My adventure begins (New Member Intro)
Memorial day 2009 it all begins.
My names Jacob im 17 and am residing in Orlando, FL and i have always admired the VIP style and for a while have dreamed of obtaining a VIP style platform car.
So yesterday i made the purchase a 1993 Infiniti Q45.
It is basically my first car and i could not be more excited i just sat in it for hours today.
So now my adventure begins in the VIP world and i have big big plans that im eager to begin.
It is black on tan and is the q45a with active suspension and the BBS wheels.
I could not believe that i came across this deal the car is in amazing shape.
I am planning to get it insured and registered tomorrow to start driving it daily.
Here are some pics:

nice choice. black g50 ftw.
if you haven't done your research, let me be the first to warn you on the maintenance. it's gonna be tempting to jump into mods but the g50 requires a lot of deferred/preventive maintenance or you're driving a time bomb. would suck to dump vip money into mods only to have catastrophic failure. mark your first few thousand off to getting it in shape mechanically.
welcome aboard.

thanks man, awesome car though i've seen some pics of it before.
But i know i have some maintenance to do for sure i was going to just change all the fluids, spark plugs and wires, belts, fuel pump, and get a transmission cooler, but other then that what could add up to a few thousand? i know about changing the timing chain guides to metal also but what else?
thanks for your input

Welcome and congrats on the purchase. From what I remember, the active suspension Q's were a pain to deal with and can even prevent you from slamming it without removing it. Hopefully the G50 guys can lead you in the right direction

the chain guides are a a priority as you said. other common issues are the fuel pump (which you mentioned) and the ks/injectors. the second can turn into a pretty costly project if you do it the right way (more or less so depending on if you pay for labor or diy) because of the hoses involved. this can go from well under $1k if you pick and choose what you fix to $2k+ if you take the "do it once" approach (all injectors, ks, harnesses, and hoses).
the "a" can also cause a problem. chances are your active suspension will either need to be repaired or converted to non-active. i'm fairly sure by the stance that yours needs some attention.

ron seems to be having some luck with the suspension controllers. not sure if he has al the bugs out yet.
but considering the cost of active repair + controller i would probably just swap it out, assuming the system wasn't working properly.

may i ask what ks stands for? as for injectors that makes sense but is it really necessary to do all that work right away if its driving perfect right now? and the fuel pump has been replaced and is brand new so don't have to worry about that.
but yeah for the "a" i know that i just have a line thats leaking that im looking out for right now i was told you can get it at the dealer for $150 but that from my understanding is the only problem and should be an easy fix but they do seem overwhelming do you have any more details on the controller because thats something id really like to look into.

ks = knock sensors
and no, there's no reason to fix it if it aint broke, but i would have that money set aside so when something does go you can go ahead and tackle it all at once. here's the process for ohm testing your injectors/ks:
http://q45.org/ohminjectors.html
source for rebuilt active suspension parts:
http://www.activesuspensionsystems.com/index.html
for the controller hit up member RASX7. all i know is he's been using them, he has the details.

B on B pretty much took the words out of my mouth.
I would definitely hit up
http://forums.nicoclub.com/ for alot of good info on the G50 maintenance and servicing.
These cars do require a good amount of money before you would want to spend money on VIP parts.

im not sure what happened but i made a really long post and when i posted it all that came out with that quote and i tried editing it over and over and it wouldn't change. Either way im saving up money to try to do some maintenance work and will make a more in-depth post later.
oh yeah and whenever i view posts its always in reverse order does anyone know how i can change that?

Q45's don't have spark plug wires, each plug has a coil pack. Stick with OEM NGK Laser Platinum or NGK Iridium IX.
There's some dude in Texas who rebuilds the active sus servo things, they're nothing like an air system and not easy to fix or maintain. Like a few other guys suggested, you may want to ditch the "A" all together and just run a standard suspension of some sort. Good luck w/ the car.
