Terminology question about different vip cars.

I was wondering if someone could help me understand what the different vip looks are. I read that todays kits are far to tame and moderate compared to those in the early 90's. I would appreciate pix if possible. 

What is a "vip" look?

What is a "yankee" look?

what is an "executive" look?

What is any other vip look?

EXE 
wheels- take little to no fender work to fit. You dont even need to have wheels with a lip.
Tires- dont need to be stretched much since the fitment of the wheel isnt pushing the limits
Fitment- Wheels dont need to be kissing the fender lip but they can not be too sunken either
Body kits- are real simple and clean. EXE cars usually run clean lip kits example- Wald.
Height- Doesnt have to be slammed to the ground but is still atleast 3" lower then stock.
negative Camber- not needed since the wheel fit 
 
VIP
Wheels- Low offset wide width wheels that take fender work to make them fit. Deep dish wheels are popular
Fitment- Usually kissing the fender or within 5mm from it. lately, its become accepted to tuck the rear wheels when slammed.
Tires-  stretched a noticable amount to help fit these wheels
Bodykits-  doesnt matter. You can have an EXE type kit and still have the vip look. The guys in japan all run custom kits consisting from multiple ideas from different kits.
Height- has to be slammed. The fender gap must be really low as does the space between the bumper to the floor. 
negative Camber- Usually found on these cars to help fit some wide, low offset wheels
 
 
Yankee. I'll let others chime in if they want but basicially (with all due respect)
The car has to look like it came from a cartoon. The paint is really bright. Crazy body work that makes the hoods extend way past the headlights. very tall angular body kits. Exhausts that poke way up in the air.

yankee style basically mimics, and in some cases, mocks the silhouette racer style with the deep front spoiler, huge arch or box type fender flares, and tall rear spoiler, mild/wild paint, slammed suspension with super wide wheels with crazy negative offsets, and noisy engines and exhausts. but there is also a milder form with more subtle front and rear duckbill lip spoilers, smaller arch flares, but still uses super wide wheels with crazy offsets and slammed stance. cars commonly used for this style are the toyota MX41 mark II/chaser, GX5x/6x/7x series mark II/cresta/chaser, A2 chassis celicas, A6 celica xx, MS12 crown, Z10 soarer, and from nissan - S11 and S12 gazelle/silvia, 910 bluebird, C10/C110/C210/DR30 skyline, C130 laurel, 230/330 cedric/gloria.

some of those cars actually look pretty cool..but wouldn't own or drive one...i'd probably have to put a red rag on the exhaust tip since it sticks out so much.

yankee style is disgusting.
i would be thrilled if all those cars made it to the crusher this year

Not true. There are some very nice styled Z's that way. Most of them are a bit over the top though.

 I knew the crazy bodywork came from Group 5 on these "Yankee" machines.

EXE - plain jane
VIP - the slammed,stretched,staggered, and kitted look
Yankee- Group 5 on the street. 

i was also hoping someone would define this (i love it)

Actually that last pic is of a guy who competes in "exhaust competitions"...yes, they have such a thing.  It's gone through some changes since that pic as well.

So the jacked up rear is so everybody can hear the exhaust more?

Are Yankee style considered "RICER" by most Americans? 

I find them very artistic and done right unlike, ricers who have unpainted or over-painted crap on their cars!

Well, I think the first impression for anybody in the US when they see an overly done yankee style car is that it's a "ricer".  I personally don't care too much for the style and I don't find it to be appealing at all, but I have seen some of the milder modified ones looking pretty good.  I just hate how retarded the exhaust setups look and the bright colors are just too much.

most of the true bosozoku cars run no suspension so they are rock solid
back then, the oil coolers on front of the bumper was a real big thing and most of the time, non functional.
what really set it off was the works fender to house wide wheels (usually 11-14J, negative offset), extended front, rear bumper to imitate the silhouette style like krammy-toe said.

the term yankee itself is more of the people who drive these cars. they dont live by the rules , dress differently compared to the rest and involve in big groups so they are called yankee by other japanese citizens.
you can say the term yankee to the japanese is like calling them rebels, outcast etc.

these cars today still have mixed reactions in japan
a lot of people say it has gives them lots of memories because thats how they acted back then.
while a lot still hates them because of all the negative memories they remember back then
my dad hates those cars because that was the "in" thing when he was young
