As low as I can go on coils
My car is slammed on Tein SS in the front and I cant go any lower. I wish I could drop it about another inch. My question to you guys is........Can I remove one of the spinning dials so that the spring isnt sitting on two dials, and it just sits on one?
#2 Or is my ride hight fine, by the way I have 20x8.5 upfront in this pic.....New rims upfront will be 20x9

i did it on my last car without issue, i know others have too in S13 circles. the 2nd disc is a locking disc, so i always was of the impression it wasnt there as necessarilly another load bearing part.
also, i couldnt get the top nuts off mine so i literally cut through them and got them off, and those buggers are tough! theyre not just going to snap, and mine were on 10yr old Tein coilovers

So I can do it , but its not going to be easy to screw one of the disk off?....Right?

I think that height is good. Any lower you will regret it.

if you bottoming them out (i.e. lower spring perch is touching the lower bracket) then you can remove both locking nuts.
i dunno what ant is referring to but you should be able to just remove the lower bracket and screw them off. maybe teins are different, i dunno.

Tein SS are not full tap coilovers. Taking out a collar will even make it more prone to bottoming out the shock. Just sell them and get fully adjustable ones, ie jic flta2, megan, bc racing, tein flex, etc.

ride height looks good to me...any lower and you could be breaking s#it off and seriously hindering your ability to clear driveways. Don't get me wrong cuz im a fan of a slammed car, but ask yourself, does my car need to be lower for me to appreciate it more. If so, you have your answer. I would consider air if thats the case.

Hmmmm, I bout my Tein SS two years ago because I thought they go lower then any other Tein coils. I wish I didnt have to sell, and get new coils.....But nizzan4u2nv.....your saying I can do it, but its gonna ride like sh%t ???? And if I was to get a new set of coils , as low as I want to drop my car on coils isnt it still gonna bottom out with jic fita2, megan, bc racing , ect.

You can do it. Yeah, it's harder on the shocks, but if the other option is getting a new set, might as well do it and wait for these to maybe blow, while you save up some money for full tap coilovers. I'm currently 'drooping' the spring in the front on my car. Doesn't ride any worse, just reduces shock travel. Not really worse than lowering springs on stock struts imo.

Well, the front UCA will bottom out on the shock tower eventually but the shock itself will never bottom out. Full tap coilovers are designed to lower your car while still maintaining full shock travel regardless where height is set. You can try taking out one of the perches on your tein SS and see if it bothers you or not. Then again, youre only gonna gain 1/4in or so.

Thanks guys for your replys!!!!!!! .................Well how about this!.........What if I just cut one of the coils on the spring? Is that a little better?

FLEX will go a lot lower than you need to, and it's a full tap coilover, so you can lower the shock body without drooping the springs. If you get a set of Tein CS, you can install UAS bags, and be able to drive low, and park lower...just a thought. My problem, which is about to be where your problem is if you go lower, will be the UCA...you will need to cut out the area where it hits and raise it and re-weld it closed. (so it doesn't rust and looks better)

no... not better.
i didn't realize these were single tap. just live with what you got or replace with full tap.

just buy some swift springs
if you know the height of the current spring, just order some that are a little shorter and increase the spring rate a bit to compensate
that way, you can get the desired drop, increase spring rate, and save some money until you upgrade to different coilovers or air
don't waste your time cutting springs, you're going to regret it later on

I don't think that will work, since the shock absorber won't have as much travel, it will lead to blowing out sooner still.

I know what it means in after reading your posts, but what does TAP stand for exactly?
Your car is low already. :-)

BEEN THERE DONE THAT!!!! allready had the tein SS, allready ordered stiffer shorter springs from tein. was still not low enough so i cut a coil and a half off those. still rode like shit regardless. the SS is a really good single tap setup, and the bumpstop is situated where the shock will bottom Right BEFORE the UCA hits. this is a good thing but as u go lower, no matter what u will not have enough travel for your car to not ride like shit. here is my ride height on cut SS coils and it rides like shit:
http://www.vipstylecars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11220&page=4
the only thing i think u should do is take one of the locking collars off until u get some double tap coils and cut out clearance for those UCA'a cuz u will NEED to, even at the heght that u are now. also u will need to get 30 series tires to keep running 20's on the front because with the added travel your tires will start hitting the top of your wheelwells. all of this is personal experience. as i said, BEEN THERE DONE THAT!
EDIT: i had my SS dampers revalved for stiffness also
BUY Caoboy's FLEX ITS GOOD!!! :-)

tapped = threaded.
Single tap in this case, only the spring perch is tapped. Full tap, the bottom mount is tapped too, and the strut body is fully threaded

yah, im a bit slow on this response since my other was so quick, but that is what i meant in saying its hard to get the perch off. My old Teins were like HRs or something and they also were not base height adjustable, only spring perches.
Since they were so old and i didnt have a rattle gun or anything i couldnt get the top nuts off the coilovers to get the strut tops off. So i couldnt just lift off the spring and spin the perches up and off. I had to literally sit and cut carefully through them with a hacksaw blade till they snapped off, without damaging the threads on the coilovers themselves so i could still lower the other perches down.
Got there in the end and it was a noticeable difference, and to be honest it still rode okay. hard as heck but not badly...it didnt seem to bottom out. And one of them was blown too haha If you can be bothered and/or have a rattle gun and can get the strut tops off, id do it. it isnt really gonna hurt and might get you just that bit lower that you're chasing.
Ultimately though, its a budget move. you want some coilovers that are base height adjustable so you can wind the base up to lower the car but leave the spring perches alone. It is also good to try and get some that are reasonbly stiff in the spring rates and damper adjustable if you're going really low, because obviously if you go very low and the springs and damping of the coilover is quite soft and plush, then it will bounce and dip etc and hit the ground!
