Re: New Wheels Just Arrived (for OnTop)
thanks man maybe the guys on the "TRUE FWD Lip" thread can see that a rim like this can go on a FWD. with A LOT of body mods of course. im sure ''purists'' will be dogging me about staggered sizing on a FWD soon enough.
but the wheel specs are:
18x9.5 +10
18x10 -6
more pics
awe the fourth on is out of the picture

Damn, they're nice sizes. Did you get them new? I'd like to get similar sizes myself, but i'm not getting wheels until closer to the end of the year...

these purist you mention... well, they like to call themselves 'purists'... are the same people who consider their accord (no offense here really, but accords really are a FWD, econo-honda) a race car. I say kudos for you for doing something stylish that you will actually enjoy on a car that really doesn't have 'purists' performance in mind. I always laugh when I see a post on retard-tech or the car lounge where people dog on somebody for staggard fitment on a FWD car...
-oh your understeer is going to ruin your handling etc... blah blah blah
Wake up guys, it is an accord/civic/jetta/insert entrly level FWD car meant for economy with a touch of style and minimal performance characteristics.
Ok, off the soap box for a moment...
I am loving that wheel size, can't wait to see them on the widecord.

awesome !! I just had a person contacting me regarding what sizes they could run on a widebody Acura EL. Nice choices ! I'm also suprised there is so much lip for 10" -6 . Great wheel design. My rear weds are 11.5 +1 have the same amount of lip.

Those looks sweet. Damn that's gonna be a crazy accord.
I just checked out Work Japan's retail pricing on their Japan site and it's already gone up but probably won't go up for US like you said until after first quarter. That sucks. I might have to order a set for my bimmer before the prices go up.

1600-1900 used is a decent estimate. considering they're new, he may have paid twice that amount.

That depends on what you consider a "great deal".
On the surface it would seem I got a "great deal" through Rishie as well, but after you consider all the factors such as all the lies I was told by him, how much bullshit I had to put up with from him, and not to mention the fact that I could have gotten them through another source cheaper and MUCH faster... I beg to differ.
He may think he got a good deal, if so I'm glad he feels that way. He got lucky.

Re: New Wheels Just Arrived (for OnTop)
hmmm, but if you factor in the cost of having to redrill the bolt pattern on the wheels... you might not come out on top (no pun intended)... but the bigger problem is I was looking at this pic I have of the back mounting pad of another work euroline, and it looks like it was cast specifically for a 5 lug pattern. Now, different eurolines (and different production runs) may be cast differently, and you might be lucky and have mounting pads that were made to accomodate the multiple lug patterns... but if you're unlucky, you might have one that was made JUST for 5 lug like the ones in the pic below, and then there is no way to redrill the wheels and safely run them
note the pockets between the lug holes... no way to run these in a 4 lug application

I find it really hard to believe that people can get such great deals on wheels, we only make $80-120 per wheel on works at our shop and we get them at wholesale pricing. Just what kind of deal are we talking about?

Re: New Wheels Just Arrived (for OnTop)
wow good pic wayne, the back is solid van so yes i have the option to drill out the wheel. but dont i run a safety issue? i happen to know a local wheel shop that drills ''blanks'' all day long and they say its not a big deal. i know a ''9'' hole pattern is nothing new and racing hart c5's(similar slim 5 spoke) are done that way. am i just over-thinking this.
btw-i requested that the wheels are to be a 9hole but for some reason work doesnt sell the FS like that.(we didnt know that) it was either/or and they(work) sent the closest thing. personally its not a big deal, im not going to bitch the middle man(rishi) because he's doing everything he can to help. and yes, even with the deal plus a slight ''road bump'' i think i came out with a pretty good deal. i still highly recommend -auto rnd-

Re: New Wheels Just Arrived (for OnTop)
wow you win there.. that's the same backpad they use for all their bolt patterns (4 and 5), so if you go the redrilling route, it should be all good to do it on that wheel... (make sure all 4 have that same flat pad).

Re: New Wheels Just Arrived (for OnTop)
I think his concern is the lack of materials holding the weight of his car when he drills...look at the red circles on the mounting hub, with holes being there, theres very then metal supporting it, also the red lines showing the thickness of the bottom of the spokes, then all the red areas is all the open space...would it still be safe to drill those 4 lugs in there? my recomendation was to drill the new holes off of the old holes, kidna like when you see a 4/5 lug wheel, its like two holes in one pretty much...anyone see any safety issues with this? (sorry the picture looks like a 5 year old got his hands on it, but i hope it gets the point accross)

Re: New Wheels Just Arrived (for OnTop)
I know your worried about safety but I think it would be cheaper and easier to just re drill the wheels to 4 lug. Like was stated, that same back pad is dual drilled for other Work models. I've done 5 lug on my old s13 and it cost around 900 US just for parts to get an extra stud.

Re: New Wheels Just Arrived (for OnTop)
can all this be done at home? i would like to see how this comes out, because its been such a hassle to look for rims for the accord since alot of better stuff is 5-lugs anyways. ontop, they did make a 5-lug wagon in the last year of our generation's production i think, though it would be hard as hell to find parts from it. so im guessing best bet are parts from an odysesey?

yeah all of it can be done at home except for a ball joint for both fronts which has to be pressed out and has to be pressed back in. the joint doesnt have to be on the car so i can take it to my friends shop for that to be done. the 5th gen(94-97) was never 5 lug anywhere. the next generation came five lug in the v6 models. almost all the parts are interchangable with the 95-98 odyssey

Drill press or mill? I don't think you can be accurate enough with a drill press to do this right. At 60mph .030 out of round probably feels like you're driving on square tires.
