VSC LOGO CONTEST

I know many of you have been waiting for this. And, I apologize for the delay. A few weeks from now on Sunday June 1, 2008 we will begin the VSC Logo Contest. The first week will be for submitting artwork. Then, there will be two weeks of voting by the community members. After these two weeks, we will choose the TOP FIVE submissions and do another voting session.

As for the fog lights, we want the runner up to feel special too so we decided to have that separate. So if we get more prize donations, I will add more onto the board.

nice. i'm definitely in for this. i'll send an e-mail tomorrow about donating some stuff as well.
 
i would suggest some guidelines such as image size, resolution, application (will it be used for tees and stickers?). i'm not sure if you guys have any ideas that you would like to see incorporated but a design brief (wants/don't wants) might be helpful. freestyle is cool too, just some ideas.

you want "VSC" logo design or full "vipstylecars" logo?

Actually, lets just keep it to .jpeg, .tiff, .bmp just so that the forum can recognize it. Specifications updated (see above). As for sizes, there is no limit. Designers please email me if you have any recommendations for size. All I know is the bigger it is the better so we can size it down if needed.

There isn't any rules for this but preferrebly vipstylecars.com. And maybe you can incorporate VSC in the logo. Basically, its open to what you think is suitable to the community.

Yes, this is why I suggest a simple design to cut sticker costs. Simple meaning one color logo but it doesn't have to be one color just as long as the logo has color make sure it would look fine in one solid color.

Thats a long time. Does it really take two weeks to make a design?

For you all doing logos....I think keeping it simple is the best way to do it. IF any of you use illusrator that would be also a key point keeping the artwork in vector format. THis way when its time to make stickers the printer could take the OG file and it would be ready for cut...
 
if making a design in color maybe having a second design black and white so the forum could use the color design and window decals could be white or silver....

Lets not rush things. Two weeks is enough time for people to sit on their designs and make sure its perfect for submission. =)

hey guys, how about a simple, modern, contemporary logo ? seriously no gangster looking bling bling logo. No cartoonish looking cars, no cliche slogans, no old english letterheads.

That's what I've pushed in the past, but too many people seem to think vip is more bling than swank.

i got 3 different style/colors done since im used to photoshop it's quick i made it nice and simple and detailed.i just need somebody to preview it but again i cant let you sneak peek it wouldn't be:giggity: fair lol.

i have a question regarding voting.
 
since the first stage is community voting how will observation of the guidelines be handled? a graphic intensive logo will obviously shine over a text logo.
 
i think a simple logo is better suited but most members will probably vote for a more elaborate design. since only we can only submit 1 design can we do variations? i.e. something with visual appeal and a stripped down version.

just submit one logo but variations should be fine on one image beeing uploaded as long as its the same logo or similar...
 
I think  they just dont want 4-5 different submitions of logos..
 
 
VIP full color logo with a bunch of crystals and textures and backgrounds..as a digital logo for web and possible colored apparel..Then the same logo right below in Black and white stripped down..Now the striped down version should be without background content or textures or crystals..just something very easy to make cost effective apparel and decals..

Don't worry about winning or loosing it will only interfere with your design process..if you do not win it does not meen your less of a designer. If you win than props to you..
 
When designing graphics words of advice are do it your style..we all have our own unique styles and unless you sit down with a client and gather tons of info they want incorporated in a logo it will be hard to guess what VSC is looking for and or members. Ultimately its up to John and what he wants...
 
This is a freestyle contest and basically when its a freestyle contest you do your best and bring out your own inner talents...so YOU get recognized as a designer.
 
Good luck man I know you want this and should you win at least it went to someone who seems to have a passion for design..
 
You all know my style and its very detailed which in lots of cases is a downfall to Folks that want simple font logos..

Keep it simple....Yeah Graphics with a lot of filters and shadows and highlights are cool but from what I am gathering people don't want a flashy Logo here they want something unique and simple..

ultimately, I'm hoping that we come together as a community to decide what logo represents us. I personally like the idea of a logo with variations like Zion said. Remember, this will be our permanent logo from here on out.  Let's have fun with it and enjoy it.

The logo on your car is for certain people only. Those who got them first consider yourself lucky. lol. The current logo looks much better on the car than on a website.
