kiss lip or tuck rim??

i got some new wheels to fit on my gs and i don't know which way i want to go. 

what do u guys think. tuck some rim or fender kissing the lip (with the lip sticking out of the fender about 5 mm) Which do you prefer? 

i only have pictures of the lip kissing fender. if anyone has pictures of some crazy offset wheels tucked on gs. that would be great. 

your input is greatly appreciated.

flush. thats how i like it. although tucking is starting to grow a little more on me,  but i still prefering flush.

looks like kiss is winning so far. should the lip be sticking out alittle further then the fender or the outer edge of the lip should touch the fender? any pictures of what a good kiss is? i need kiss lessons.

I vote for kiss. You're going to break something trying to tuck those under stock fenders. Since it looks like you're going to have to redo your fenders anyway, have you considered radiusing them? Then you can still show off the rear wheels when you lay it out.

lol. i only noticed that after scrolling down. wald is classy, but for a lot of cars its too subtle. especially on cars that you usually see all fully kitted out often. 



wheels look sweet though! and i say kiss the fender for 2 reasons. 1 cause it looks sweet! and 2 youd need even more camber to make it tuck, and i personally dont like any more camber than what u already have. not to mention tire wear etc.

just kiss it..too much camber will look nasty..have the lip just barely sticking out of the fender..like 2mm or something..post a straight back shot of ur car..i wanna see how the it looks from behind ;) also..i dont kno if anyone else out there has ur offsets in front and rear with those sizes..even in japan..u might even be doin it crazier than them:biggthumpup:

thats a nice rolling shots. thats pretty much my full down for the fronts... i wanna drive at that height but don't think it will happen anytime soon. :(  and plus if i dont tuck.. theres no way for me to drive at that height cause the lip will smack my fender.

thought about radiusing but its way too much work. maybe next mod after i am done.

Do you plan on driving at that height?

If so you don't really have much choice but to bring the lip in so that it tucks under compression and comes out flush otherwise.

for what it's worth I think the camber is overkill now

I say keep it traditional Tsurachi in the rear, do not tuck.

If you can, try to make the lip more flush with the fender, it looks like a tiny bit too far poke.

Yours is perfect imo. Although tucking makes it more obvious youre bagged Im aiming for a 12 inch wide wheel with low offsets and yours is exactly how id like mine to sit. GG:biggthumpup:

i always wanted to poke but then when you drive you have to be really conservative and ride pretty high.  i like to drive slammed.

i pulled the rear fender alittle more and its kissing the outer edge of the lip to fender.

doesnt look like its too safe to drive with these wheels. at drive height less then half the tire tread is touching the floor. sidewall almost touches the floor. haha. i will figure something out. i think i am just gonna kiss the lip. tucking will be too much camber. 

and my drive height doesnt go that high anymore because of all the negative camber in the rear. the fronts can still get like 3 inch of wheel gap. rears barely get 1/2 inch of wheel gap.

but the point is, if you are more than a few MM off from hitting your fender as you lower your car, your offset sucks.

So many times everyone say that offset is everything, yet 98% of you guys dont put enough time in choosing offsets and camber settings to optimize the position of the wheel.

i had less than 1 or 2mm all around clearance on my wheels when i lowered my car at any given time with no rubbing. That is fittment. 
Poking is easy, all i had to do was take outa little camber, tucking? even easier, just buy weak ass offsets

Your problem is you just make the assumption that everyone cares as much about fitment as you do. :shrug:

And you SHOULD care about fitment, says more about the car than ANYTHIGN else.

anyone can put aero on, anyone can put suspension on, anyone can put wheels on
to take the painstaking time to adjust every single wheel, in my case, shorten arms, adjust toe and traction rods, as well as camber, says volumes about talent and passion. Something that is missing these days.

I can put sunken ass wheels like you have and drop my shit on the ground.
But can YOU put wheels that FIT and drop your shit like i could? doubt it.

Ive had people tell me my shits broken and its gonna hit my fender at stoplights. that is true fitment. I can look at your car, an alot of cars on here and know for a fact it wont hit, or will decimate their fender like some of the poking i have seen.  Poking is cool for shows, but not practical.

Real fitment, that is at ride height, without any rubbing. that was my clearances.

i don't think tucking is even an option on this setup so flush is the winner by default.

on the "tucking is gay" tip; it's a matter of preference. i am feeling tuck more and more especially when it's like this:

say what you want but it takes just as much precision to kiss the inside of the fender as the lip. adjustable vs. static suspension also has a lot to do with. if you're on air you can set for flush at ride height and be ugly tucked at full low. coilovers i say set it precision tucked and drive low.

*edit - and to the op again, i say the edge of both lips should be flush. my favorite flush look is when the fender bends seamlessly into the wheel. camber, pull, and fitment like so:

LOL. I love how people on this forum preach what true VIP is, yet I'll look at my VIPCAR mags, and somehow they don't care as much on specificities. I think some on here make it their duty to define the "true" meaning of VIP, when they don't realize how broad of a category it truly is.

fitment is however the universal characteristic of VIP. cannot deny that.

All the vip cars that i take notice of, have fantastic fitment.  alot of them are still stock body.  Good fitment will make or break a car

i understand what you're saying grant, but i'm off the air train and on the coilover bandwagon so i'm looking at it from a different perspective.

most people who tuck intentionally tuck whatever offset. then there's the tuck from a flush ride height setting dumped; but the camber puts the wheel at a harsh angle to the fender. what i'm talking about is a clean tuck where the wheel is very close to the inside of  the fender, not only at the lip but all the way up, via camber matching the slope of the 1/4 panels. this will only work on static drops because if you were to raise the car the wheel would push out on the fender.

NOONE makes any flares, fenders or anything for a BG legacy, so i have to make my own. Gonna completely fabricate with just a set of s13 bubble flares

Money does not make you anymore vip than the next guy. Yea you might be able to buy a few more JP products but when it comes down to it, its the hard work and research and picking the right parts to pull off a specific look that count.. Not who pours the most money into their ride.
 
With where your cambers at Kiss the fenders for ride height.

grab a name brand body kit
garson.junction produce/kbreak/ltide interior
wheels that fit
air sus or coils

and you have a VIP car...shit not rocket science

Yet your car is designed like they are there. Take your stock overfenders, and push them out more. 
 
If anything (I know I know BBK fitment blah blah) you have a bad front setup. See if you can get new outter lips for those fronts, and you'll have a WAY better looking front.

Agim (widebody_Q) had a picture of his car on his 'winter' 18's...the fronts were just fuggin perfect IIRC....dumped either as low as he goes or drives, and it's all one piece, fender, wheel....it's car porno status.

Tucked wheels with a stretched tire and a fender pull dont really go hand in hand in my opinion. I love the shot of your car with the ridiculously low offset and camber. If its functional, then do it. Either way the car will still look great.

i know exactly what your talking about grant. i want that poke/rub look but able to tuck.  but in order to achieve this:

you have to have extreme camber so the wheel will tuck inwards more as it tucks.
for my next set of wheels im going to experiment more with my camber settings on the rear and get way more flush up front

right now my rear right has about 1mm fender clearance but my rear left has closer to 3mm.  so my camber settings arent the same.

lowered where rear fender kissing lip 10.5 degree
