i like the way you guys have this site setup. keeping newb retardedness to a minimal is something that is lacking in almost all other car forums. by selecting people you guys feel worthy to post in other areas, you have cut down on a huge percent of the rediculous questions and constant idiocracy. kudos to yall for not making this site into a "we need more members" forum but an acutal educational and viewing of similar likeness one. anywho, thats just my .02. btw, happy birthday to me.

Yes, being stuck in VIP101 is like having the title "Driving mom's car" Unless you know what you are talking about, you pretty much get ignored.

Yea, I can understand weeding out the ignorant. But when you are keeping out everyone right from the beginning I feel like it deters alot of people who would have something to contribute away from the site. Sure you can still read the other posts when your a noob but not being able to post hurts. I for one am on here because I have enjoyed the VIP style cars for quite awhile, I am an auto tech and am hoping to find my first VIP project soon. I scour the for sale sections on many forums to try to find my next project and on this site even if I found the car I wanted in the for sale section I wouldnt be able to post. I have been working on cars since I was little and while I was in school for auto tech I received the opportunity and the privelege to work with Enjuku Racing to build a car for SEMA, check out the May issue of Modified for a feature on it. It ended up being a hit at SEMA and took the award from HotWheels for hottest exterior and is now drifting in the Formula D events with a new graphics scheme. I feel that although I am not the most knowledgable person in the world on VIP cars I am always learning and I am also a very well rounded individual when it comes to the automotive industry.
 
I guess I would like it more if you had access to everything right away and then when you noticed someone extremely ignorant on the boards who was going around being negative because they wanted to boost their post count you send them to VIP101 until they learn the basics and realize that they dont know everything there is to know. Just my 2 cents.

You don't start out in high school, just for the teachers to throw you back in kindergarten because you don't know much yet. 
 
It's here for a reason. Stick around long enough, educate other members with questions that you know the answers to, and even though you don't think so, Admins and Mods are watching and reading what you have to say, show you are knowledgeable, you'll get out sooner than you think.

I for one am happy theres a restricted use at first because on other forums like my local drifting club i dont even get on there anymore because some of the highschool crap people pull on there and the admins dont act on it at all... so this site is a godsend to me.

Welcome.  Just stick around.  You either get it or you don't.  Registering to this site is a good first step.  You can ask any retarded question you can think of in the vip 101 section and not get flamed too bad.  Good luck

i prefer the eliteness. it means more to be a part of something you have to prove yourself worthy to, than to just be allowed to come in and think you deserve to be there.

Yea, the whole noobie section is nice unless your in it. LOL but with a limited amount of actual VIP'ers around and on the site it's good to seperate the vets from the non's.

When we talked about this, it wasn't about being elite or separating the newbies from the vets.  The main thing was to hopefully weed out our "troublemakers"...  For a long time, we would have a lot of people sign up, start a lot of drama / bashing, and create a community that had so much tension in it.  Our main goal was to allow new members to slowly "acclimate" themselves so that we can do our best to keep our community sane and as drama free as possible.  I know there is no "perfect system" but we gotta try.  Besides, in the end, we will all end up in the same spot as full fledged members.

and this is a good example of why we created this section..... some people don't get it and never will, like as if they believe somewhere in their minds that they HAVE TO be allowed in just because they are them?!?!?!?
