BART Police fatally shoots man in back while cuffed-Family sues for $25 million

The BART officer who shot Oscar Grant resigned a few days ago and has yet to be questioned. He is a 2 year veteran and they hired him straight out of the academy. 

This whole story is crazy. The officer was wrong because he already had the 22 yr old lying face down. Also two knees were holding Grant down.  There was no reason to shoot him whether the officer though it was a taser or a real gun.  Its fucked up. A lot of people were so upset with Bart's reaction to this that a riot occurred in Oakland from approximately 3pm to 10pm. There hasn't been any real updates.

It's unfortunate that something like this has happened but I honestly believe $25-million is quite excessive.

can't really put a price on someone that shouldn't have been killed.

Finally some good news on this situation and I agree VI IX who's to say what amount is excessive no matter what they ask for or receive Oscar Grant's not coming back...and I hope they dont let another Rodney King type verdict come about I could see that being real ugly especially since this kid is dead

If you have seen what has been done by the riot, you would know how I feel about it. They needed to do this because another protest is planned to occur tomorrow in Oakland. But who knows maybe the protest might end up turning into a riot tomorrow anyways.

It's oaktown so I wouldn't doubt a riot breaks out. Be more surprising to see one not break out! 
I don't agree w/ the riots at all. I do understand the fustration but at the same time I jus can't justify that w/ f*** up your own city. I am however ok w/ all the cop cars that got F* up! as contridicting as that may sound! Hahahahahahaha......

There was a chick cop  who tasered a kid who was helping to move his family just the other day.  It caused him to fall into traffic..now he's in a coma.  Nice...wtf is with cops lately?

And if he already has 2 years in the force would he know the difference in the way the two feels?
 
Or was he trying to pull the gun out to try to "scare" the guy so he wouldnt fight and it accidentally went off.

I can see another Rodney King riot here if the officer only gets a slap on the wrist.

regardless if he thought it was a taser, you dont tase a guy faced down in handcuffs.  it still would have been abuse.

Still in court. Judge put a $3M bail which I don't think he deserves. KTVU always has the latest on the shooting.

i dont think there will be anything like rodney king in today's times,  the people have become quite passive on matters relating to police injustice on minorites,,,, sean bell, amadou dialo, etc. and the list goes one... we need unity, but the mental washing has caused so much division amongst the bretheren that it has come to my attention that many people just see it as, it isnt my problem...
idk but the great Rev. MLK Jr. once said, a threat to injustice anywhere is a threat to injustice everywhere... seriously what has become of my/our generation?

Police officer fatally shot and killed someone at a high school graduation party.  Nothing outlandish happened when news spread throughout the county.  Even the local news channels took note of this.   This happened last year.  

Over a decade ago, a police officer chased a man into traffic and shot and killed him (during rush hour traffic).  Riots ensued resulting in one, if not two, local news vans catching on fire.  This happened while I was still in middle school.  On a random note, the majority of white kids at my school did not show up the next day.  For about two weeks since the shooting, fights would occur often and it seemed like it was racially motivated.  When I think back at it, it seemed more like riots.  It was definitely out of control.
