Auto Photography

Ok I am not sure if this area if for ANY Auto Photography or just VIP or VIPStyle cars? Please verify :) I do allot of photography of cars but not VIP yet. But I would sure like to if anyone in the So Cal area wants a shoot :) I jsut can't show any of my work if this area is just for VIP/VIPStyle cars :(

We have a photo gallery here on the forum, but since you are still a vip in training member, you probably aren't able to post in that forum yet. Feel free to post up some of you work here if you like!

this section is here for all members of VIP101 to be able to post any pics of their rides or their work like yours. Since you guys can't post in the regular forum we decided you guys would eventually go ape$#!t if you didn't have more to do.... enjoy and of course being in the SoCal area myself I'm definately interested in seeing your work :biggthumpup:

I use all Canon stuff. EOS 5D and xT with some of these photos. Various lenses and tricks of the trade editing.

you can put more then 10 photos on, just limited to 10 photos per post, but I am glad that you added links. Thousands of photos would take a long time! Great looking work and welcome to the forum.

Cool, I will take some time to post 10 at a time over the next week when I have time :) Maybe one car per post :) I like getting all the angles form the ext. to the interior. I would say I have about 10k in Automobile photos on my site. Those are just the ones I posted, and out of those I say maybe only a couple hundred are worth showing here.

Well they both are nice cameras, however I try to refrain from boasting camera equipment. I feel that even though diff. cameras have limits depending on  the price you pay. It's how it should be. However a trained photographer and some one with a good eye could do very well with some of the point and shoots out there as well. If you look at my Asia gallery those were all taken with a point and shoot. 

Anyway if some of you like. PM me photos of your cars VIP or VIPStyle if your in SoCal and I will do research to see what I can do for you.

Actually I should take back the self promoting sales pitch style prev. post. I just want to post some nice photos of cars and see where it goes. If people here like them enough and want me to help them out with there cars that's fine. but I don't want to be accused as a  "VIP-in-Training" of anything negative before I even get the chance to become a full member :)

Ended up about 2k with tax and being about 24miles + over the 130mile limit :rules: There Lambo had no Govinator. I was going over 150mph + :thelaw:. I wont say where though.

Thank you I appreciate it. I get ALLOT of competition in other forums and it's hard to get ahead of the game with so many people online and friends getting friends work. I am on my own and bust my ass to get seen. So why I got so upset. I did not expect that post here really.

That 350Z's rear fitment is crazy!

Good stuff you did right there. Just have to work on some off camera lighting and work on your angles. The 5D and xt are great rigs to use when you shoot. Your DOF is pretty good on point. Now if you add some lighting to give it more dramatic appearance you will have some baller pics. check out [url]http://www.strobist.blogspot.com/[/url]
they have some baller tutorials and assignments to make lighting affordable and your friend. I know you could have pulled off some hella photos with more lighting on the lambo kinda like this:

Hmmmm, well thanks for the link. Definitely seems like there is some good info there. YOur shots are ok. But could have been a bit better if the set up was better. Lighting is a thing that takes for some a lifetime of work. Some people have more technical information than others but are really missing any creative vision. For me in the future I hope to be able to have a balance of both. The Lambo shots were not anything but a car I rented actually when I was in Vegas :)

All the stuff you see that I posted is self taught. Taking photos of cars is easy work. It's allot of fun. Unless your getting paid for it the only need to be perfect or to have everything on the bulls eye lighting wise is by prerogative and budget  only. We take allot more credit than deserved with cars. We can make them look better maybe but about 85% of auto photography has already been done for us. I mean all the hundreds of hours in design work by the engineers and designers. All the $$ invested by the auto manufacturer is kind of beyond comprehension. It's a tad arrogant to assume my photos are so special with that in mind.  All we really ever need to do is have the lights, location and camera. The rest is in the editing room.

I think you have some nice clean shots keep up the good work. Only way to really learn is to continue shooting. Jashua Gull has some nice shots as well. Looks like hes got some things going for him. The shots you posted are a tad over exposed. Were are you two located?? I don't mind shooting together at some point. But I might be in college getting a degree in photography over the next couple of yours. Not much time for fun, but time to do Automobile projects for sure.

the white is TOTALLY washed out on the car. the histogram on that thing must be all over the place lol

Can I play too?  Totally an amateur and very open to opinions.  Slightly OT, but if you can appreciate great cars, you can appreciate them in other style too right. :biggthumpup:

Sorry if you guys totally hate them.

lots of nice shots there :) I will stop doing car shows pretty much in January. I just will not have the time. I am aiming at Commercial and or Fashion photography. Why I picked the college I applied to.

All the stuff I posted here is pretty old now. I am a much better photographer than even a few months ago. I learn from every shoot. 

I fist meant for this thread to promote myself but it seems impossible to maintain as everyone wants to show off there stuff here. Keep it going, what the hell. Show it off! Have fun! Just expect honest feedback from more experienced people.

Well, I didn't mean to steal any thunder.  I agree, I learn some every time I take pictures.  I really wanna do spreads for car mags, but I know I'm a way off from that right now.  I hope to get some honest feedback, that's why i put them up.
