The Beginning of a Show Setup!

I know not many of you will understand what you're looking at, but this is the beginning of a Benz-worthy hydraulic setup. The plumbing is extremely unique and will definitely impress when finished!

man, where you gonna stick that whammy?

Are those Check valves or slowdowns on the dumps...

Also, the filter...how much "life" does that add? i've seen it on a few cars, but I don't know if it increases the interval between oil changes.

all in all, I can't even imagine how sick it'll look when it's all tubed up and flowing....

The whammy is going to be in front of the batteries which will not be behind a wall in the rear of the trunk.

To answer your question, there are actually both slow downs and check valves coming off of the dumps. If you look closely, the slow downs are underneath the dumps, and you can see the shutoff valve protruding from them.

The oil filters are part showy and part functional. I like to religiously change my oil every six months or so, but I figure it couldn't help to keep particulates from flowing through the system if possible. It's inevitable that the oil does get dirty, so it should help some

To ease some speculation, yes, this car does have time-traveling capabilities. :runcoold: To a time when Benzes were the true OG ride :smiley-rofl:

Looking good... No stainless and polish out everything? Have you sized your accumulators for the cylinders? Have you had a problem with it lifting up while your driving?

I like the industrial look of the steel fittings and black Parker valves, so no, no crazy bling for me.

As far as the accumulators, I have had them on the car for close to two years with no issues and the cars rides great! I have not touched the precharged settings, and have had no need to. It takes a few more taps to lift the car, but that's the only time one notices them.

Thats good to hear... I showed the owner here, He's done hydraulics for forever. He mentioned to make sure that the volume was correct otherwise it can yank fluid from the pump or lock up if the size/precharge wasn't correct.

24 volts. Still just one solenoid per pump and little risk of a runaway. Even 36 volts is not too much, but at that point you're running two solenoids per pump.

A clean 2 pump 4 dump is around $1900 for all of the essentials without hardline (including accumulators). Usually for around $3500 (ballpark more or less) installed you can have a very nicely executed hardlined setup.

Charcoal grey suede is on the way...unfortunately, no local OC shops had any on tap when the floor was built.

And you're right on the accumulators. Something for you tech junkies to think about:

By adding $120 in extra fittings to a hydraulic setup, the car can have an adjustable ride via the accumulators. By adding slowdown valves to them, one can limit the amount of oil able to easily pass through to do its job.

What does it mean for you? The ability to have a car ride dumped while still riding firm enough to not scrape, or ride Cadillac smooth at higher ride heights.

Hydraulics aren't just about lowrider hoppers anymore...it's a great (and less expensive) alternative to air.

I am posting more pics over the weekend and we are coming out soon with a 2 minute promotional video soon.

^ Thats pretty damn compact. What's the price on something like that? I think thats part of why hydraulics haven't caught on, almost everybody here knows what an air setup costs but hydraulic are a mystery.

EDIT: Another question, can you for whatever reason get lower with hydraulics then you can with air? Cause that'd be a huge selling point.

Total parts for a hydraulic setup starts at $1559 for our kit and by the time you're done with parts (including batteries) it's hovering around $2k. A bargain compared to those $4500 air kits out there. Hydraulics are used on airplanes, heavy machinery...it's not just for lowrider hoppers anymore.

Also, a hydraulic cylinder is much smaller than an airbag (1 5/8 outer diameter) therefore you can always so lower than an airbag and not worry about rubbing through it.

Your 2 major maintenance items would be 1) Charging batteries - every 2,3 weeks I plug my car in on the charger at night while I'm sleeping...that's the extent of that 2) Potential that a (low cost) cylinder seal may need replacing. OCKlasse has been riding on his for 2 years without a change, but the potential is there, yet it's not one of those "leave you stranded" things. It's about a 30 minute process.

Other than that...in comparison to bags, I'd say it's comparable and cheaper to maintain. Not sure how long compressors last, yet a pump can go years without issue.

Moral of the story is that if air isn't getting low enough for you, or you're having problems with air, or you want a different setup with more of a creative outlet show-wise hydraulics are an excellent alternative to air.

So a kit costs about 2k but what about having it installed?

Installation is about $1k. If you want the trunk hardlined for show/cosmetics purposes, that can also be done for about $300.00 extra. If you're willing to leave your vehicle in Phoenix, AZ for about 5 days-week, we could provide you a very clean, reliabile hydraulic setup.

When you compare what you get for approx $3k considering the amount of lift, drop, reliability, and ride quality...it's certainlty an ideal alternative to air.

Every part and labor will be itemized on a generated invoice.
