Let's seperate from those who know frm those 'who know'

ビップの意味分かる?
BMW,MB,AUDI、ビップじゃないって言うのは勘弁して。

ビップ車ってドイツの車に憧れて、カイゾウしてるやろう?

Just bringing up a point...many say VIP is lowered car, wide wheels, low profiles, tow-in, aero-kitted, dark-themed whip.

To be honest, I've followed the VIP style...its true. Many are forgettting the heart of the theme. I'm heading to Japan for a full-time job, but many have drifted away from the meaning of VIP. Including the Japanese (I'm half, so Jusding is ok).

I just want to discuss: Where is VIP heading in the US? I think the Euro-scene is holding it down the most...they have tatste, they have the wheels, and they don't attract the youner ricer crowd. I'm sorry, but lookung at the gallery of this site (the VIP centre of US), the US is not continuing the trend. Japan is failing...who's to continue?

I'm not too sure what your trying to say. "Euro scene holdin it down the most...they have taste"and" attracting the younger ricer crowd"and "US not continuing the trend" yo i'm sorry for all the quoting, but your mind is everywhere. And the title of the thread itself seems to be so arrogant (which I don't mind) however, your opening statement doesn't support it....please elaborate?

augodgg,

Sorry, I should have elaborated.
I'm really tired of reading bullshit in VIP mag, and other VIP' respectible literature.

The US has lost all sight of VIP theme.
I will admit, there are many people here that understand the style,. lifestyle and dedication.
I'm trying the weed out the fake from the real. Many are trying to grab a VIP platform and transform into a VIP fad.

Including companies. US companies are cropping up importing crap the don't know about, promoting crap products, and trying to make a buck.

I'm in finance - i understand the lifestyle of tying to fool others into dumping money. But, honesty is the truest policy.

I've seen seen 300c's done right...and plenty wrong...as a forum, you need to say when is wrong and right. I've seen a 300C with a Rolls Royce front...and comments follwing saying its nice...let's stick to our roots.

Maybe its because I feel some heritage...but the VIP scene is pure. It's the last thing Japan can claim in original...eer since Fast & the Furious took the damn SPO-CON scene.

if you search you will find topics discussing the "points" you bring up. since you are in vip 101 you will need to stick around for a bit and prove to the staff that you actually know something about this scene before you are allowed to contribute to these said topics.

I understand...a newbie coming from nowhere.
But, I'm frustrated with where the scene is heading...

From Drifting going to crap...freakin' Tatsumi getting fame.
VIP scene - JP getting credit...for something they didn't make...

What happened to the Centruries? What happend to the 10 Celsior? 14 Majesta? 13 Crown? Y31 Cima?

I don't want the VIP scene to turn into an NBA fad...
The euro scene has kept the tasteful aero in tact...tasteful wheels in tact...respect is due where respect is needed.

You will also find that posts in the intro and welcome center do not contribute toward your total post count, so separating your sentences into multiple posts will not boost your count.

I welcome you to vsc, and I invite you to support your opinions with hard data. btw the 10 celsiors are still quite alive, your talking to an owner behind this screen name.

I'm here because I wan't to contribute elsewhere.
I don't have the capital to invest in car...college is owning me. Sorry. I've been around the scene since a todler...I hate to use the 'Japan' card, but I've been to Yokosuka/Tokyo for car shows as much as anybody here...

But trust me, I'm a purist...I love VIP just as much as you do. The Korean's are even getting it together...I've seen threads here. I'm scared for the creators.

so basically you don't want to see it hit the mainstream...I don't either but it doesn't help when tire companies and wheel companies advertise their products on VIP cars....Falken is one example.

Japan is the size of California....the US is I'd say 10X bigger...if it does make it big it'll be big for sure.

Even in the honda world I've seen some really nice Hondas.

Could you give us some examples of what you think is VIP ....even some examples of the 300C and Euros.

Honestly I could care less if my car is or isn't "VIP/VIPstyled" you can have that label. At the end of the day I jus want to have a nice car that I can drive and that makes people inspired and admired, whether that be DUB, F&F, Ricer, EURO or whatever.......WHO CARES!

You think gurls look at a car and say "DAMN! that's "VIP/VIPstyled" that don't care! All they see is a nice car w/ rims.......

I respect your compassion for the scene, however nothing is truly owned and unfortunatly everythings for sale. I don't consider myself to be a victim I just acknowledge the principals exist. Like you I may not be a fan of the exploited aspects of this venue but we are not in control of it either. Dis me if you want, but imo Japan has as much to do wit the scene here being what it is as we do...

"I think the Euro-scene is holding it down the most...they have tatste, they have the wheels, and they don't attract the youner ricer crowd."

So what your saying is that most of the guys on here don't have taste? But then they also have wheels... and i'm pretty sure there's no younger rice crowd around here. But in every scene, there will be band wagoners, what can you do?

-n00b.

Well hello n00b, have fun trying to press what is and isn't vip here.

We all know what a vip car is and isn't. No need to tell us what we already know. Please quit sticking your foot in your mouth.

Pull it out already, and talk to us about what you want to do with YOUR car when you get it. Trust us, we know more than you think we do. Have fun getting out of 101 with that attitude.

I guess what everyone is saying, to condense it down, is that if you stand in a room full of pilots saying you've been down with flying from birth, and how much you love it, and what's so wrong with it, and how good you are, but you don't have a pilot's license or even any flight hours let alone a plane.... you're nothing more than a passenger with an opinion.

I can see your argument and I can acknowledge some of the key points as being true, but you can't, for one second, believe you can generalize as a whole the entire scene in the States or the world for that matter, and expect to not catch some flack.

We encourage individuality since this style has been evolving for a while now, and while some will say it's because we've lost our way, we like to think of it as a "growing up" of sorts. There are some who prefer the classic VIP of the 90's and that's fine but if someone doesn't stick to that it doesn't necessarily mean they "have no taste or have lost their way" it just means that the scene is multi-faceted and we should see the beauty in it all.

^^^that's basically what I said in far less words...haha.^^^

What Robert is saying is very accurate though. Things evolve constantly, some of us prefer to stick with the power curve (or ahead of it)..while others prefer to stick to previous eras of the style. It doesn't necessarily make them wrong for doing so, it usually means that's just what they like (but not always).

i hate to use the japan card but i'm half japanese and so f**kin old school. if i had a car i would show you guys what's up.

I hear this all the time.......and how do you stop companies from trying to make a buck? People bring this up and complain about it, but never have any answers. It's up to the consumer not to buy "crap", but lets face it, companies will do whatever it takes to stay afloat, especially these days. Agree with it or not, that's just the way it is.....they have to sell in order to stay in business. It's up to the consumers not to buy if they choose not to.

What did JP get credit for????? They were one of the first, if not the first company from Japan who specializes in VIP to bring their products to the US. They didn't "make" VIP, but they were the pioneers, to a certain extent, of VIP exposure here in the US.

How long has vip been alive in the states? 3 years? 4 would be too generous. The biggest players in VIP have yet to discover it. Mark my words on that. Its still too new to expect everyone to embrace it and do it the same way they do things in Japan. There is clearly a huge gap between US vip and Japanese vip but every year, we make leaps foward in the right direction. All you can do is lead by example and others will want to follow if your doing something right.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have returned. Finals can really take a toll on time.
Anyways, let me first acknowledge that when said thread was posted, I was venting some steam through a fine substance called 'liquor'. Twas' the result of a successful Thanksgiving.

Secondly, I do apologize for coming off as an ass. But, I do thank the kindness for a light flaming. This was well deserved, and I had a few ha-ha's reading your enlightening posts.

Lastly, my initial posts don't make sense, because they really don't. Despite a few spelling mistakes, I'm surprised I managed to form grammatically correct sentences, yet fail at building a point.

HOWEVER, I am a euro-geek at heart...had an E36 in HS (saved up through PT work from 13) and rocked a MKIII during my initial years in college, and rebuilt a rollover MKIV Golf. I want to see more euro-chassis's in this game. Rest assured, when I start FT in April and financial stability is attained, a euro-chassis will be purchased. That or 17-Maje (FT job is in Tokyo).

In conclusion, rest assured, I am no troll. I may be a tool, but certainly not here to place sand in people's cooters.

No worries. No tail between my legs, if I'm not 'accepted', so be it.
My 14-yr-old post does deserve much hate. I even questioned the garbage I wrote. However, if as a result I can't join the 'club', so be it. With actions, come consequences.

not trying to start anything, but why do you speak about all these chassis and talk about stayin true to vip roots, but yet youve only owned german hatchbacks...

sure they can be done up nice, but they are far from the main standards of a big body sedan.

How about, you get your euro chassis (probably a Jetta, or lets make it luxury, a Passat) then show us what VIP is all about, yeah? Then you can be in our cool kids club.

Wait, wait...you say that VIP wasn't in motion when you were 4?

And then you say that JP wasn't around then? But earlier you said that JP didn't do anything for VIP style....

I smell contradiction....

VIP has been around for a long time...

Somebody post up that tanetane site again, with all the pics from meets, show this n00b what VIP evolved from..that site has a whole progression from yankee cars and boso bikes, to crazy wild style, and even JP cars in there....

Dude, re-read post #59.

frankly speaking I dont care that much if the car is VIP, or those civic with widebodykit or muscle...etc

As long as I dig it I cool with it. People dont have to make a big fuss what other wanna do with there car or what they like even if he cut cardboard for his bodykit it fine as long as it doesn't harm anyone.

Uhm...I think that's just your "opinion". It's not as subjective as you make it out to be and it's most certainly NOT whatever you want it to be. That's just silly.

What groove?:smiley-rofl: ... and the only ass is the one your face. No need to call anyone an ass. Next time just say, "I disagree" and keep it moving.:slap:

...but, to stay on the topic of "VIP".... My car has been called VIP and personally, I dont see it, so its odvious that VIP is a subjective term and always will be.

You buy a car because you like it. You modify it to your personal taste. there are so many people out there modifying cars. That makes it hard to keep a certain type or style of modifying true to itself. Sooner or later its going to evolve and more and more people will start too contribute and then a whole new type of style will be born. There will always be an original but you can stop progression. The vip stlye is going to appeal to a broad spectrum of people. Just like not everyone can afford to build a 700+hp car not everyone can afford to build a true to roots vip car. Thus new platforms will be tested, new products etc. This is the way the world is, you can't smack someone's hand and say no your not aloud to like this, and as much as you want to keep VIP as private as possible it will only continue to grow.. Maybe even be in Fast n furious 5.

It's not a matter of keeping it private. It's a matter of respecting a style that is NOT ours. We did not create it and we should learn and understand how it's done..not bastardize it and make ish up as we go. Setting trends is one thing, but there's a cultural history to this style which goes pretty far back before many of you were even thinking of driving. So please..respect it for what it is and don't try to make it what it's not. :thelaw:

X2. El Presidente nailed it on the head. There is nothing left to say so with that being said, I am locking this thread. We all had our chance to state how we feel but at this point, this topic is going downhill.
