[COLOR=white]1) [B]Familiarize yourself with the traditional VIP values;[/B] platforms, fitment (a thorough understanding of measuring and offsets is a prerequisite), stance, and general styling cues. Whether or not you choose to stick to them is up to you, but get a good feel for what this thing is all about and respect it. "You gotta know where you're from, to know where you're going".[/COLOR]

[COLOR=white]2) [B]Expand your horizons. [/B]Visit international websites (babelfish.altavista.com) and drop a few bucks on some VIP mags. Theres a lot of good information/inspiration out there that you might not see otherwise. Get outside the box.[/COLOR]

[COLOR=white]3) [B]Do your thing. [/B]Build your car for you and don't get too caught up in "VIP-this-or-that". At the very worst you'll build a non-VIP car that you'll love.[/COLOR]

[COLOR=white]4) [B]Innovate.[/B] There [I]are[/I] guidelines but nothing is set in stone so don't be scared to try something new. Who knows? That thing everybody said "don't do" might be the hot new s**t 6 months from now.[/COLOR]

[COLOR=white]VIP is no different than every other car culture in the fact that it evolves. Some people think that pumping newbies full of stale information is the only way for it to stay pure. I disagree. I feel that controlling the direction of the evolution through guidance will keep it true to its roots yet allow it to stay fresh.[/COLOR]

You know what I really like this post and you said alot of great things. The only thing I would rearange was the last part..
 
With VIP..it comes from Japan on not the US. So if they make changes and they evolve then we should evolove with them as to keep there style pure..ITs like Cokaine mayng..The pureist is the best shiat for resale once you start cutting it up you strip its purity and make it bad..sometimes keeping things pure is the best way to do things..
 
Other than that you 1,2,3 are excellent statements

Stickied.  I like it too..what Zion added should be somewhat respected, but I'm all about thinking outside the box.  So to me..either statement or a combination of those two would be good.

I totally agree with black on black98 and Zion. I am not a new member and i have never posted anything until today but I have been following vip style cars for a good while. All I ever do is look at pics study them and do research on types of kits, suspensions, and accessories available and Since i have decided to get into a luxury JDM car and try to follow the vip tradition there is no other way to do it but the true vip way...

I'm with BlackonBlack98 all the way.

We all love VIP styling, that's what brought us all to this forum. The point that we should stick to one "pure" way of styling our cars, I don't agree with.

There's just too many different tastes for that.

Great post...  Also respect the mods...  Some times you may not like someone's mod (can't please everyone), but respect the fact their putting in work..., if you know a better way or have a better hookup, show'em, tell'em...  Above all RESPECT the mods...

Hold the f**k on batman! So your saying that the jap's don't copy us? They shure as hell do! We copy them and they copy us. So who's to say that we don't affect the way they mod there cars. What if some one in japan sees a car here that didn't follow the "VIP standerds" and they tought it is f**king sweet and applys that new whatever to there ride back in japan and then it becomes popular there. It could happen, and I'm shure it has happened. So my thought on things is, f**k JDM, F**K VIP, F**K everything and everyone elses thoughts. Most importantly "You do YOU"!

Also, if your gona rock fake stuff, don't clame it to be the real deal. And remove anything on it that claims to be some thing its not. Like the Tsuna for example, I got a fake one. Got it from a member on CL for super cheep and I'm taking the JP off of it.

So, I think the moral of the story is, if your gona rock fake parts, admit its fake. I'm shure if you admit it to be fake from the getgo, you won't get shunned or flamed any where as near as much.

you see, the thing about this is, this is  VIP forum, if you want a you do you forum, take your argument somewhere else. VIP has a set of "rules / guidelines" if you dont follow the trend, guess what, you arent VIP. plain and simple. :thelaw:
