What do yall think about...GAWLD??

Just wanted to get some opinions on some exterior mods I had in mind. What do you think about dipping lips and other chrome accessories in differant shades of gold? I know I really havent seen too much of this in the vip mags. Most ive seen is just some color matched lips or those flower print ones. lemme know what yall think

I think it's a subtle hint of color and draws attention more to the wheels, not a bad idea.

I think this actually makes the car look 10 times better. Not sure what it is but the color brings the contrast of the wheels and body color together in a perfect blend. If you did the grill that color too... well then I might have to fly to where ever you live and shake your hand.

I was about to say........ that trunk setup better provide handjobs on command.... even then, I don't think it justifies 17K... Scan it as I would love to see what justifies 17K.

On a side note: How do you insure such work? I mean in my eyes your car is worth probably close to what the original purchase price was, but that doesn't mean your insurance company thinks so. Just curious......

Well there is insurance called stated value insurance. Its mostly for exotic, replica, custom and classic cars. You basically state the value of your car and pay your insurance premium based on that value. Normally insurance deciedes what the value of your car is, with this insurance you state how much the value is. You need recepits for all aftermarket parts, and pics of the entire car. On top of that, with this insurance you cant drive the car more than like 3k miles a year. It has to remain a "showcar".

Wow, only 3K a year? I do that inside of 2 months... but for a car like yours that makes perfect sense.

Thanks for edumacating. I seriously want to see that quote if you don't mind scanning it for us. My mind is still going :runcoold:.

What else does he have left to do to the car? If it makes him happy and if he feels its going to make it that much more impressive then I will tell him to go for it since its his car.

I dont doubt the price tag on the labor. I have no clue what he wants to do in the trunk but what he described is not cheap. Labor rates vary from city to city. Anyway you put it, this would be a long long project and quality work is not cheap. Good luck cant wait to see what you come up with.

This is why I didnt post any prices on my thread, see how this took over a thread about wheel lips lol.

$17k is more than what the work is worth IMO. the work is only as good as the installer, not the shop he works for.

Ya, cant really do anything but tweak what I have now. If you wanna go lower, id look at getting new brakets. My brakets were custom made so they sit really low, making the car dump to the ground. If that doesnt help, think about getting an SS kit, should drop you at least 25-30mm more.

I didn't read the rest of the thread, I'm sorry.

Go for it, it looks sick. Root beer and gold is like cheeseburger and fries. With a milkshake.

LOL so true. Expect it to always be 1-2 weeks later.

The trick I learned is to never leave more then 25% deposit. leave too much and they will become lazy because they got paid. At the same time, if you leave too little, the will move onto the next car that comes in so they can get paid. 25% seems to be the perfect amount

I learned that with the paint job on my old car. Gave 50 percent and promised to get my car within 3 weeks. 3 weeks come and not done yet. Month later still working on it, month and a half I figure I throw in another 25 percent to persuade him and 2 months later it was done and I was unhappy with the job. Bitches.

Well, Just got back from the stereo shop. Car is still in a bunch of pieces. I took the headlinder, backseat, and all the other interior pieces to get them restitched and what not. Hopefully I will get a chance to put the car back together by the end of this month. :crossfingers:
