Just a question on the method of extending the fenders...so did they cut your stock fender and just extended it with a peice inbetween and weld it back or was a pull of the fender plus that extension peice included?

Also, with that work done, how much did you extend/pull the fenders?

I want to get ideas on how to extend flares, because I want to widened my fenders in the future.

Yes they cut my stock fenders and extended it with sheet metal in between and welded it all back together. I wasn't there when the body guy did the work but I would assume thats what he did by looking at it. It was pulled about an inch and a half.

More updates. Rear fenders are close to complete. Car will be prepped for paint today and should be in the paint booth by friday. Hopefully I get her back next week

not to knock these guys but, why would he be grinding with an unprotected rim right there... those hot metal shavings can embed itself in the surface of the clearcoat... doesnt look very nice, claybar wont fix that either... but none the less, i love the work involved. big fan of custom work..

I don't know why, but I have a massive hard-on for progress pics of bodywork, with the car dumped on sick wheels. Somehow I like it better than finished cars

unfortunately in the G community there is very little love for projects like this becasue of the hating people do. I for one love that more and more G's are showing up on here and trying new things out. Once I'm done settling in when I move i'll prolly get around to doing the same thing but on my first gen G hahahahaha

custom metal flares FTW

man, amazing. good work! you can drive it lower though!

Here are some updates. They just finished spraying the exterior. These guys painted everything inside out. I was very inpressed when I got there. She still needs to be wet sanded, buffed/polished and they still need to shoot my side skirts, bumpers, front lip and mirrors. Hood, doors and trunk were in the paint booth drying. 

As for the color, I decided I was done with black. Its a pain to keep clean and I just don't have the time to maintain it. I went with Glacier Frost Mica. She should be ready by tuesday for pick up :)

Whoa!!! awesome fender work.  Love how they keep the factory quarter.  I definitely was concerned about the wheels as well but hopefully they are ok.  I've seen some people put blue tape over the entire lip to protect it.

Make sure to let that fresh paint cure for three months or so without waxing it! Actually, the safest product to use is Finish Kare 2180, because it is a bodyshop safe sealant that will keep the paint protected, but still allow it to breathe to achieve an ideal finish.
