BBS RS lip size conversion??

so, ive been searching and searching through euro forums, anyhow i dont understand how the width changes on the wheels when you replace 1", 1.5", 2" 2.5" etc. any euro guys here than can skool me?? this is what i have 17x8 +35 17x9 +19. i wanna get the 8's to 8.5-9 and the 9's to 10". what lip sizes do i use to get at that point and what will the new offset will be. its driving me nuts, cant really find a straight answer. :pat:thanks!

I am just giving you an example here.  I am not sure of the actual lip sizes for these given offsets since I don't know how thick the face of the wheel is nor do I know how thick the disk's are.
 
8 +35  1.5" lip
9 +19  2.5" lip
 
It all depends on what offset/ lip size you are trying to achieve
 
Play around with the offset calculator and you should figure it out.
 
9 +23 2.5" lip
10 +8  3.5" lip

change any of the width specs of the inner or outer barrel and everything changes.   Even change the offset and keeping the same overall width will change the inner and outer barrel widths.    

Say you just change the outer lip to a deeper one then the offset goes lower but the width goes up.

i've been doin mad rs research for a minute now, here's how it goes:
 
first you gotta figure out what lip size you have.

for standard lips:

measure to the bead. this is a 2.5" lip.

for drop lips (.5"/1" rs):

measure from the mating flange to the outer edge of the lip, then subtract the width of the bead. this is a .5" lip.
 
now that you know what size you have you get +.5"/1"/1.5"/etc. so to turn an 8" wide wheel with a 1" lip into a 9" you would need a 2" lip (referred to as a +1").
 
for offset, every:
 
+1" = -12 offset (~)
+.5" = -6 offset (~)
 
i.e. +1.5" lip = -18 offset
 
so, for example, if you were to take the 8 +35 and add a +2" lip you would end up with a 17x10 +11.
 
if you were to take the 9 +19 and add a +1" lip you would end up with a 17x10 +7.
 
if you are going for 9/10 setup somewhere in the teens my suggestion would be to run the 9 up front as is and rebuild the 8 into a 10.that will give you the best balance front to rear. as a matter of fact:
 
option a (+1" f&r): 17x9 +22/17x10 +7
option b (+2" on 8" only): 19x9 +19/17x10+11
 
those are your 2 potential choices. pick one, measure the original lips, order replacements, win!

from what i know u have to figure out the dimesions of the barrell as well as the lip size(oem) and go from there.

also a member name g-magoo.. ask him.. he built a set and he is of great help.. i have asked him few questions

most people don't mess with the barrel but thats definitely another option if you want to adjust offset even more. i.e. higher or lower offset than what you end with with a lip swap

^ very true.. the reason why i said barrel was some rs u have to figure what is the specs on the barrel to get the exact size of the oem lip.

ok... i'm done editing now. that covers both drop and standard lips.

wow, i was gonna do this for my zenki s14. been looking at RS's for a while.  did u pick these up at RB wheels?  i was looking at lips off of e-bay from seller racing team hoft?? or something like that.

racing team hoffman is a good seller.. some of my friends have got lips from him.. and he is a cool dude.. will also deal with u and give u deals on shipping

got them on YAJ. go through that website i posted for lips, its a lot cheaper than what the prices are on ebay.
 
 
 
i think im just gonna use the 9's for the front and buy a new lip for the 8's to get it to 10
