Damn, i didnt know most of you guys are strapped. Hahaha
I've been looking at guns lately, i'd like to get a Colt 1911.
Speaking of guns, last night. I heard two gun shots go off. On the news it said off duty cop shot some guy trying to rob the 7-11 down the street.

shiet, I just carry.... I heard that if you get your CHL and you actually have to use your firearm on someone, then it makes it easier for the DA to charge you with things since "you're suppose to know all the rules". Lets say you dont have your CHL and you use your firearm, its easier to get away with "I didnt know"...lol

airmax;194724 wrote:how hard is it to get a concealed carry in cali?

It's a decision made by the county Sheriff, and the way it's worded, you have to have a reason to CC, like you are law enforcement, or retired law enforcement, or you carry insane amounts of money (transferring cash) and need to be armed, without a 'reason' the Sheriff can deny you, even if you feel like you can't walk outside your home without carrying a gun.

Other states, like good old Texas, you are on a shall issue, meaning, if you apply for it, and aren't crazy, or a felon, you will be granted an LTC/LCCW.

Thing is, this is an infringement on the 2nd amendment, and everybody should be able to CC without permit.

You can legally OC a gun, on your strong side, and (in Ca) have it unloaded, with your mags in holsters on your weak side, without any permits, and they can't detain you for it. It takes people less than 1.5 seconds (with training/practice) to go from being unloaded/holstered, to being ready to fire.

It's illegal to be closed carrying without a permit though, yet you can openly show you have a gun on you, with an empty mag in the gun, so it 'looks' loaded, and it's not illegal.

I think the only places you can't OC, is within 1000ft of a school, or government building in Ca.

There's www.opencarry.org with all the rules per state, and it's also a forum, with a bunch of stories about people getting harassed by cops for doing it, and getting their cases dropped in court because of the 2nd Amendment.

Even if I had a LCCW, I'd still OC that motha just to show people I'm packin.

All this info, and I still need to get a gun lol.

That's a good question, and probably depends on if you reside here, or are just visiting. I have no clue though.

I know OC laws very state to state, and you gotta check up on them before you go out with a gun. Like some states allow you to OC with a loaded gun, and others like Ca, have to be unloaded.

i don't think any permit is allowed here in Kalifornia. You can take some Utah CCW permit classes here and that would let you CC in alot of state including nevada and I believe florida. I actually applied for my CCW here in OC a few days ago. With Carona as sheriff it wasn't as hard to get as is now with SHEriff Hutchens. I think from my 95% chance has shrunk down to maybe 25% or less with the new policy.

You can all read about it at forums such as www.calccw.com

Why would I have to register them? They are all california compliant "rifles" and NOT so called "assault weapons".

all my friends thought i was smoking crack when I told them that AR15 variant rifles can still be bought. They thought I had to buy the permanetly welded shut mag well ARs like the Fab-15 and top load only. A small $25 part makes the rifle completely Kalifornia compliant. Allowing the use of a pistol grip, collapsible stock and flash hider. Also as long as the overall length of the rifle is more then I believe 30"? or 32" I forget. Usually 16" barrel and collapsible stock can make it over this set min length. Also the mags can't accpet more then 10rds. They make mags that look like standard 20rd or 30rd but only hold 10rds.

With Carona as sheriff it wasn't as hard to get as is now with SHEriff Hutchens. I think from my 95% chance has shrunk down to maybe 25% or less with the new policy.

You can all read about it at forums such as www.calccw.com

i did a very small bit of research...CA CCW is allowed in TX but not the other way around

Why? Because people here carry guns? It's for ultimate protection, not muscling people. It's cheaper than body guards!

I'd rather be the one carrying a gun, than not.

There was a story on OC.org, about this wife who was walking out of the grocery stor, and got robbed at knife point. KNIFE POINT.

Now she open carries, and wonders if she always had been (her husband always did but she didn't) would she have been robbed.

Would YOU go up to somebody with a gun and tell them to give you all their money with only a knife in your hand? I didn't think so.

truth.

it's all about being able to protect yourself first and foremost. you're delusional if you think the second you need help, some officer is going to appear out of no where and save you. remember, when seconds count, the cops are only minutes away.

gun owners and people who OC/CC aren't all wannabe cowboys itching to start a gunfight, they're just responsible citizens who use their constitutional rights to protect themselves and their loved ones.

thats all i gotta say about that.

True story... I own and operate a sushi restaurant...I have sales guys coming once a week to take my orders. Yesterday he showed me a fresh stab wound. He was robbed at knife point in downtown LA. he was lucky and pushed the guy thinking he was joking and the guy thrusted it forward. he got it stapled up. It happened at a gas station while he was pumping gas. anyways this was yesterday.

No no, you are going about it the wrong way. We don't feel we NEED them, but rather, it's just for piece of mind.

Think about it this way, you don't NEED to lock the door to your house right? I mean, what's a one in a million chance someone is going to randomly walk by, checking people's doors to see if they are locked, and rob the place? BUT, you lock your door anyways right?
Same thing with carrying. You don't NEED to, but hey, what's that chance someone tries to rob you?

Plus it's always fun to pistol whip someone!

yeah I can't believe how much AR lowers are going for now. I don't see why banning supposedly "assault" style weapons does anything to reduce crime. Aren't most crimes caused by cheap guns? Why are they not banning those first? I don't see joe blow from south central going in and robbing a place with a $1000.... The ban of the 50BMG rifle is the most stupid move... who does crime with a $5 per round and $3500+ rifle? and i won't forget to mention these rifles are atleast 4ft long and heavy as shit. I doubt a homie can walk around with one of those down his pants.

Carry your gun! Be sure to know the law though, or you may end up needing a lawyer.

(For those in Ca, who can't get a LTC/CCW) Some say CalGuns is using OC as a means to ease the restrictions on getting an LTC/CCW.

I am actually following this...I was suppose to go to the board meeting a few weeks back but couldn't go....I would have had to be there all day. Anyways..it worked. The board was concerned what the new Sheriff was doing with the restrictions. The fucked up part was the NRA tried to take the credit for the hard work the people on CalCCW.com put in to getting everyone together and organized. The NRA is not looking to good to the people on the board now...people are mad. Fucked up part is they still need the NRA since they are so huge nationally.

Anyways one of the member sig says it the best for me "When seconds count the police are minutes away"

I also like, "I'd rather pick up a gun, than pick up a phone"

I don't care who takes credit for what, as long as it eases up CCW's....more places need to become like Texas...look at that state. Least gun restriction, low crime rates. Why? People are packin', and the thugs know they risk a big chance getting shot at.

That actually doesn't sound like a responsible CCW license carrier. Something like that you would usually get ur license revoked/taken from you. I'm not exactly sure how Texas issues licenses. I'm sure it's shall issue but is there any training?
