Gs vs M

I want either a second gen GS 300/400/430 or a first gen M45. I'm leaning towards the m due to the fact that my father already has a second gen GS300 and i like the 340 hp vk45de (not sure what 400/430 puts out) and u rarely see them modified. I was woundering what kit options are available for the first gen m45 besides junction produce, how hard and what is required for aftermarket headunit in a m45 (if i don't get one with navi) and which one is more big lip friendly, handles better ect.

I would go with the GS since there's an unlimited amount of parts for that car and the only limit is your funds...now if you want to be different then get the M i've seen a few done up pretty nicely they're nice cars so at the end of it all your gonna be the one who has to live with it so go with what makes you happy.

P.S. you should check with High society in the vendors section the guy mark has an M that's pretty sick they should be able to point you in the right direction for M parts.

i'd say go with the M cuz theres to many gs's out there with the similar style. it's too common.

of course i will say the gs. but it's whatevers your flavor. either platform is nice.

saw an M at HIN that was sick

wish i could afford second gen M cause they look super sick with the kenstyle kit. Is their other body kit options for the M besides the junction produce? I like that kit sans door caps (looks like pontiac grand am styling in my opinion) and which could have a bigger lip on the rear wheels, and what is the hp numbers for 400/ 430 and which could handle better since i am moving on from 7 gen toyota celica that handles amazing with just trd lowering springs.  Either one i would be going with a murdered out look if i can find a black car i like and i would like to do a theme with a m45 with a twm shift knob with bullets in it and modify truck door handles with bullets in it to fit it ( since it is a .45 after all)

the GS is the new civic.

Both are nice but, GET THE M! You barely see those (specially VIPstyle).

get the M, cause not many people have them and u will stand out more.

yeah i'm probally going to get a m45 but i have seen a 2002 q45 black on black with like 60k that was for $18k so a q is maybe a possibility

who imports mode farume kits in the us? i went to the blowndesign.co.jp site and saw a sick kit i like for both the m45 and q45 but prices was in yen and i have no clue on how to convert that to dollars.

i drove a m45 first gen. and yes it is pretty freakin quick for what it is.  but to me it does feel a little crampped inside and feels a bit more of a sportish car.

im toyota/lexus sided kinda guy. and i do lean towards to the M just because of how you dont see them that often, and just a joy to drive at time ;) and they do look pretty good when done RIGHT. just the fact that its slightly crampped feeling (im freakin 5'6") i guess im just used to my 89 cressida O.o

my current car is a 7th gen celica i'm used to being cramped. so they are smaller on the inside than a GS? which is faster GS430 or m45 and once again who imports the mode parafume kits? I like that kit way better than the junction produce kit (too blocky for the already blocky ass looking car which is why i also wouldn't put monoblock style wheels on a m45)

I'd have to agree with that cramped feeling. Felt worse than my accord. But to have one would be pretty dope just cuz u only see old white guys rollin stock in them n you'd be part of a select few from what it seems on here that has one. But... If n 02' 45 (f50?? Sorry im still in training) is an option, I'd pick that alllllll day especially when theyre done right. Like widebodyq has it. Yup

def would go for the M!! That was the car i orig wanted to get!! was out of my $$ range!! got the Q instead!! but if i could i would go for the M cuz you dont see alot of them!!

I would say to get the M, they are very rare and since I got mine everyone has had nothing but nice things to say about it. I always hear, what is that or oooh I wanted one of those. If you can find a good M go for it.

I think that the M would be a great choice, you cant go wrong with the new kits coming out for it.  Also new suspension parts have been coming out for awhile to help dial in your fitment.  I am of course a big nissian engine fan, you are going to love the engine in the M and will turn heads when your project is done.  Also there is something to be said for rarity, I am nowhere near done on my F50 but it turns heads because no one else works on them where i live.

What new kits? Im still looking for my body kit.

are they suspension parts to improve handling? like i said i am coming from a 7th gen celica and that thing (2500lbs) is super fun to drive when it comes to handling (had it over 2 years and still haven't grown the balls to push it to the limit.) how hard is it to put a double DIN aftermarket head unit in a M45 and do they all come with navi? does it have as big a trunk as it look like it has. i ask these questions because i'm going to put a sick ICE install (want to open my own stereo/home audio/cabinet shop one day) and jade what kit is on that m45 and where can it be purchased

Thats a Mode Parfume kit.

You really cant put a double din in the M45. The dash is set up with integrated AC, radio controlls etc. Not all come with Nav. Someone on another forum has taken thier car to a stereo shop and had them add nav and dvd to a car without by adding a standalone unit and tapping into the wires that lead to the monitor. This is what I plan to do since I dont have nav. If you plan to go crazy audio you are going to need to bypass the factory bose stuff and work on your own.

The M is going to be more in the long run. Gas should be about the same. But things like insurance will be more. Also maintenance. Aftermarket parts I can guarantee will be more due to the fact that their is not a huge demand for M45 parts, well not here in the US anyways. Parts have to be imported... etc. 
 
But if money is no issue, i would rock a Y34 over a F50 any day!

I'm also a Toyota/Lexus guy.but the M's are soo fukin gangster!In my opinion,they're the nicest cars ever made.it looks soo different from other cars.I'd love to own one.

I see a corvette everday, i'd pick a viper

i see a mustang everyday, i'd pick a nice and clean G37 or some dodge ponycar

i see a GS everyday, i'd pick an M (or Q)

simple logic for myself haha. these conditions fall easily for the Wichita residents, you dont see many ballin cars out here.

yeah, you have a good pick. Viper would just be my track day sports car. I'm not saying Q's cant get on the track cuz i seen one. Those Vk45's pack a huge punch

I saw a very clean (Y34) M45 today, it was in a parking lot at the annual Wichita River Fest

I'd go with the GS, but its a biased opinion. I'm a diehard Toyota fan.

Get the M.  Theres tooo many modified GSs around.  I use to be a lexus guy but I have a 99 Y33 now and would trade it in a heart beat for an M45.  That cars just sexy and the powers awesome.

I am also biased but love the power of the M. I have driven both and the M is definately more fun to drive and faster. I love the looks on both but think the M wins due to rariety.

but they all do come with screens for the controls right. I really don't give a fuck about playing dvd's on the screens but i would like navi expecially if i move back into the Raliegh NC area. I would probally just use a jl clean sweep. I guess that is a point for GS cause i looked at my dads and it would be simple just to put a AVIC-N3 in it. but either way i'm going to hold off buying a car and buy tools and equipment to start my subwoofer enclosure business. I thank everyone for their input

They all have a full color LCD screen. The ones with Nav have a 7 inch screen. If they did not have nav then it only has a 5.6 screen. Audio would probably simplier with the GS. I plan on having a kenwood standalone nav unit added to mine spidered into the factory screen. I will probably use the cleansweep and and an amp, and replace all of the speakers.

unfortunately since i was unable to get a job i wanted cause i had to move back to my hometown and with my financial situation it would not be wise for me to purchase either cause most of my $ would go to car note, insurance ( i got a BS passing a stopped school bus and 65 in 55mph zone tickets last year and this high ass gas. So i would be stuck in a situaton where i can't afford to actually mod the car or buy to much i want and i'll be stuck living with the 'rents. I learned from my old car ('03 celica) that you don't give a fuck how sick your car is if just about all your money has to go in it in some form or another. I decided to just find a 94-96 lt1 powered caprice and start my speaker enclosure/cabinet business then buy  a vip platformcar. I know, I know a caprice but i have a sick vision to mod one and it won't be another corny,gaudy, high-riser.  I thought about a G50 but i don't really like how super boxy the kits look for it.  I might post pics of the caprice in the other cars forum. I promise it will be a sick alternative to the normal high-riser or impala clones most people see

I'ma jump on the Bandwagon and say get the M. But I've had a GS, and let me tell you, those things are Effing AWESOME.

Changed mind once again. decided to try and find a 94-95 q45 since i won't have to worry about the chain guide issue and they got rid of the vvt in the 96 model and i like horsepower. I was looking in a old super street mag and saw the jp autodesigns kit for this car and it does look pretty good and i can get a good hook up on a paint job. is this a real kit or knock-off? the kit wasn't in a ad in superstreet but in a body kit article and they only list good shit in the articles unlike some ads. This would be more original and for how picky i am for the caprice model i want (94-96 with lt-1 engine) i would pay about the same and have to do the same amount of searching since i live in north carolina and boys snatch these up pretty quick and the state surplus is running out of these due to the popularity of caprices/impalas around here

The G is clean, but the streets are infested with them, atleast here in Albuquerque. The 1st gen M is hard and lean looking as opposed to the soft & curvey GS.

gs are as common as civics. Ferraris and lambo's are more common than M45's here. thats all i gotta say.

convert 110 to the dollar  - the dollar has not been worth shite...but you cant go wrong with the for rough figure

id say go with the M to be different but i have always been a fan of the GS
