My 98 GS300 was the equivilant of $5800, and its very clean with 115k miles on the clock.
My insurance is $700 for an entire year!.

The analogy to drifting is kind of off the 240sx/silvia may be the core cars but in the us the mustangs, and viper are the ones that dominate. bubba drift proves that the only thing that is need to drift is a rwd vehicle something like light that can make a bunch of hp. a couple of drift teams even want to build trucks. yeah you can find vip platforms for about every car budget. but the vip shit aint cheap. I want to build a vip car on a platform like a 2nd gen GS300 or first m45 but i decided to hold off and start my subwoofer enclosure buisness first so i can actually afford to mod the car.
I got a question about opinions. I want to start with a traditional platform but i don't want to do traditional mods. like i want to use Vossen vv078 wheels vs. the traditonal monoblock style wheels i want static drop vs. air since i want to drive the car aggressive and have no desire to sit super low. and i want to do a murdered out look if i get a black car.
would that be vip

Vip has tradition that no one can change. It's roots where being built long before any of us could even get a car. There will always be the original platforms which stay true to the tradition, but as more VIP styled cars begin to appear, it let's the die hard VIP'ers know there making an impact and being noticed and there love and hard work isn't going un-noticed. It's refreshing to see attempts on other platforms, keeping the scene fresh.

No it wouldn't...but it doesn't mean it can't be a nice car. The platform alone does not make a car vip, nor does a few styling cues.
And as for the drift analogy..you're also off as well (but only slightly). Yes, you're on a vip forum, but remember many of us are on other forums (ZipTied for instance) and have other hobbies. The Hell-Camino was very unstable (too much power for poor handling and light rear end) and as he proved, also loved cement barricades. Trucks will garner the same results unless driven correctly. Yes, I've seen Ute's and converted cars with "truck style beds" drift, but the drivers were not your average joe. Now take many of the "regular" chassis, they are quite easy to learn in and very affordable. Yes, most people end up thinking that you HAVE to have these cars (which is not true), but it makes things far easier for them to start in...
BUT...this is a vip forum, so the do the drifty talk ends here.
And Joe$....Drop the silly talk of including BWM and Benz in the same category when referring to vip. S-Class is far more prevalent in vip then you must know...or you'd never say such nonsense (no offense btw, so please don't be offended). E-Class's even get more play than any BMW's. But the point is that vip is VERY HEAVILY influenced by Euro cars..especially Mercedes. And many of the current trends follow these lines. There are a few trends that have arrived which in my opinion are not concurrent with the style and have been adopted from the very place I cringe...DUB. The Japanese love western culture (no not cowboys and rodeos) and always seem to pull things from it. This same thing goes for cars..which is kind of ironic honestly. Something you may find gay now will be adopted by them and then you see it in a mag and go COOL! When you just 6 months prior tilted your nose to it. I see it happen all throughout the year, every year.
I think the moral of this story is..know the difference, know what you want...but don't confuse something for what it's not. Any of us can build a nice car..but we can't build a car EVERYONE will like completely. Just make sure YOU like it. (but if it's not vip, then it's not vip..end of story)

This topic helps a lot with the understanding of VIP. As far as the repairs before modding, I know all about that owning a 90 Talon. I can't wait to get myself a nice GS400 and see what I can do!

Man, those prices are pretty tight... But over here in Malaysia, a 1990 LS400 costs around $18500. Thats in US dollars! Its pretty insane how they jack the prices up over. Guess cause the car is pretty scarce here. But still!!! haha!

I agree that there are only certain cars that can be true "VIP" cars
a scion xB with 17x9" wheels, stretched rubber and bagged = VIP-styled
a Lexus LS460 with 19" dished wheels, stretched rubber and bagged = VIP Style.
But i have seen some badass vip-styled 240's and other non-generic cars. And I agree totally that you cannot even try to have a vip-styled honda civic, or acura TL
But don't leave acura out of the list totally...don't forget about the KA7 and KA9 legends. Those are also VIP platforms. (even though the legend didn't compete with the v8, rwd LS400s and such)

I've seen 9 vip styled xBs in my town alone; I've seen one bagged acura TL with agressive wheels on acura-legend.com, and it looked like butt. I just said xB because it's more commonly done using vip style, where-as the acura TL is a sportier car, and not necessarily a "big-body" by any means.

Then what is mine? Here's a pic of my (currently more EXE than VIP) UA3 since you either didn't look at my avatar closely, or like most people, you didn't know what kind of car it was. That surprises me because you have a KA9 ~MC.

Parked next to Oyabun.
Only visible changes since that show would be tint and unfortunately, different headlights.

No I knew it was a TL, especially judging from the offense taken from my last comment. That style TL, i'll admit, that I did forget about...looks almost the exact same as the ka9 RL. But I was referring to the newer, more sporty styles, so I stand corrected. Generally, the RL has always been more luxury, and the TL, more sporty. I didn't mean anything offensive, just opinions; I wasn't trying to start an argument. With a little more of a drop, or maybe just some other wheels, I think your car would be sick.
BTW, what wheels are on the car in that picture? Looks like S2000 wheels.

I'd love to build a jzs161 or a ucf20 drift car, I just cant justify spending 40 grand on a 'vip' car to smash to bits. I like the looks of vip cars. I hate the lack of performance vip cars have. So I spose when I would be finished with the car there wouldnt be much vip left. Too bad =)

Lack of performance, not specifically lack of power. 400whp moves a car that weighs 2600lbs, not 4000lbs. Most 4000lb stock cars also wont turn worth shit, nevertheless stop in a hurry multiple times. I'd rather drive something that has a vip flavor on the exterior and performs, than a full on vip car that bumbles along in all of its awesomeness. One day I may have a comfortable, easy to drive car, but im not lazy and or broken yet.

Everyone seems to have forgetten about this body style, and think I have an RL.:pat:
They are S2000 rears because the fronts are too narrow and I don't get traction worth a shit with them. Even with 225 Potenza S-03s I have traction issues. I'm lowered as much as care for ATM because I want suspension travel, and I already scrape quite often. Besides, compared to .Ken on A-L, I'm slammed to the floor. The fact that these rims are light as hell helps with the performance side since I'm not ready to go air sus just yet.

ah, I couldn't agree more. Makes me miss my SRT4....if physics could be avoided, I'd have my RL go, stop, and turn like that thing did.
oh and go90go, car would look sickkkk on air. So s2000 rears all the way around? I've never heard of that before, clever.

^ You can! All you'd have to do is remove everything that makes it worth owning, haha. No interior and cut out metal. Not worth it, IMO, although a friend with a KA7 is driving around like that.
Unfortunately I have another set of rears sitting at a friends house, waiting to go on my rear. I have the fronts on the rear so it's a reverse stagger setup, but only because that even compared to the wider rears, these tires I have grip better. Bridgestone FTW.
~Cheers~

Something I wanted to add....
The platform thing, whether people like it or not, is not up for debate. This is how it goes...
A woman, can create a baby inside of her.
A man, cannot.
You can put a baby inside a man, or give him boobies, or cut off his johnson, but it does not make him a woman.
So, trying to force a non platform as traditional VIP, is like putting a baby up a guys ass and calling him a woman. At the end of the day all you have is a stillborn butt baby.
Hope that helps.
Please understand, i'm not trying to be a dick, just saying it like it is. We get alot of guys in here from tuning styles that are much more open and accepting to different cars and mods. VIP revolves around:
Stance
Fitment
Platform
VIP STLYE leans to the Fitment/Stance aspect with styling cues from the traditional platforms.
If butt baby doesn't do it for you then think of it this way:
You can't drift a FWD car, drifting a FWD car is called powersliding.
The people that build FWD drift cars and call themselves drifters is similar to the people who emulate VIP style on their acura's/toyota's/ect.
At the end of the day it's about whatever makes your happy. Every single mod you do should be because you like it not because of what someone else said is cool. It's what YOU think is cool, your car is an expression of YOU. If you live a VIP lifestlye, then build a VIP car, if you appreciate the style and want to add some cue's to your acura/avalon/ect.. by all means do it. If you want help PM me and i'll help you however I can. But please be aware and understand how the tuning styles work and the rules associated with them. You don't want to be the guy showing up to a basketball game ready to play wearing iceskates.

you are totally correct but then again since this forum has a clear line from noobs and members, the old school cats or knowledgeable cats try to keep the VIP scene what it is and the newer cats bring newer vehicles, platforms and styles.
both are good and respectable but when it comes down to it. you do you. either you stick with the true flavors of VIP or you incorporate your own vip style to your vehicle.
both in my book on this forum or not...are ok with me. =)

this is an excellent write up & thread in itself. thanks for the information. good to know that whenever it is that my car is "done", i'll refer to it as vip-styled.

Thanks!! - Sam
wow, i guess i have no excuses. i was wanting to bag my ride, but it will never b vip :break:. i actually was always looking at the ls4's but thought that my 5 cyl TL would b more maintenance friendly than an older 400. i might as well put some bright orange wheels on my car and a big ol retarded aluminum two-stage wing on it and use it as a stunt car. thats cool. i betcha i come back with a GS or an LS.

I like that many other cars want to look like VIP cars (imitation is the highest form of flattery) but at the same time it does dilute the style when you see a Honda civic done VIP style....

So I guess my Is could never reach the VIP car title but anyways that's the car Im building in VIP style. =) I would love to build some Q45 or Gs300/400 but they cost some serious cash here in Finland. You could only figure it out when I say my Lexus Is200 cost me over 20k! That Is is just the best I can get here - it's sad but still the truth.

i think its great, and very important for those true to the scene to do what they can to keep the traditional aspect alive (style, platform choice, etc), unfortunately the truth is that the scene will most likely end up a commercial, watered down, *****d out, replica of what it used to be, and is supposed to be. it happened with jdm, with drift, and sad to say it will probably happen with vip. that's what happens when you mix wanna bes with money, with american marketing.
i know im being a hypocrate here, since i myself am not building a traditional car (es250), but that's because of the fact that i dont want to have a car that everyone else has. though it will never be a true vip car, but rather a vip style or vip styled car, or even just a vip inspired car, at least it will be an expression of myself and thats whats most important, at least to me.
and finally lets not forget that 1)vip is actually born from a group that has money, which many on here actually dont have, and 2) it was born from a group that didnt really follow rules to begin with anyway.

I'm new to VSC forums and just wanted to thank the OP for the write up, I fortunately bought a 97 Lexus LS400 and have always been wanting to VIP Style it but haven't been able to because I was still paying it off.. But now that I'm almost done making payments I'll be able to start working towards my vision! I hope to get a lot of great ideas from this forum and its other members, thanks!

Hello all. Been here a little while but never posted.
I've been around this scene for some years now. Grew up in Japan and always loved it. Once I started buying my own cars I got into drifting (love for that started in japan as well), so I just couldnt afford both. I'm on a sort of hiatus from drifting and want to build a clean vip style daily. I stilll live in Japan as of now (US Service Member) and I'm looking to start a build. Looking at getting a Y33 Q45 or a UCF10/20 LS400. I could get a newer car over here for the same price as the two older models I named but I want a car that I can DEFINATELY bring back to america w/ me. The rules are changing all the time and I don't want to pay a lot of my for a Japanese spec car to have to leave it here.
I'm liking the forum so far. Seems much more mature than other places I've been but given the lifestyle I suppose it's to be expected. Looking forward to the experiance and chance to learn and share as well.

Platforms are for standing on. That's my "stand". One man's interpretation is not law, but some people caught up by old hype believe it is. Could this just be my opinion? Depends who you are and what you want to think. What do I think real vip cars are?? Vip is a type of car building/style centered around big body 4 door high end luxury cars styled appropriately. Selling yourself short with a handful of cars is silly to me when other more than capable cars are available. Do I call my car a vip car? Why should I label it. How about..it's my car and my style, deal with it.

Yeah...Imma NOOB!!!
Just want to say how awesome this site is. I've loved VIP styled cars since I was a kid. My father was stationed in Japan and I always loved how different cars were there compared to the U.S. I always promised myself I would go back one day, but that day is yet to come. I have a 2001 Infiniti Q45 that I slowly want to build up. I also have a 2011 Nissan Maxima. Just lookin' for some idea of where I should start. Lookin' to improve performance and the exterior most definitely. I appreciate all input. Thanks.

Awesome way to see it, anything can be done right, but at the same time I see what people mean when they say that the Q45s and LS's are the original platforms the style was founded on.

After reading this thread I now know i choose the right car for the right reasons...
Step 1: get a high end Infiniti( 03 q45).....check
Step 2: save money and don't rush.....check
Step 3: never buy cheap crap cuz your gonna get what you pay for and that's crapy parts(got that imbeded in my head years ago)....check
I think I'm on the right path...anybody wanna add to this?

Hey what's up VSC! I recently bought a 97 q45 it runs great and is well kept and up to date mechanically. I bought it because I knew it was reliable. That being said, I wanna know what people think of a green q with tan interior? Yes, that's the color I bought, would've preffered black but sh!t happens. Does anyone know if people go vip with a green car? It is a dark green and at night it does look black. Any inputs?
Btw I am a newbie on here and have done plenty of research within the 2month period I had my q
Thanks!

Hi! Been hanging around here for about two months.
Just read this thread... just to make it clear, would you guys call a Honda Legend KA7 (yes it's a Honda, i live in Sweden) VIP style? Of course i mean if it is done right.
Just curious since some said no Acuras were VIP, but then it sounded like the KA9 was?

Does anyone know if people go vip with a green car? It is a dark green and at night it does look black. Any inputs?
Btw I am a newbie on here and have done plenty of research within the 2month period I had my q
Thanks!

If your car overall doesn't look like a bag of dicks it really doesn't matter what color it is to "Be VIP". If you have a VIP platform car and you follow the traditional VIP style then it could be red yellow black pink, who cares.
Although a primered VIP platform car or beat up neglected exterior probably wouldn't be AS accepted as a VIP car as much as say a beat up primered 240 that somone said "yea its a drift car", unfortunatly that has become somwhat acceptable/the norm to see.
The VIP style/scene is about having cars that well, reflect just that. A "VIP"/"estate"/luxury inspired condition and look to go along with the supporting mods and appearance.
At least that is what i have gathered, let one of the "OG's" or more advance members confirm or correct my notions.

First off, New to the site. Finally found a forum worth being on thanks to some friends in the Atlanta VIP/Luxury scene. But to reply to your post FAKA, I agree. I often rushed builds in the past but I think the VIP style exudes and preaches patience so it has been much easier to not get over excited and rush. But over all other things, your "Step 3" made me laugh. Dude, There is NO such thing as cheap crap in the VIP scene. I mean seriously, bar bodykits... I have yet to see any "rip off" or "copy" products that are even available on the market. I mean I may not be looking that hard because I dont want low quality products, but everything in the VIP scene is $$$ and all about "You got to pay to play!" lol

Just trying not to sugar coat anything for the newbies.

http://www.x-5.jp/ Is this VIP, US VIP, US DUB, none of the above....:yahoo_39:

Looks like another iteration of BIG X, and looks super USDM styled. Funny how Japan does USDM style better than those they are copying. lol

This is enlighting. This should be posted everywhere so people recognize the difference between VIP and stance. Stance is when you're in a crappy ass bar shitter, and VIP is when you're shitting in a nice hotel lounge. Lol
