Tried to lower the front of my car...

On the weekend I did some work to my front suspension (JIC SF-1 single-tap coilovers). I swapped the 8” springs on the front with 6” springs, and put in a 1” bumpstop to replace the 2.5” stock one. I still had about 1-2" of thread left on the coilovers at this height

But when I tried to reverse out of my garage and take some pics on the grass. I got stuck

(Never mind the shitty fence... we are replacing it soon!)

So yeah, this is what my crossmember did

Spent the next half hour clawing grass and dirt from my engine and crossmember
 
Hopefully I will get a chance to go out and slam it once I get out of my driveway, so I can take some new pics with the newly slammable front suspension :)
 
I will also be replacing the rear bumpstops later, as they are currently the limiting factor when i attempt to tuck rim

holy @ss shat.  that's crazy!  reminds of my G scraping asphalt on oahu crappy roads.  u guys must have really nice roads to be driving that low.  since our city has the 2nd worst roads in the nation, i'll stick to my air sus riding high.  hehe.

Ah, no our roads are no picnic! Not really visible in the underbody pic but my crossmember and oilsump have plenty of scratches, gauges etc from hitting the road while driving. My gf hates that i have to plan my journeys around what the roads and driveways are like, but i just love the look of a car that looks like it is slithering along the road...

My car isnt a daily driver anymore though, i catch a train to work. So right now the only thing stopping me from keeping it that low is my lawn! Oh, and my driveway, which scrapes at the old height!

Looks like you could use some wood planks, either that or level out that driveway. NIce ride though!

Thanks guys, levelling out the driveway (and concreting the grass area) is on the cards, but so is a new fence, and a new double or triple garage.

But before I do all of that, i am transferring to Japan for 6 months, so unfortunately that wont be untill next year at the earliest.

For now i will just be doing some of the cheap/free mods, to facilitate riding this low. Nextup will be to remove the fender lining, reroute the wiring harness thats there and possibly take a BFH to the inner fender

man thats so much like me....i get nervous when i go have to go a different path that i don't know how shit the road is or massive potholes.....although it is a bit easier for me in my setup =)

Yeah the front end is still the same, i quite like it actually, and its actually lower than the sides/rear... so i'm considering only getting sides and rear and calling it a day...
 
Air suspension sure looks tempting now, after Japan, i will definitely be looking into it. I want to drive it this low, but i need to be able to get in my driveway (and over the grass)
