Since it's hard to find information and a lot of inferring has to be done, i figured i take some of the guess work out. Here is a list of tires that run Small True and Large based on the information posted all around this forum.

If any changes need to be made OR TIRES ADDED, post them up and we can get a real collection of tires that run small for people who have narrow width wheels, true for those who like simple stretch or have wide wheels, and big for those with super wide wheels and/or to avoid them for optimal stretch.

federal runs large

ALL pirellis run large.

the Federal 595 specifically, Yokotas? Any particular one you've had experience or know about GolfKid?

SS 595 is a little large

Falken 452 runs large
Toyo Proxy4 true
Just about all Goodyears run large too

452s run very true.  The Neros, rosas, they all run very large.  Great for performance if not trying to stretch. But all Pirellis run about a size large or a little more.

I took the 452 out until a general consensus of its sizing can be determined. from what i've seen it runs true-ish, Widebody Q says it's large, Anyone else have any experience with the 452

also guys, it'd be cool if we could stick to specific tires themselves. It would be better to have a comprehensive list of tires to chose from instead of the broad line from manufacturers.

I have run 452s on many many cars of mine and used to work for a major wheel and tire distributor.  Some of their larger sizes do run big, as widebody does run an 11 inch wheel up front... hahah.

Added new Category, NR Not recommended.


I know it's easy to tell which tire you don't recommend because of some minor issues like undesiable stretch, weird tread wear, noise, etc. I'm leaving the NR rating for tires that have had problems among the community, as a whole, under VIPstyle conditions. Blowouts, bubbles, carcass shredding, etc.

If you know some tires that you'd buy again, tell those as well.

NR wont work. There are too many variables that come to mind.
- Bad roads
- Bad driver :smiley-rofl: 
- Driving hard
- Driving a car full of people
- Tire was mounted improperly
 
All of these could lead to bubbles or blowouts.
 
 
Just because a tire doesnt work for a few members, doesnt mean that the tire is not any good. 
 
Not recomended for a big stretch, might work better but then again, no tire is recomended for stretching ;)

All those variables taken into consideration, there have been tires that seem to just be better at taking the abuse dished by 4000lbs cars riding on the edges of their sidewalls than others... at least it seems that way

Great thread.  I can confirm that ST115 and ZE512 both run small.   I have ST on my car and my gf has ZE512.  I am also pretty sure that both are discontinued.  You can still find new old stock in limited sizes.  ZE512 was replaced by the 912 and the ST115 by the FK452.

Okay update...


Falken claims that the ST115 tire is not discontinued it just is not sold world wide anymore. Only certain people are allowed to carry it now. I didn't ask which retailers though, but I will get that information and share it with you as soon as i can. It piqued my curiosity when i noticed it was still listed on their website.

I wonder why they wouldnt put them on their site. They still list ziex 512s though. I got my st115s from discount a couple months ago.

Ive tried all except 451s, st115s run the smallest. 512s only go up to 18s also but similar to st115s.

I'm probably beating a dead horse here, but I just need to confirm before I place an order... The ST115 and ZE512 are nearly equal, and it's certain that they are smaller than the NSII?  Has anyone done a side by side comparison?  Thanks

the Nexen runs small in its larger sizes, but it's not as small as the ST115 or the defunct 451.

Also, seems like the ST115 is the smallest tire available I've seen. nothing comes close to its "stretchiness" lol

Fk452s run a slightly bigger then federal 595s. FWIW my 595s started to crack/separate and bubble on the inside of the rears. I never had a problem with them before on smaller diameter wheels on a smaller car.

I now have st115 on the front and fk452 on the rear.

Man I remember I got some 285s in KDW's boy was i stunned when i got them in.lol.They were HUGE in sidewalls

On my set of wheels 

General UHP's   I have a 265/30 on a 10 and its slight stretch .. not sure how to label this..  and a 225/35 on a 8.5 about the same IMO

Nitto 555 is actually on the narrow side of true (so i put it up top-i'm going to try an arrange them in size from narrow to larger....eventually LOL!). so if you're running a 10" wide wheel, it's not a bad choice. It actually stretches out pretty well, rounded sidewall. 


Invo runs way large.

Anyone know if Nitto 555 extreme is a reliable tire to stretch? Any issues with it bubbling or popping? Im trying to run 235/35/20 on a ten inch wide wheel and only brands I pretty much found were Nitto and  Hankook Ventus V4 es H105 and I dont see the hancocks up there so I assume noone really uses them.  Wanted St115s but they dont seem to have them in 235/35/20:(

Has anyone had experience with General tire?  General UHP Exclaim in specific.

I haven't been able to get my hands on any definitive information and pictures of UHPs on wheels.

That's a hard tire to pin down for some reason.

Yeah, I have been hard pressed to see anyone using them.  I work for a local new car dealership and hace a decent connection on tires and they happen to sell the UHP's.  I will use the Kumho SPT's again if I can't find anything else but I would like to try something else.  I may just get the Generals and be the test bunny if I can't find any information on them.

I found a few pictures of the tire mounted.  Here is a 19x8 with 215/35/19  UHP Exclaim.  The seem to run true to a little small in my opinion.


The BMW guys seem to favor them due to price and durability.  They say they are a decent tire for the street but are lacking on the "performance" side.  But let's be honest, we aren't too worried about outstanding handling.

I totally understand and appreciate the effort you are putting in.  I can tell you this, they are not as large as my Kumho SPT 215 wide on an 8" wheel.  Granted mine are 18 and the picturre is of a 19.

Alright, I am going to be the test bunny for the General Exclaim UHP's.  Avantgarde, I will give you a shout when I have them mounted so you can see the fitment.  :)

Yep the UHP do run wide.  I've seen a bunch of cars in Hawaii with 19x9 and 19x10 with 215 and 225.

In our experience and knowledge:
 
Nexen N3000 runs Large and Square
 
Toyo T1R is True but very rounded. 
 
Nitto NT-555 is True
 
Falken ZE-912 is True but I believe to be more rounded than the FK-452
 
Sumi HTRZ II and III are True, and the HTRZ III actually stretch pretty well without compromising comfort while maintaining grip.
 
Bridgestone RE050A run pretty small, and are very rounded. Every Bridgestone in our experience has run very round and skinny.
 
Hankook depends. But most people will look into K110 and they run pretty true. Not bad at stretching on the K110 and H105s

Achillies run small and rounded

I just bought a set and they work perfect for all this tire stretching.  And they're not expensive.

Here's a 225/35 on a 9.5 (fronts)

I don't have any close-ups of these but this time the fronts are 10.5 and the tire size is 235/30.

Out of these two tires, I was wondering which gives a better stretch. I need a pretty extreme stretch.

First is a Nankang NS-II. Will do either a 245/30, 235/35, or 235/30 on an 11.
Second is a General Exclaim UHP and I'll do a 225/30 on an 11.

I guess first I need to figure out which gives me a better/easier stretch to come out clean and I can go from there.

Sorry that I've let this thread kind of gather dust... I've got small list of off brand tires as well as brand tires that I need to add as well as add some of the suggestions you guys have put...

Those actually are a little oversize. on the bigger side of "true" i'd classify them as big though.

I went ahead and put the sport maxx in True because in all fairness it's only moderately bigger than true.

Potenza RE-11s run large.

They are about 20mm larger than a 255/35/18 Re050A (the RE11 was a 265) The shoulder also makes them appear larger.

Which tyre give better comfort and silence? I know stretching tires will reduce the ride comfort but i want to try minimize it. 

Also I plan to run 245/30/20 on 10.5
For the front 9.5 should i go 225/35/20, 225/30/20 or 235/30/20. Which 1 has the similar stretch like the rear?

^225/30 is the best match to the rear. But comboing comfort/quietness and stretchable tires it hard. Quiet tires are never cheap tires and expensive tires are rarely stretchable.

My recommendation would be Pilot Sports or General UHPs (cheapest)

My experience with Kumho SPT and Nankang NS2.
I had both tyres in the front, 215/35 R19 on 9 wide rim. Camber around -7.
Kumho is quiter, but not much.
Ran into a problem with Kumho - got a bubble on the inner side. Took the tyre off and saw that the whole inner edge is broken (from the inside). Yes, low profile tyre, heavy engine and camber. BUT - After I went to a garage and checked Nankang tyres that were way more worn, thread are visible, and they were like new from the inside , no damage at all.
Verdict: no more Kumhos for me! Used Nankangs for 2 years now, with stretch and camber - NO PROBLEMS!

Can anyone give a first hand comparison of how Achilles Atr and Lexani LXseven tires compare to eachother please?
From what I've gathered Lexani tires are actually a Nexen rebadged and that (from other's experience) would make Lexani run large(ish/er)

Oh well, onlinetires was said Achilles are on back order and it could be a month till they get any 215/35/18s in so i pulled the trigger on Lexani LXsevens...pick em up tomorrow. Will see, but hey @ $59/each can't go wrong, LOL

Let me know how those Lexani play out. I was about to get a set of those but decided on the Nankang... Only to find out that the nankang were sold out and no date set for replenishment, so they substituted the FK452...

They're okay, but quite honestly, I REALLY liked my Venezia Crusades... They were quiet as hell brand new and kept a low profile the whole time. They wore amazingly well, but I did find out today when changing out to the 452s that the Sidewalls had "separated" in the rear... I think they became de-laminated because of the excessive heat from toe and camber. no toe correction :-/

I haven't heard much of anything on the 2.0, Silos... I'm researching but not getting much information on it.

Hankook v12's run big and squarish... Spent $350 to find that out.

Any update on the atr 2's? Got lucky and got some atr 1's at 714 tires a few weeks ago

Heres my question i was running 9.5 +12 with a 215/35/19 falken fk452 and i was fine, now i got new wheels that are 9.5 +10 and since the fk452s were discontinued i got a set of 215/35/19 falken fk453s. The problem is i now rub quite a lot...sooo any info on weather this tire runs larger? and also what tires can i get in 215/35/19 that run skinny and arent crazy expensive? I would appreciate the help as i cant drive my car as it sits :/

Where's the best place, and prices online to buy tires?  Would you guys reccomend onlinetires.com?  Prices are great, but don't know about their customer service

If you order from onlinetires, make sure you call your order in. Their online inventory doesn't always 100% match up. I've called both my orders in before noon central time, and both were shipped same day with no issues at all.

Anyone know how those newer cheap Lionhart tires run?
