1997 Q45 good buy or stay away

Went to go look at a 97 Q, 131,100 Black on Black

Wasnt in the best shape, but wasnt the worst either ...

price was $7200 but talked down to 6800...I think if I went there with $6200 cash I could take it

CEL was on and buttons were missing off of the radio, not too mention one of the washer off the hood was missing as well the interior was super dirty

It would need work ...thoughts ?

Re: 1997 Q45 good buy or stay away

Car's at a dealership? $5500 cash out the door... take it or leave it.
CEL on is quite the killer, and possibly a dealbreaker if it's being sold by a dealer

Yeah, I was thinking that... the Cel has me worried... I did a Carfax on it and it came back clean, but that doesnt mean shit.

I'm not sure if you are familar with the East coastNYC area, but this car in the Bronx. Not the best area in the world :buck2:

Bumpers are not a real issue as a bodykit will be going on. I just want a sound running car

Did a little researching on the problems and really didn't find too many 8)

Re: 1997 Q45 good buy or stay away

Jeez Johnny, thats got 130,000+ miles on the motor. This is my reccommendation: Keep looking for another Q. I would imagine that you could find one in better condition with lower miles. If you can't find one, then close the deal and grab this one up. That interior is pretty nasty though, would you re-upholster the seats if you went with this?

Johnny, ..........................you might also consider one thats alittle more clean.

I went to your neck of the woods to find mine.

you can consider a clean machine like this one. plus it's at a reputable dealer (Dallas,Though)

http://cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp?tracktype=usedcc&searchType=21&paId=193988418&pageNumber=0&numResultsPerPage=50&largeNumResultsPerPage=0&sortorder=descending&sortfield=PRICE+descending&certifiedOnly=false&recnum=0&leadExists=true&criteria=K-%7CE-%7CM-_20_%7CB-9000%7CD-_228_%7CN-N%7CR-150%7CI-1%7CP-PRICE+descending%7CQ-descending%7CZ-76039&aff=national

we can always find out whats the least they'll take :coolsmiley:

Re: 1997 Q45 good buy or stay away

If your talking to me, I won't be thinking of selling my car anytime sooner than the end of summer if I do decide to sell. The headlights and grills are different from 97-98 to 99-01. 99+ have oem hid's and body colored grills. Same thing with the tails, the 97-98's are like the one in your sig (inners and outers), and the 99+ have only the outers and just reverse lamps in the trunklid.

Like others have said wait...I paid a bit too much for mine now that I think about it. But the body is clean (except for a door ding that some a-hole left at the club) and the engine works like a clock. These cars are rare to find for some reason, but if you wait, a better one will come.

Direct swap for 99 HID's into 97-98 Q's?

Nothing against black leather, its just I've had bad experience with it, such as the hotter cabin temps and ass burns during the summer. Glad you found a nice one. Looks like it cam with an in-dash dvd player, nice!

Yes, gotta love grandpa's non-driving ass. The previous owner of my car was pretty good to mine, I didn't really have any issues. White or black, they will both look awesome with that setup.

Proud owner of a 1997 Q45 in white :smitten: 60k miles

After I saw Benji this friday, I had to have one ASAP and lucked out buying this one. Senior couple who had it since day 1 and always took great care of it. The rear seats dont even look like anyone has sat in them.

Blow design kit will be here shortly ...now just need wheels... and all those JDM goodies

Re: 1997 Q45 good buy or stay away

Congratulations Johnny!

I'm guessing you saw Nick's car and were quite taken with that Q45 body style.
Am I right? ;)

I have to admit, Nick's Q is sweet! He's done a ton with that car in a short amount of time.

If you do paint it, how about a super dark blue, green (like the JP cars) or purple... almost black?

Actually, I think it will look clean in white. White is the new black!

Picked it up today ...Stock height is  but the ride is wonderful ...the pickup is soooo different from the GS....feels like there is no torque and then all of sudden you're doing 120mph

I am very happy with my purchase..I've decided against the Blowdesign kit ..it has found a much better home :smitten:

Re: 1997 Q45 good buy or stay away

No doubt K-break are the hot-s**t when it comes to kits. Their Y32 kit is featured on 90% of the Ced/Glo's that appear in the VIP mags. Only problem is that the kits are kinda pricey! Still at least 250,000yen for the Y32 kit. Might not sound like much, but consider that the average price for a Y32 Cedric is 200,000 on Yahoo...

Do you have a hookup on the kit? Or are you buying retail?

I paid a very good price ;) around here, they go for anywhere between 6-12k depending on condition and miles

I think the newer Q's are very nice and hope to have one some day. 8) 8)
