"The Barack" is in...my new ride
Just bought my new car, I hope to learn a bit from this site and get involved...seems like a place that would welcome...
A 1992 Nissan President Sovereign...
That's right folks, my new car even has a name already; totally by coincidence, in the same week, the USA get a new President, who's black...hence my car, "The Barack", if you follow me...
I'm REALLY happy with it...I've been into VIP cars for a while now, actually since I saw my first Skyline. I really like the slammed, super cambered look, but I'm gonna keep this one a little more road worthy.
The car needs a few things off the bat, I'm trying to sort out some suspension woes; the Actsus has been ripped out and it's been swapped with GTR suspension. I'll be upgrading to better coilovers soon. I'm also ditching the wheels and putting on some different ones; not as elaborate as many of the rides on here, a little more subdued and sporty. We'll have to see when they're actually on how they look...
But right now, I'll be replacing the OEM TV in the back with a new one, a touchscreen double-din stereo (none right now!), alarm of course...and some cosmetic interior bits.
Specs on the President:
4.5L V8 VH45DE 280hp engine, shared with the North American Infiniti Q45
Sovereign model 22" longer than the normal version!
FULL Junction Produce body kit, with rare over-fenders
Rear TV, reclinable heated rear seats, rear climate control, rear air purifier...
Power EVERYTHING
I'm really falling in love with this thing! The wheels are FS by the way, ad soon to come :)
Here are some pics I stole from the importer's site, and my own, next to my buddy's Civic, which some may recognize from my photoshoot a few months back:

Here it is next to the Civic...to gauge the size of my car, both rear bumpers are in line!!!

Thanks for looking! And please don't flame/shun me!!!
My GTR can be seen here:

That car is already mad VIP. Yes, you should change your wheels to something more aggressive. But please elaborate on what you mean by going "sporty" with the wheels. Please try to keep up with the VIP theme that your car already is, and don't slap something like Volk or Advan. That would just totally kill it.

Haha, thanks for the props guys. Don't worry, the exhaust is going! For whatever reason the exhaust was swithced for inspection purposes, even though there are no regulations on exhaust. It came with another exhaust which is pretty sweet.
Headlights and exhaust are going in ASAP.
Because it's my daily driver and because we have shitty roads and weather here in Vancouver I won't be lowering it much more right now...maybe for a show, but it will stay at that height for now.
As for the wheels, I'm gonna try them out for now and see what I think.

^ as above, that car is so VIP already it needs just some nice little touches to really set it off hard. and im a little concerned with "ive been into VIP cars, ever since i saw my first skyline"? Skylines arent VIP at all, though some older ones are sortof boso styled...
do some looking around picture threads and so on, there's some really nice President pics around, and really all yours needs is 19s or 20s and air suspension and you'll be laughing. great car choice :-D

When I said "since I saw my first skyline", I was referring to the whole JDM import scene here in Canada. I saw a couple Glorias and Cedrics around the time I got my GTS-4, and loved them. Never been huge into the Lexus line, but I'm starting to like them. I looked at a Celsior up here too. I've had two skylines, and just sold my awesome GTR, but now I want something different. And I'll be doing something quite different.
There are some really nice cars on this site, and I may switch it up down the road with some bigger changes. But for now I'm still getting used to the car, and still have some ideas of what I want to do.
The stock ACTSUS was removed when the car arrived in Canada and crudely chopped out. When I get a chance I'll collect all the parts again I'll reinstall the air suspension. For now I'm going with GTR coilovers.

the g50 isn't an air suspension, it's a hydraulic active suspension. you'd be better off correctly removing the active suspension and going with an aftermarket setup, be it air or coilovers. there just isn't much adjustability with the oem setup even with the poorly documented suspension controller installed.

Right, that's what I meant....hydraulic of course :)
I agree, I'd love to pull out all the active suspension related stuff one day and start from scratch. There's a K-Sport air setup in another section that's pretty sweet, with the tank installed in the spare tire well.

Unless their dampers are more reliable (and they may be, they said they were working on it), I wouldn't want to be the one trying out a K-Sport air suspension.

Hahahaha....that's hilarious :D
I wish it was easier for you guys in the US to import, I know many people would...mind you, that would take away from all the nice ones available to us :D
Seriously though, importing cars here already has had an impact on used car sales...no one wants to buy POS local high mileage cars, and why would you? But I could care less...I think most people are afraid of right hand drive, unfortunately...

Ya, I got the gear placement question all the time in the GTR. Understandable question, the one I don't get is:
"So, are the pedals in the same place???"
Sweet Jesus...

The problem with K-Sport is the dampers, they have a short lifespan, and if you're getting them for race, they're kind of all over the place on the shock dynos.

New pics
Finally got my JDM headlights delivered, from a company called Panda Garage in El Cajon, California. Probably the only set on this side of the water! Night and day difference in appearance, it finally looks how it should. However, not exactly what I wanted, I want the kouki headlights from the later models. They kept this body style from 1990-2002, and there were minor cosmetic changes. I have the Kouki grille, which is larger and more modern looking, but the kouki headlights were HID stock and just look newer and brighter. Cheapest set I've seen on Yahoo Japan were about 90,000 yen!
And here are some interior shots, very roomy back there :D Keep in mind, both front seats are all the way back! I'll be chopping out that old CRT TV and putting in a new LCD monitor and run it off the double DIN deck I'll be getting soon. Still sorting out suspension issues and waiting on parts...
You'll notice some interior bits are a bit roughed up...I'll be replacing those or cleaning them up in time...
Headlights: BEFORE

AFTER (most current pic)

Interior: TV remote, rear climate control and air purifier control, reclinable rear seats, heated rear seats etc. And I installed my MOMO wheel from my GTR :D

Thanks for looking!
