VW Ghia plexyglas roof idea
Please, thoughs, ideas for a roof, but I thought of this. There is also a car out there that has this kind of roof, but do not know the name. If anyone could help me find a pics, or specs of it, and the name of the car, that would be great.

Yes, there is a bar that runs on 2 pivot points, an actuator that is on a pivot point on the floor board that is also connected to a pivot point on the bar. The actuator pushes the bar up, causing the roof to go up as well.
Here is my other idea:

the "gullwing" styled roof setup looks somewhat weird without the doors.

Re: VW Ghia plexyglas roof idea
that would be really interesting to see however if you have it up like that when you dont want your car covered wont if interfere with the aerodynamics of the car?? i could see that cover being really unstable if your driving around with your "top" up

Your going to have issues with the seals, and wind catching inside of them when your driving, causing them to shake like crazy or lift.

Wouldn't it be easier if you had some sort of permanent support, like the Saleen style bar?

Because the plexiglas, like glass, will turn the pass compartment into a huge greenhouse, trapping heat inside and basically bake you.. tint or no

If I've got this right, the plexiglass is going to
be the top. The Ghia has no actual top right?

No, the Ghia has no roof. The roof is not going to be permentant, and I will not be driving a long distance with the roof on. The windows are going to be openable also.

Re: VW Ghia plexyglas roof idea
the gullwing benz uses gas assist shocks. i say you do a targa top like thing with glass instead. might be easier to work with.
