spray on chrome...

pretty cool process...came out pretty realistic...widebodyq should enjoy this...

I think Auto Fashion sends there plastic parts to get sprayed chrome out here! Pretty sick!
I've had an idea doing this but I don't have the balls to do it yet!

I saw that kit at SEMA of '05 and i was so impressed I almost bought the system...... which I am still considering since my body has the body shop and booth I could use for this!! damn decisions decisions hahahahahaha sick nonetheless :biggthumpup:

What's the machine polish do?

if any part of the chrome is damaged, you will need to rechrome...can take pretty much anything out with machine polish

There's now a 'chrome' finish powdercoat too, nearly indistinguishable from real chrome

heard about that...should be a cleaner application than this...i would hate to spray chrome like that in my garage...imagine the mess and all the chemicals....

theres some guy with a business chrome efx 808 hes in ewa beach or somethin though. doubt anyone on maui has this equipment. i can get his number if u want. personally havent tried it yet, i was going to until i decided on not making my mirrors chrome lol.  he told me about the website he bought all his stuff from and it looked pretty legit. probably same system the youtube video uses. 


and i agree that the anodized color chrome looks sick. :biggthumpup:

Thats why most shops wont touch it. The first demonstation was done with special equipment that costs like $10g's. Thats the stuff they use to paint signs and stuff for 99.9% reflectivity.
 
 
The chrome cars that you see are not done with that machine. They are sprayed with spray guns and the process takes a real long time. The end result is like a 95-97% reflectivity which is why the cars look silver from a distance.

Not even close lol.  You will see when it gets done but that wont be this month

I hear that they are doing a powdercoating now that is in Chrome..... Not only for longevity purposes, but wouldn't it "look" better to powdercoat chrome then to spray on chrome.
 
I'm assuming most are talking about plastic pieces in this thread, which of course you would have to spray, but my question is more pertaining to if its metal.

yeah i think that is what widebody is actually getting at unless he's doing something that he can't put in an oven like body parts that cannot be removed or are too big for conventional ovens...... like a bentley black roof version in chrome!!!!!! FTW!!! :smiley-rofl:

I herd anytime you spray chrome it will turn yellow!

but that's just it this goes beyond just chrome sprying i believe it actually uses chemical reaction to create the chrome not you spray on chrome..... like rattle canning.... at least that's what the booth guy at SEMA said!!!
