What are your experiences with 215/35 tires?

I have 18x8 and 18x9.
I was going to get 225/35 and 235/35, but they don't make 235/35-18.

Plan A is 225/35 for fronts and rear.
Plan B is 215/35 fronts and 225/35 rears.

I'm just afraid that 215/35 is just too thin, don't want to bend rims on small bumps in roads.
If it helps: I drive on Georgia roads I-75, I-285, and I-85 every single day.
Tires would be Nankang NS-II since they are half the price of all others for 225/35.


So I'd like to know your experiences with 215/35.

I won't run 215/35 again.  I ran 215/35/19 Falken ST115 on 19x8.5 all around on my KA9.  Ride was pretty rough and I managed to get a sidewall bubble the 2nd day driving on the tire.  I hit some uneven highway pretty hard and I am not sure if a a larger tire would have survived.  The load was likely to low for the weight of my car as well.

What kinda car? How heavy is the car and what kinda driving do you do when you daily it?

215 35 seems to be little too skinny but i might be wrong...

i am running 225 40 on my 8 and they dont stretch much but on the rear 8.5 they really stretch nice so i would think they would stretch even better on 9's

It's for an Acura Legend.  Roads are rough, and I drive semi-aggressive.

I use to have 215/40 fronts and 225/40 rear, and they were okay.  But want to go thinner.

AME_VIP scares me, so I prolly do 225/35 all around.  Sucks because I'm going to have tiny stretch front, and probably major stretch rear (since I hear Nankang NS-II runs skinny)

Why don't manufacturers make 235/35-18?

it depends on the tire. i got a 215/35/18 on my daily lexus wheels, and man they are skinny and slim.
whereas my old fk452 215/.35/19 on my trafficstars, they were somewhat beefier and overall nice looking.
it depends on the tire brands.

On a bigger car like a Legend I'd probably stay with 40 series.
With a narrow 35 series, from a distance it starts to look like you have 
no tires on the car at all.

On my AW11 MR2 I run 18x8 and 18x9
with 205/35-18 front and 235/30-18 rear.
Toyo makes them in the T1-R

Has a bit of a nice stretch on the 8s & 9s.
Which is good because they would never fit otherwise.
Looks good on the Mister but it is a small car

i ran a 215/35 on a 18x8 and it was a nice stretch.. it wasn't that crazy..
i did it for 2 years straight and never had any crazy issues besides
camber wear.

I run 215/35 on 18x7s on my daily. You should see how many bends and cracks those Work Rezax have, its rediculous hah. They still hold air and balance kinda so i guess its not that bad.

I'm running the Fk452 215/35/19 on my Amistads 19x8.5. Seems to be alright to me. No problems so far. But I noticed the 452s run a little bigger than say like the Nankang NS-IIs. I think if I wanted more of a stretch I'd run the same size but with the NS-IIs since they seem to be a little smaller.

I'd suggest 215/40/18 and 225/40/18  for the 8 and 9.  Like Smitty says, it honestly depends on the type of tire.  I'm currently on FK452s with this setup on my 8 and 9, and the stretch is minimal to say the least.  I plan on changing out to some Nankangs on my new wheels.  Do some research to see what kind of look you want to go, good luck on the search =]
