Luxury car too much $$$ to drive?

With the rising gas prices, who's luxury car is seeing more of the garage then the road? My S55 eats gas like no other, it seems like we've been taking my wife's corolla out more often. I'm sure a lot of you guys with a V8 can share my pain.

I'll admit the rise in gas prices has me considering weather or not I want to go to meets and/or drive longer distances. Prices are like $20 per 1/4 tank....

Even with the rising fules costs my car still stays in the garage most of the year. I may take it out only once or twice every few months. Good thing that I have a nice daily driver (sentra) that gets great gas mileage.

Drive about 50-70 miles a day to work. Tucked with 20's on my 2GS and I still average about 20-21 mpg's. The car is paid off so to me gas just takes place of a car payment, and I get to ride in a lil bit of style.... guess the no car payment makes up for higher gas prices in my head.

I'm gonna have to start paying between $5 and $6 before I consider purchasing a old civic... but if gas gets to that point, we all have bigger problems to be worried about then how we get around.

gas prices have risen yes, as much as i would like to not drive my car, i still do because it's all that i have, so it pains me to have to fill 90bucks for a full tank and pains me to have to drive like a grandpa. which is why i try to ride my bicycle as much as i can. :)

Gas prices are not my concern. My concern is conditioning the vehicle. it is estimated that G50's require about $2500 a year in maintenance alone. Now add on tire replacements and Gas prices that's alot of money to spend on a car and not have it show. Reason Why I want to get Y33. G50's have horrible MPG also.

I have been thinking about this a lot lately.

Luckily I walk to work but gas prices still hurt. It's around 5.50 per gallon here for 87.

It will be interesting to see how it affects VIP. Not everyone is a baller or has more than one car. One nice thing is that the prices of V8 platform cars is coming down. They should depreciate very quickly as things get worse.

Gas prices here in hawaii suck as well. I watch the gas guy next door change the prices (up that is) like twice a week. My daily is my g50. My other 2 projects are both V8's. It sucks ass.... but my work is like 2mins from home. I drop $20 for gas a week for my g50, but that's if I only go work and home.... since I've had my g50, I've never full tanked it so I can really get an accurate mpg. My LS was around 13mgp, and my truck was at about 10mpg... Looking at the pumps as of now, 87 unleaded is $4.31, 89 plus $4.41, 92 premiun $4.51. But does it stop me from doing nonsense driving around the malls, hitting the beach after washing my car, showing off down waikiki... hell nah..... I tell u what though, prices for big trucks, suv's, and v8 vehicles have gone down... escalade here I come..... lol

I was thinking about picking up a civic or another 240 for better mpg but I notice in Tucson it is pointless. A/C is a requirement. even on Econo the Q doesn't do the job. A/C or bust.
I am daily driving an S14 right now since the Q WAS goingt o be sold but the guy backed out so Not sure if I want to switch back. But driving a family around in a S14 is not fun!

Wow that would be original! You can be the first VIP styled Echo! lol....no. The last time I filled the Benz it was $90 bucks. If I had to do that once a week that would be a car payment. I should use that money to buy a prius and only have to fill up once a month.

To be honest, I really like the high price in gas. I do a 40 mile round trip to work and its nice to see a little less traffic on the road. I am hoping that higher the gas price = less broke ass drivers out there with no insurance driving around. just my .02

Yon know that could go both ways...more broke-ass non-insurance drivers on the road, cuz if your already w/o insurance i'm sure you got that little extra to put into the tank.

My LS is my only ride with 80+ dollar fill ups that last about 300 miles shit fucking sucks lol. I still find myself in my car most the time. My girl drives a civic, which is awesome on gas, but my car is just alot more comfotable so we roll in that most the time lol. I drive in on the weekends, usually one of my friends volunteers to pay 20 bucks for parking if I drive my car 10 mins away from home to downtown so it works out::shrug:

I really hope gas goes back down though, this is fucking horrible.:runcoold:

That happened here in SB at the long term parking lot at the airport. People were coming back from their trip with no gas in their car and come to find out that someone has drilled a hole thru the gas tank to steal gas. That sucks!

Less traffic is the best thing about the rising gas prices...... I went and picked up a little 99 civic ex... it get's 35 miles a gallon with so I'm not trippin.

All of my cars are paid off except for the new Odyssey (which I write off anyway),
so driving the GS isn't really a big deal. It helps that my office is only 5 miles from
the house...

Ironically enough, the 4-cylinder cars both have the engines out of them, leaving
only the GS, Odyssey, or NSX available on a daily basis. They all get about the
same mileage, so I use the Odyssey for long trips and everyday stuff.

Lately, I've noticed that I get no love from the ladies when driving the Odyssey
so I've been driving the GS a bit more.

AE86 (no engine/trans, but almost done), NSX, covered AW11 MR2 (no engine or trans):

It might be time to bring the 4AG powered cars back into service. The MR2 used to get
35 mpg on trips! Then I took it apart... six years ago.

My LS eats up alot of gas. Doesn't matter to me though, if she gets hungry i'll fill her up again. haha

Damn gas prices are going to make me go broke...

I've been even considering getting a VIP car now because of the rise in gas prices. I've even been considering selling my Corrado because it has an 18 gallon tank, believe it or not, and has to use premium fuel and probably only gets about 300-325 miles a tank. It costs me around $80-90 to fill it up once a week.

Hopefully if things work out by the end of the year I might be working from home, and if I do I will probably get myself a nice GS400/430 since I won't have to commute to work.

The rise of gas sucks, but I don't sweat it. I'm not married, I have no kids, and I have a pretty good job. =)

LS is in the shop :D.
hence the DD s14. might sell it though after the car is done. gotta figure out first if it would be better to keep the second car (money saved on gas would obviously go towards insurance/reg/safety) vs daily driving the LS.

i hardly see ur benz too. think i seen ur G more often...b4
