My taste is changing, Hopefully this will workout...Oh, I'm new here too!

Hello everyone!!! First post on this lovely forum!! And if everything works out then there will def. be more!!

So with that out of the way, Here's some quick info about myself. I'm not new to cars or nothing, I come from an MR2 background (haha) I've had two of these bad boys (N/A and turbo) Turbo being my current car (daily driven!). Now I'm trying join you kind folks in the VIP scene and with your help I think I'll be OK!!:biggthumpup: 

I've browsed though this forum and I got to admit, WOW. There's people who know exactly what the hell they're doing!!!! There are some serious cleeean cars on here. Props to all of you guys.


[B]Here's what I had in mind (car and mod wise):[/B]
-2000-2002 (maybe 2004) Lincoln LS/LSE (black or white)
-Bagged
-19" monoblock style wheels
-smoothe body all round (no badges, etc.)
-front lip

I love OEM+ looks so thats what I'm shooting for.


Now here's my BIGGEST question do they make bags for this car??? I want BAGS more than anything. I've search but no one has a LS around here (maybe I didn't do a good job searching?).

My birthday is coming up in 25 days I realy like the Lincoln LS and would love to see that thing VIP'd!!! I've painted such an amazing picture in my head and want to see it come to life. Please let me know if there's anything out there for me=)

to start off the Lincoln is not a VIP platform so at most the car will be VIP styled.
i highly recommend searching on the lincoln ls sites to find out suspension options and then sticking with us (VSC) for styling and stance:biggthumpup:

I mean I know alot of you guys have been here a while an all but I'm a bit confused to why it wont fit in? Its a BIG bodied, 4 door, luxury sedan, v8 or v6 if that makes a difference...

The Lincon LS has the most potential as a VIPstyle car than any other US sedan. While not a normal VIPcar chassis, it would be a great looking car if executed correctly.

yakuzaSoarer, I have a very minimalistic style of modding. This thing would be Bagged with some NICE wheels, tint, and maybe even a subtle lip up front.

Basically, the deal breaker for me would be if they dont make bags for this car. No bags, no deal. If they make bags for them i'm going to roll with it...And if you guys dont show love at least I'll have a gangster ass car thats VIP inspired. I'll still break necks driving by!!!

Well, since you brought me up I might as well say something. (I wanted to anyhow)  

First off.  What they're saying is true, the Lincoln LS (although a nice car in its' own right) could never be a vip car.  Now, your confusion lies in cars like mine and some other European cars like the Mercedes S-Class.  These cars are on a completely different level.  They are recognized cars by Japanese tuners who produce parts for vip cars.  My car is classified by VIP Car and VIP Style magazines as Euro VIP when they are featured.  There have been several featured and the S-Class the same (but more popular than the XJ).  

Just because it's 4 doors and luxury doesn't automatically equate to vip.  There's been a few members who came here owning these cars asking the same thing you have...and the answer is still the same.  The closest car from Lincoln to me would be the Zephyr:

But even then...it's not recognized by Japanese companies who produce parts or by the enthusiasts.  Vip is highly influenced by European cars, so it comes as no surprise that some Euro cars  are accepted into the mix.  In my opinion..if you haven't bought it yes, find another car that is accepted in this style.  This is not a cheap style to produce.  Choosing a car that has parts readily available is the smarter choice...

Go with something that has more readily available parts. If you want to stick with an american car, go with the chrysler 300c. They have kits, and bag setups for this car already. AND they are produced by VIP companies, some accept it as a vip car.

Caoboy, sorry the 300c is out of the question. I really dont like them at all. But thanks for a suggestion :)

elpresidente, any chance you can post some pics of your Jag. I really like it. Haha maybe i'll steal some of your fire and get a black XJR? maybe?

On a serious note though, hows the reliability on those? especially 1998's with higher miles like 80K plus? I've looked at them last year but the supercharger drew me away...I could always get an XJ8 and do all motor.

Well, it all depends on the years and models.  There were some very good years and some questionable ones.  All the XJ8's were basically Ford motors.  The later model XJR's were merely a supercharged cobra motor.  The parts are not cheap..I'll be the first to tell you that.  Don't do a Jag unless you're ready to fork out the dough.  The reason I said to get a car with more readily available parts is because the cars like mine have so few available...which means they cost more.  So if you're not ready to do a lot of custom mods..then steer clear.  If you think you're up to the challenge, then have at it.  I have no problem with people buying XJ's.  Just don't buy one until you do plenty of research and know what you're getting into.  They aren't the kind of car where you learn as you go.  If you've worked on them before then cool, or if you've worked on other high end luxury Euro's then cool.  Just a heads up.  If I were you I'd get an LS or a Q45.  Something with plentiful parts.

^ thats exactly why I steered clear last time I was looking at them and same reason I'm going to now too.

So now I have some thinking to do, choices to make! So, i'll do some research and atleast come up with a list of choices and see what ya'll think.

Ok, a few more questions if i may...I looked at the link you provided for more pics and found the ProHopper kits. Are these kits very hard to install? I'm not trying to go outrageously low. Really not looking forward to cutting notches and all. Im ok with rolling fenders though. I'd like the car low enough to have the wheels tucked and angled (slightly)...is this too much to ask???!?!?!?!!!! :)

If just trying to achieve the look , Air is an option . or Hydros. 

Or get coilovers , but you want the look .. only some OG members drive like this ... 

Its Not cheap but a way to achieve the VIP look

I think the Lincoln LS is a great platform to work with.  You can probably find a company to do custom air suspension for you.

You will still go low without any cutting. My car was not cut, and you can see I still went low! As far as installation of the kits, I wouldn't get hydraulics if you're not willing to be able to fix them yourself. Research about them on [url]www.layitlow.com[/url]

Just painting a car black, putting wheels on it, and dumping it does not make it a vip car or even vip style at that.  Lets not forget the reason you came to this forum in the first place.   I'm not saying it won't come out looking hot, but will it be vip?  No.  Do you just want a nice Lincoln LS?  Or do you want a vip car?  If you want to do a vip inspired Lincoln LS, then fine, jsut be sure to never claim it to be a vip car since it's not.

I think that's the biggest concern I have with this influx of people trying to "vip" their current car rather than trying to get a car that actually fits the bill.  I'm not trying to  come of as a prick, but we have to maintain respect for the style and it's origins.  I won't let the US (or any other country for that matter) make a mockery out of this like what usually happens when they get a hold of things.  I hope you guys do understand that...

I agree with elpres...Only certain cars are considerd "VIP" If you are dead set on American I understand. But why not an W124 Mercedes S-Class...sometimes I really wish I went that route...

This message is very obvious and clear, and I got that.  All I am saying is that the Lincoln LS is a good car for tuning to look nice.  I didn't tell him that it was a vip platform or anything of that matter, I think you misunderstood me.  But yeah, as long as he doesn't claim that his car is bippu, then I don't see any problem for him being on here to learn and get ideas.  I am mainly on here to educate myself on this style and figure out the stance I want for my car.  But yeah, onto the other point you made, the US has always been butchering Asian ideas...which is getting kinda annoying.  For example, Chinese food (PF Chang, Pei Wei, Mama Fu......wth is this crap?), Movies (The Ring, The Grudge, The Eye....plots taken straight from already made Asian movies), and of course style (bippu, jdm, etc.).  So many Honda people are doing "JDM" to the point that it's out of style now.

elpresidente; I agree and understand 100%. From what I've gathered here so far I know that if I do decide to go the Lincoln route that it will NOT be true VIP. And I wouldn't claim it as that instead "VIP inspired" and  knowing that actually bothers me a little. I haven't picked a platform to work with, I'm still trying to decide. 

I haven't really searched but are Air/Hydrolic kits that are model specific out there? Or does everything have to be custom? If that makes any sense.

All in all, which ever route I decide to go Lincoln or true platform I'd like to be able to be a part of this forum/community.

heres a lil advice. you can get a ucf10 (90-94 lexus ls400= ucf10) for less than 5k in really good shape and have a ton of parts out there for it. depends on your budget and tastes but just giving you that alternative:biggthumpup:

Hmm, I haven't checked that out yet, BUT! I'm probably not going to end up going to Lincoln route. I looked into the Q45 and it's rapidly starting to grow on me! So, im probably going to end up with that. Haha, I'm a bit indecisive but there are soo many options!

I'd love for some current owners or previous owners to give me a little info on the vehicle my main concern is reliability (although it wouldn't be used as a daily anyway, at least not after the wheels go on!!)  So if i pick up a Q45 what should I look for (like i said, im not new to cars, but for this specific model I wouldn't know its weak points)

What's destined to fail on it!!!!??? Any info that would help a possible new owner would be GREATLY appriciated!

I don't know your level of wanting to be accepted, but just do what makes you happy...

follow the rules of VIP Styling and you'll be happy with your result. Don't let the guys talk you out of your desires LOL.

You will, however, spend much more money on styling cues, and seein as how you don't have any forerunners, You'd be the originator with camber adjustment, wheel specs, interior work, exhaust and (if you want to kit it) body kits.

The only way, IMO i think this car will look good is. Get wide & deep wheels. Flare/pull your fenders. Airbag that shit & hopefully it looks good. Sorta like what the folks are doing up in Korea.

my friend has a lincoln ls the car looks nice and thats all i can say good about it. the ride is ok. not really fast. gas milage isnt that good. doesnt handle that great. doesnt have that much room. they make little to no aftermarket parts for it. resale value isnt high. but if thats what you want go for it. never let someone talk you out of what you want cause then youll be dissapointed in the long run
