Should i consider air? (from an aussie perspective!)

I know i know, another air topic. i have searched and read a fair bit, but just trying to put my spin on it relative to where i live and what is available.
 
i've asked a couple of local shops with little to no help on it. One shop was very helpful but without going into details with me said they'd custom design a kit for me for my 2GS and the cost would be $6000AU (~$4800USD) drive in drive out. Though tempting, i ended up getting some Insurance coilovers for 1200$AU (~$960US) delivered so went that way.
 
But i'm a perfectionist and would prefer the adjustability and 'wank factor' of air, and also be able to take passengers sometimes without stressing about bottoming out. 
 
So i have looked at options getting something from the US. I dont really want to chop up my Coilovers (will keep or sell them) plus heard about bag rubbing so UAS is out.
 
Next option seems to be Airrunner but from what i gather the basic system is quite expensive and has manual solenoids and 1 compressor, and it is much better to 2 compressors and electric solenoids.
 
The kit that has made me look into it is .... yes... K-Sport. There's a new vendor on CL who has quoted me $2775US (~$3500AU) for the Pro kit which has two Viair 380s and electric solenoids, along with all the lines, tank etc etc needed plus a wanky key-fob controller.
 
So for around $4000AU ($3,190USD) i can get the K-Sport Pro Kit. Also air is illegal here generally so it would be nice to be able to have a completely removeable kit. And i may be able to find a buyer for my coilovers to get some of my money back (900AU or so i would hope). 
 
But im definately NOT full bottle on any of this stuff, it just seems a relatively good option for me the k-sport stuff. My car is a daily though so reliability is paramount for me, though as i say i have a good local shop i'm sure would help me out & also there is a large local chain who are K-Sport dealers (though im not a fan of theirs, i could easily source parts from them).
 
Just wondering if anyone has any further input for me, whether i should branch out and take possibly the 'risk' on k-sport, or whether it is better i just keep with what i have!

Hey Ant, what did you end up deciding on?

BTW, what was the local chain that stocks K-Sport?
I haven't heard much about K-Sport, are they deemed to be good?

dude i ended up sticking with my coilovers and just upgrading to some harder springs (still not hard enough though!) and i went a bit lower.
 
i decided it wasnt worth all the $$ just to be able to park lower and get a little higher sometimes. its personal preference but coming from S13s i like my suspension low and hard, otherwise it just doesnt feel right!
 
local K Sport i couldnt tell you, i got quoted through RidesLow on clublexus. Locally available there is also the Air Force suspension, you can contact them directly for pricing which is quite good too, theyre basically the same as far as offering bags over coils and then coils with air cups.

Double check with your local inspection station.  We have many customers down under running our aero sport bags over the existing shocks with no problems with passing inspection.  Because we are not sealed against the shock, to the car, its no different then swaping out spings when your changing your air pressure.

The only "special requirement" that i know for the AU approval is that the vehicle has to be able to be operated when fully deflated, so if you have the coilovers, just adjust the bag up till it sits where they want it.  Also they want a D.O.T. approved rubber hose as a "flex" hose to run from the bag to the body of the car.

^^ur on air force right? how are those treating u?

Universal Air also here in West Australia at least you cant be able to adjust the system while the vehicle is in 'Drive', or when you are outside the vehicle. You also have to have it auto-level to a legal ride height when you turn the car on.
