Re: What is the difference VIP to EVE ?

EXE is a style in japan that readily accepts a larger platform of cars. There used to be a magazine in Japan called EXEcar where you could find articles on VIPcars, as well as slammed, classy coupes. For instance, this Soarer was in EXE car:
Forum image

Its for classy rides that exhibit the VIP aura a bit. Im not sure the major difference between VIPstyle and EXE car other than the fact that EXEcars still retain and modify for a classy sportieness also.

Re: What is the difference VIP to EVE ?

Sorry, I was just leaving work and thought i'd make fun of the mistake in the title ;D

Like YakuzaSoarer said - Exe concentrates on later model expensive cars with expensive wheels, mild drop and milder wheel fitments (thats the image i get).

VIP is more extreme with bodykits, slammed and wheel fitments that make the mind boggle

Re: What is the difference VIP to EVE ?

Yes, i think you managed to sum up our ramblings quite nicely.

It depends though, viplife and onetonvip's Q45s were definitely VIP even without bodykits, based on how agressive their wheel stance and drop was. You dont NEED a bodykit, but it helps!

(i'm going without a kit first, because i want to see how low i can go!)

Re: What is the difference VIP to EXE ?

not necessarly true TL i will disagree. Your telling them exe is a budget fashion ::). :2funny: i have about 7k in mods and thats not in extreme mods on top of what the car is believe me exe style is way beyond budget its just some people prefer classyness over aggressiveness not that it isnt bad or anything.

Look at aimgain models or mode parfume line now tell me that is cheap its exe.

vip=aggressive,extreme,streched and wide
exe=similar but a tame verison classy (notttt cheap!)

Re: What is the difference VIP to EXE ?

I think i was misunderstood.  i didn't mean low budget as in "cheap" per se.  It is obvious that when modifying your vipcar vip style/vip exe breaks the bank, well thats if money doesn't come easy for you.  If you did not know this then you're in the wrong hobby, correct?  what i meant was the money "possibly" involved in achieving a vip look as oppose to vip exe is more but not necessarily.  there is a lot of body work involved in a true vip style - flares, kit, molding.  vip exe will sometimes have a kit but not as extreme, as some of you stated.  Some vip exe style keep the body stock while sporting wheels and suspension.

its pretty much true that exe enthusiasts like the subtle look, me myself included.

Re: What is the difference VIP to EXE ?

EXE to me has always been more about german wheels like Brabus and Carlsson and BBS LM's which is why the fitments are less extreme because those brands dont offer crazy fitment options. However thats where I start to draw the line between VIP and EXE.

i think this is a perfect example of an EXE styled car

I know we all have our opinions here and that is cool but what you said is far from what is true about VIP and EXE.
VIP - bold (said in another thread) Tall, bulky kits/extreme fitting rims/stretched tires/slammed/and given accessories.
EXE - Elegance (I would say) You can still have all of the above but usually the kits are more rounded for a sleek look, rims dont poke out much, tires can be stretched, or not (but I myself wouldn't called that EXE) and still a great stance (aka low as you can go) + knick knacks (technology, features, and options)

Re: What is the difference VIP to EXE ?

Late model and new model mean the same thing, but i think you are trying to say "older cars" vs "newer cars"

Not really. EXE is just subtle styling mods, like wheels, lip lit and lowered.
'VIP' is actually how they describe the Japanese luxury cars over there "eh? Q45? bippu ka~!" (translated: "Oh you drive a Q45? Thats a vip car!").

So a VIP car can be EXE, and almost all EXE cars are VIP Cars to start with

Then there is VIP Styling, which *used* to mean wild wide body mods and crazy kits; now it is more broad, and EXE is included under VIP Styling

Confused?? Think of it like this: We all like VIP style cars here (at least i hope we do!). Those that like 'EXE style' are just saying the are into subtle, understated mods over the wilder cars

Then there is Yankee (formerly referred to as Bosozoku, thanks to a mislabled thread on VWVortex showing pics of Yankee cars claiming them as Boso cars). They are the really wild oldschool cars, hard angles big wings and 'bamboo spear' exhausts

Re: What is the difference VIP to EXE ?

EXE - lip kit, classy wheels (does not have to be multi piece to achieve look) with good fitment but w/ little fender work (usually a roll to make them fit.), mild drop (when I say mild i dont mean 20mm, more like 45mm+), usually not more than a couple of degree of -/ camber if any, lip wings(optional), mild stretch on the tires (225/35/18 on a 18x9 wheel)

VIP - Tall Body kits, slammed or near slammed, multi piece wheels with large lips that require a pull of atleast 20mm to make fit along with negative camber, 3 peice wings (optional), wild stretch on the tires(225/35/18 on a 18x10 wheel)

This is my take from what Ive read from the senior members on this forum.

given the style in the literal sense, i woudl agree with you.

but imo, i think executives are more extremists than gangsters (i.e. druglords, mafias, executives in connection with the undeground) only because executives fear the underground lifestyle thus continuously speaks of reform, whereas the underground has been very traditional about their roles and practices and we all know the the top dogs of the underground control the economy and society :D

Mainly because the concept of auto styling luxury cars is still under developed here in the states i think for this catagorie.....flame on, but it's my opinion..

I'd say you're right. One of the things I always noticed was that you'll see many of the same cars in VIP C/S and afEXE. However, I think EXE is too small a niche to survive on it's own, afEXE isn't even published any more that I know of. Last time I was in Japan I didn't see it in any book store and I haven't seen it over here in any book store at least for 1 year. I think the last copy I have is from like December 06.

These are two stages of my ride. And possibly the best example of the differances of EXE and VIP.

to me EXE is a very mild style. Catalog cars like Wald, L-Sportline, lipkits, oem paintjobs, flush or tucked wheels, not very aggresive at all. Everything done to the car is very subtle, and OEM like.

example EXE
Forum image

to me VIP is a more extreme style. Full big ass kits, crazy offsets, widebody, dumpt to the floor, lots of NOT subtle accessories (BLING BLING), loud paint jobs, big exhaust, etc.

Anis, not that I don't agree w/ you your comparison. Honestly, stateside, how many acceptable examples of vip exist? 10-20 is my guess, if that even. I think ppl have a sort of comfort zone in regards to how far they are willing to style, kinda like how ppl dress. Mild vip-ers to wild vip-ers. Some prefer the simplicity of a lip opposed to the gaudy full facia (if not made correctly will crack and/or not even fit). Now in agreement, the majortiy consenses is the slammed characteristics, no question about that! Cambered, tucked, tsurachi, poked, all vip enspired IMO.

wrd, In Japan there is a big differance between the extreme VIP and the very subtle EXE styling. Sucks that here in the states everyone has a scewed vision of what VIP/EXE really is.

[QUOTE=augdogg;174582]Anis, not that I don't agree w/ you your comparison. Yeh well at least we're trying, and ultimately it will be our own, and not so much the standard of another country. Like mentioned before there really aren't many differences between the two imo. It's refreshing to NOT see cookie cut-outs, cause it makes cars like yours all the more valuable/rare. In the end it's all about the friends you make because of the appreciation we all share i think.

i've been thinking about this a lot lately (not necesarly vip vs. exe). i always figured that looking at mags and websites should give a pretty good idea of what its really about but then i think about the scenes i know and what cars get coverage in them. i geuss the only way to really know is to live it. other than that we're just guessing.

Thanks for elaborating more on this subject. I am a newbie on here, and knowing that this forum has been going on for a couple of yrs now. I figured my questions has already been asked.

OFF TOPIC:
This forum has a red carpet for newbies, and its a tight circle.
I came from a nitemare forum called my.IS and they bash and push away newbies, because thats how they roll. They dont care about cars, they care about how peeps represents themselves on the internet.

i agree with some people that say that the line has blurred a bit. im pretty new to all this but from the outside looking in its a bit wierd the terminology because to be VIP you need the VIP platform so that is defined by the platform itself, but then you can have a VIP car and make it VIP or make it EXE. So it is almost like EXE and VIP are subcategories of VIP as a platform-based modification.

i guess i want my car to fall somewhere in between VIP and EXE so im not sure what it will be haha because i dont want big bodywork (been there, done that on my S13) but i do want other VIP 'bling' touches and still try to acheive tight fitment and low height.

I suppose the Insurance Group demo cars would be EXE? i wonder about them, because theyre low and fairly bling but the wheel designs they run and the offsets are more EXE i guess. i guess thats what sometimes throws me about some of the cars i see in VIP magazines, because theyre a little loud to be EXE but a little too soft-edged to be 'VIP' ...

Well from my time spent learning about the culture EXE = VIP....

VIP is the Style of car modding...Stance* Fitment *Platform....IS a key in both!!!

Now there is Mild and Wild..

Mild would be your Aero kits that look very Factory..Not much fender mods as wheel choice would be less aggressive and less camber to make them fit the car. Maybe not as slammed BUT you still can go as low as you want and pull of a very nice EXE look..Wheels are not as aggressive in the fitment..regardless of flat face or dish style wheels.

Wild is When lots of Modding goes into the car to fit those Crazy Offset wheels LOTS OF CAMBER..More aggressive body kits BUT a Body Kit is NOT necessary to pull of a Wild Style of VIP..Cars are usually lower..When using Body Kits they are usually kits that look like aero kits and not so much factory.

Then there is the older style of GT VIP...where they go real crazy with crazy ass body kits,,Crazy Pipes sticking out the back,,Big Wings lots of air vents Real Customized Hacked up body kits, Really Wide Body Work on front and Back....

But VIP is a VIPcar!! Whether it is Mild or Wild....and then like said above subcategorized..

I guess you could say EXE VS VIP is just a Milder way of going VIP but BOTH ARE VIP...

I hardly use EXE anymore and just go with Mild or Wild..its easier and no confusion.

ya, thats something I really hate. How is EVERYONE else in the entire world going to use metric system and we have our bullshit inches and feet. Its retarded, especially when it comes down to my air suspension fittings in US measure and the rest of the car in the metric measure :rules:
