Garage Flooring

Anyone got any hookups here in Orange County?   I want to epoxy the garage floor or whatever is new these days.  Nothing crazy.  Cheaper the better.  Just has to hold up abuse from jacks and jackstands.

i picked this up from home depot a couple years ago and it was really easy to use. just get some rollers, call up a couple of friends for some help, and follow the instructions that comes with the kit. My floor is still holding up and it makes my garage look a lot nicer imo..

I remember getting quoted around 500-600 to have someone do it for you. they basically use the same epoxy stuff and they do a lot faster ofcourse.

hey bro if your a costco member id check out their website. they have this epoxy that ive seen in someones garage thats pretty sweet for a diy job. its pretty much the same as posted above, but it has grit in it so its supposedly non slip.

I looked up the one from Costco.   The reviews are mixed so not sure on that one.   I'm thinking of maybe just getting it done now so I can have some kind of warranty or guarantee.

yeah i read the reviews on costco also. its mostly about water puddles collecting, but i mean its an epoxy seal where else is the water gonna go bead off to, a lesser garage floor? haha

i've been doing a lot of research on this stuff for a while now for my shop floor. i've read reviews, spec sheets, faq's, and talked to people who have used it residentially and commercially. it basically comes down to the prep and the non-sand/etch products supposedly aren't the same caliber products.
 
fwiw, the rusto products has the best rep from what i've seen as far as the easy on choices. i also gather that if you do do the extensive prep (sand the concrete, acid etch, apply) there isn't much difference.
 
personally, i'm going to call monday and see how much it will cost to have someone else do it the "right" way. i don't want to do all that work.

Hmm....if you want the tiles version there are other cheaper quality companies out there (check ebay).  

Other than that, the cheapest I would think is epoxy the floor. Or I have heard people using VCT tiles...I am not sure if VCT is the brand or the TYPE of tiles.

the tiles was my original plan, and no... you can't do anywhere near the same area for the same amount of money.

I used UCoatIt (the stuff they advertise on the Speed channel) about 4 years ago in my garage, and it's still looking good.

i just did my two car garage using the stuff from homedepot. i think it was the baer brand. it was like a complete kit with rollers and everything. i bought two kits. it was about $80 for each. my brother in law and i did it in two days. it took two days because we washed and etched the floor the first day. it was really easy. it seems to be holding up really good. clean up is a breeze. pretty much just wipes up clean. i think one person should be able to do it. was pretty easy. good luck.
